And now we have our Ghost Rider reference “we are legion”. Kick their butt Daniel and save the girl… Everything a upcoming king needs to be able to do π
Anonymous, Ghost Riderβ¦
And He asked him, “What is thy name?”
And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion: for we are many.”
~Jesus and demons Legion from Bible.
Only +100 to Strength will not help in their situation.
It must have bonus to Speed, Dexterity and should provide at least basic skill of swordsmanship.
Alternatively it should have spell attached to it which will one-shoot all that Legion or at least protect them from Legion.
However it could be totally useless piece of glowing radioactive metal. If Legion decide to catch them alive and bring them to the Dark Realm then it would be like this at least for now.
+100 speed would be more usefull. He needs to move fast enough to defeat multiple opponents … also, in real world, sword moving with speed of bullet would do a lot of damage.
I still say everybody’s going to wind up in the Nightmare realm, and all that massive concentration of good guy karma is gonna fall like a rock on Abadon’s head. I hope so anyway. =)
I’m hoping this is where Daniel realizes he is out of his depth. This isn’t just fantasy, touchy-feely and good-guys-always-win fiction. He knew Dreamland and magic were real just a couple of days ago (when he met Nivienne through the pool) but there was still no real threat or reality to it.
Now, he has a major threat, and no training or experience in how to deal with it. His grad-student girlfriend won’t be much help either. Yes, he has a magic sword. But regardless of its power (unless it can just blast all his enemies at once into instant defeat) he is honestly in danger of his life……and NOBODY reacts well the first time that happens. Ask any soldier about their first time in a firefight. And Dan doesn’t even have the advantage of facing humans (which would at least give him an idea of their capabilities)…….he is facing a wholly unknown set of entities. He’s outnumbered, caught by surprise, and has his back to the water.
Dan has two options. Fight or Run. If he runs, Nicole is going to be Legion-food. If he fights, he’s liable to get killed (or at least captured).
This is NOT going to go well for Daniel & Nicole……..
The real question is what the OTHERS are going to do about it…..
For all of you Niviene-haters, and others. I have really tried to encourage young children to read this comic. At the same time convincing them that the comments below enhance the storyline.
This being said, please refrain from using the b-word, the s, the d and the f-word or any other innappropriate language. I noticed a lot yesterday.
HOLY DUCK WITH A TYPEWRITER, YES, YES,YES!!!!!!
Exciting and mortal peril and the shadow dea\mon things, I am so Excite!!!!!! This is going to be awesome, I’ve been waiting for this literally since the wraiths first showed up in the mortal world, and now it’s happening, Oh, this is awesome.
*coughs*
Yes. Uh, sorry. This is very bad for Dan and Nicole, but I’m sure that it’ll be ok in the end( even if the end takes a long time to get to.) I’m stil thrilled to bits that we get action and stuff in the real world about my favorite characters!
So now, considering the nightmare realm can come to earth, you can totally use this to explain bigfoot, anddddd…. well that’s the only one I can think of that isn’t a dinosaur, unless you use it to explain fire-breathing dragons. There were dragons that could produce smoke, probably mistaken for fire-breathing, just not actual fire-breathing dragons. I probably wouldn’t use it to explain those. :/ I for got all the others… Quick! Good myth monsters that were thought to be real! eh, just look at a Greek mythology list. Plenty of stuff there.
An earlier conversation, as they are preparing to head out for the job:
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Jayne, how many weapons you plan on bringing? You only got the two arms.
Jayne Cobb: I just get excitable as to choice- like to have my options open.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: I don’t plan on any shooting taking place during this job.
Jayne Cobb: Well, what you plan and what takes place ain’t ever exactly been similar.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: No grenades.
[Jayne groans]
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: No grenades!
ZoΓ«: We crashin’ again?
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Go talk to your husband. Is the mule prepped?
ZoΓ«: Good to go sir. Just loading her up. Are those grenades?
Jayne Cobb: Cap’n doesn’t want them.
ZoΓ«: We’re robbing the place, we’re not occupying it.
Excalibur, +10 Vorpal Fiery Blast, Sonic Blast, Holy Power, Mighty Disruption Greatsword of Doom!!!
In effect Excalibur beheads a creature on a critical hit. It deals 3d6 fire damage on a normal hit and 6d6 fire damage on a critical hit. It deals 3d6 Sonic damage on a normal hit and 6d6 sonic damage on a critical hit. It is good aligned and therefore bypasses the damage reduction of evil aligned creatures. It deals 3d6 Holy damage on a normal hit to evil creatures and 6d6 holy damage on a critical hit to evil creatures. It bestows three negative levels on any evil creature trying to wield it. Any undead creature that is struck by the sword must succeed at a fortitude save (DC 21) or else be completely destroyed in a flash of light!
Treat this weapon as a Major Artifact that can only be wielded by the True Heir of King Arthur.
should be pointed out, that beheading a creature does not necessarily automatically kill it… for one reason, some creatures do not have discernible heads. Others can live without their heads. And yet others have multiple heads.
According to a study I saw recently, that is true of most atheists. I think it has to do with a need to understand the bible before deciding whether or not it is true.
Ironically, that is what causes many an atheist to turn to Christianity, finding nothing to prove the Bible wrong, in the end…
One such person is Lee Strobel, author of The Case for Christ, which relates his journey from hard-nosed investigative reporter and atheist to believer in Christ…
No, he went back to the house to sleep. IF he woke up (which he doesn’t know he needs to), and IF he knew they were in trouble, he’s in the real world. No flying, no sword (just a necklace), and no armor. While he has skills and experience, he’d still be at a major disadvantage……and by the time he got there on foot from his home, it would all be over anyway…..
But wait, the portal was destroyed. Are you saying some of the creatures survived Ramses attack? Or some got through way before, all part of … the king of the nightmare realm’s plan? And okay, so some are there, how can they keep contact between both worlds?
Unless your parents are engineers and you are engineer yourself. In this case nobody in your family believes Bible is right just because there is no way to prove this theory. Same as for many other religions. You couldn’t deny gravity even if you can’t understand how it works but it’s really easy to deny Bible.
OOOOOH. Excalibur better have some awesome +100 Strength stats! Good luck, guys!!!
Great. They’re being attacked by Anonymous. π
“we are legion” !!! – nice one! And yes, I agree, hope Excalibur takes over.

That was my first thought… I’d actually have to look up Anonymous and Ghost Rider to see the connection… π
Now they need a herd of Gadarene swine to turn up on cue…
Nightmares: Nooo! Must resist porky possessability! (multiple possession sound effect here)
Niviene: (hauls self to surface) Boys! Come take a dip in my pool!
Possessed swine: Oink! No! Must resist lure of the waters! Grunt! Squeeeal! (splosh-splash-gurgle-drown x many)
One has only to hope it’s not Orcrist after all. In situations like this, Kring the Talking Sword would come in much more handy.
All right, TWC.
#5: 5,782
#6: 4,776 <= us, barely ahead of
#7: 4,757
Vote, fellow Readers!
We sure could use a bright light right about now!
Wasn’t that phrase “we are legion” used a lot in various literature over the years?
That’s a what, or possibly even a how, not a who!
I still say everybody’s going to wind up in the Nightmare realm, and all that massive concentration of good guy karma is gonna fall like a rock on Abadon’s head. I hope so anyway. =)
“Now they need a herd of Gadarene swine to turn up on cue⦔
Blast, you beat me to this suggestion! π
To quote a man wise in the arts of war, “Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don’t you think?”
“If we hit that bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.”
That makes two of us. π Here’s to the biblical reference though? Or maybe in this story, these guys actually are the Legion of biblical fame?? O_O
LOL!!
We’re not doing a good job of catching #5…but we need to vote like mad to stay ahead of #7!
As of my vote:
#5- 5,846
#6- 4,843 <= Us
#7- 4,803
Best. Reference. Ever! π
“…and my name is Mr Linoge. Give me what I want, and I’ll go away.”
Resistance is futile.
Is that Firefly?
Oh, but yes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_in_popular_culture
It’s from Serenity, the Firefly movie. Pure awesome. π
Faith in the modern generation restored. π
Dan: aim the pointy end at ’em and start swinging!
Yes! Love this comment!
Heh! Thanks for setting the record straight! π I was like, “What are they talking about “anonymous” and Ghost Rider?” “We are Legion” is ancient!

Yep. It comes from the Bible.
I love where this story is going! π All bets are off now!
I’ve yet to find myself in a situation where I’m not thinking that grenades would be nice.
If they take me, you shoot me.
…Not YET!!
After ALL of their discussions, you would think that they would understand how terrible their ideas of splitting up would be.
I am eager to learn how they counter the evil appearing before them.

Shepard-Commander.
THANK YOU, Lain! I was just beginning to die a little inside, but you solved that.
Unless Nicole can run faster. π
Hahahahaaa!
I love that snarky stuff. Some great lines in that one.

Phoenix,
You forget one more option, and that is that Alex can be wakeup and safes them.
He knows how to use his the sword etc.
We are anonymous. We are legion.
Is there a herd of pigs handy nearby?

whoa…O.o wonder how these guys got into the human world.
For those of you wondering how Nightmare Realm creatures got to Earth…
Start here and read through the whole part…

i thought of the biblical reference as well. i find it interesting that some atheists know the bible better than those that study it.
Hopefully this should avoid confusion with the Legion of Super Heroes! π π π
I just did and could that rock giant be one of Paddington’s descendants?

My guess is it has to do with most atheists being raised by Christian parents, which accounts for why they are atheists.
Ironically, that is what causes many an atheist to turn to Christianity, finding nothing to prove the Bible wrong, in the end…

it would be nice if we really knew how dan felt and his perspective, dreamland and dan and alex dreams and the chronicles
Oh, I know that. It was just the first thing that popped into my head.
But wait, the portal was destroyed. Are you saying some of the creatures survived Ramses attack? Or some got through way before, all part of … the king of the nightmare realm’s plan? And okay, so some are there, how can they keep contact between both worlds?
“We are Legion” reminded me of the Bible. T’was a group of demons that resided within a man.
Very creepy!!

Totally off topic but u need 2 post ur gravatar as an LOL cat saying “Washoo lookin at?”

I went fishing through the comments hoping to find this reference. +1 Faith in Humanity.
