Happy Monday!
Nicole isn’t going to let Alex get away with anything… but, of course Dan will defend him.
Also… I painted Mr. Bates from Downton Abbey!

Dan’s just like, no, wait, stop, can we not talk about this, i mean, Alex is doing a good job and I’d kinda like to go back to the bit where his girlfriend needs him so maybe we should let him go back to sleep and we;ll go eat pancakes and you can meet my Mom, oh no, my mom. ok. better plan. stay here. let him go back to sleep. I’ll go get pancakes and we can talk about whose king later…
Or no, it’s cool.
Bless you, Dan. You are my favorite.
She is going to be pissed at her parents when she discovers they are basically encouraging him to leave her behind and forget they are in love. 😐 Why is everyone being such a dick to Alex anyways?
just my thinking. ^^ ‘t is not the time for this kinda talk, ‘t is time for action.
but on the other hand, well – Alex is calling for it. That’s usually what comes from bold talk.
And a corollary to my comment on Friday, “Asking an angry woman to calm down works about as well as baptizing cats.” And she is angry at Alex for saying something that she thought was insulting about HER man. Which brings up another saying. “If we (men) say something that has two meanings, and one of them is insulting, we meant the other one.” Because honestly, we usually do. But…what would a story be without misunderstandings? 🙂
I think Nicole’s not being fair. Does she WANT Dan to leave her and be king, unless she’s deliberately being selfless? I also think we’re heading towards somebody losing somebody in the relationship category in the end. Someone’s gonna get left out in the cold. Think of musical chairs…
Alex thought he was in the Nightmare Realm before! It’s enough to make one wonder if he ever really left…
And for Nastajia, suddenly finding herself alone, that has to be her worst nightmare.
Wow, with friends that Alex has around him, he sure as heck doesn’t need any enemies. Thanks for all your so called ‘faith’ Nicole.
Hopefully Dan should drag Nicole out of the room with Oberon and Titania following and then Alex falls back to sleep once more and rejoins Nastajia in the Nightmare Realm.
Should he relate the news that her parents are now on his world?
How about Alex getting “technical” and telling that idiot to shut up and mind her own business?
So you’re saying someone should pick up Nicole by the scruff of her neck and drop her in a swimming pool? That’d be hilarious. 😀
Nicole. Nicole. Earth to Nicole. You’re not helping.
Although she is bringing up a valid point. It has been a team effort so far, everyone doing their part, that has gotten them this far. Dan becoming King would be switching a proven winning strategy for something that might be disastrous, with no chance of going back. I would hope Dan – or maybe even Alex – would jump in and point that out before everyone gets too carried away.
And they should all cool it before the noise brings Mom in on this.
And Alex should put on some pants… O_o
Oh Nicole… 🙂 If you really think about it, she never really was a big fan of Alex’s, so it’s rather to be expected that she’d call him out when he’s not being 100% clear about how things have played out. Yes, Nastajia hasn’t been harmed while Alex has been in Dreamland, but how much of that can he really claim is his doing? 🙂
Then again, I’m really looking forward to Dan getting a word in edge-wise (if he can before Alex fires back). LOVE the look on his face in the last panel. 😀
Yes…pants would be good. 🙂 It’s rude to be pants-less in front of royalty. 😛
I imagine if Dan became King he would still only be part-time king unless he was asleep for the rest of his life. Nicole would still have him when he’s awake.
Dan’s facial expression in the last panel is priceless. But I’m interested to see what he’ll say on this matter when he finally speaks up. Poor Alexander has been getting blasted on his role in Dreamland from all sides: Nivienne, Nastajia, and now Nastajia’s parents. And yet none of them seem to know that Alexander had previously offered the Sword of Kings to Daniel and he refused. They should be yelling at Daniel, not Alex.
thats probably one of the best “oh god, here we go” looks ive seen ^^
Scott has promised that Dan will enter Dreamland. My question arises: where will he start out?
MR. BATES! AHHH!!
Also, awesome page as always. ^-^
A combination of things, mainly putting fealty to the tradition in place of the reality of the present. That and good old ignorance in the case of Staj’s parents. (I don’t mean that negatively, just factually). They literally know nothing (as far as we’re aware) of his exploits, hence the surprise at news of their daughters recent venture and so on, so I don’t really blame them right now, it’s probably all a bit much, even for epic people like them.
As for Nicold, she’s just being a VERY over protective girlfriend, and I dare say more than a little bit interfering. You know what’s interesting though? I find this all highly disrespectful to Dan as well. Forget all the ‘it is YOUR LEGACY’ nonsense, fact is, as of now, Dan does NOT want the position, and moreover, actually refused the offer of the sword when Alex tried to give it to him way back when.
But, I ask you, have ANY of the naysayers (Nicold included) asked HIM? Not that I recall… >_>
Still, great page, I’m looking forward to Dan (politely) rebuking Nicold! 😛
I don’t think either of the brothers wants the kingship, actually.
The truth is, the brothers both realize the worth of the other–better than anyone. I have faith in them. 🙂
“Poor Alexander” needs to grow a pair. So does Dan. They are the only ones who can make these decisions and they keep letting everyone beat them down. GROW UP, BOYS. It’s time.
And Kudos to Nicole for stating the obvious: Nastajia doesn’t need anyone to take care of her. She kicks ass just fine on her own.
YES. His expression is great!
I feel like Nicole’s expression should get progressively angrier through the panels rather than go back and forth….
That’s a great point. I think as others have stated they work best as a team! 🙂
I think whether dan enters dreamland or not, he will never be capable of being the king of dreamland, he never grew up there, while alex had to relearn his childhood skills( ie. remember them) dan never had them, would not know where to start, and is incapable of the child like state needed to achieve them. little miss nicole better get over her bad self, even she would have a better chance at achieving the skills to lead dreamland before dan. this kind of talk from characters who are out of the loop, and uninformed are about to turn me so off the comic as to stop reading it totally. having built up alex, returning him to lost love, and purpose, and a possible destiny, and then claim what he has achieved was a mistake??? I hope the blood that is dripping off the daggers that you are stabbing in alex and Nastajia’s backs don’t stain your clothes too bad, her own parents… I think I’m going to throw up and pass out… you are probably going to kill one or both of them anyway, so I may as well give up on this comic.
Okay, but what about Alex and Nastaj? Does that make it any different?
Nicole need to “check herself before she wreck herself”. I believe that is the proper term here. Either way, they’re wasting precious time and at this rate Nastajia is going to get hurt while people bicker over things that can wait until things aren’t so hairy.
Actually, they keep on letting people say whatever they want…and then they do what needs doing.
That’s an exceptionally negative reading of the situation. 🙁
A) Scott has said the the True King (i.e. Daniel in this case) would have abilities that exceed any “temporary” king, so it’s safe to say that Dan would do fine in Dreamland.
B) Good stories require tension and conflict in order to have a meaningful catharsis and climax. If everything went smoothly 100% of the time, there wouldn’t be as much of a story to tell.
C) Scott is telling a story that is intended to be kid-friendly. I seriously doubt that there will be main-character death. Main bad-guy death? Possibly. Side character death (i.e. Merlin, Niviene, Nastajia’s parents)? Potentially, but not exceptionally likely. Any member of the core group of “heroes”? Absolutely not.
In short, I think it’s a bit early to give up on this comic. If you do, it’s going to largely be due to your own over-reaction to the necessary misunderstandings and tension needed to make the story good in the first place…and your own misreading of where the story is going. If you hang around for a bit longer…read the comments from time to time (especially the ones from Scott), you may find that this story is going somewhere wonderful. 🙂
Just like everyone else.
If Dan gets sword they lose each other completely if Alex keep sword she’d just lose a body to stare at.
Tell me something Dan can contribute brains to their double team but with Alex on the bench instead of Dan what could Alex possible contribute to Dan from this side?
Hello, everything is going nicely here and ofcourse every one
is sharing data, that’s in fact fine, keep up writing.
