Page 1583…
Happy Monday!
So… we did it! We had ANOTHER successful Kickstarter drive! Thank you all so much!
I’m also glad that I won’t have to post links or do reminders any more. I HATE promoting things. Yuck.
Only 10 more pages to go until the end of this chapter! Then I ship the book off to the printer and hopefully it’s in my hands by early December.
HOPEFULLY!
🙂
Have a wonderful week. And thank you again for all of your support and kindness!
Scott
ooh, maybe not the best argument to counter Nivienne with…not that Dan would know that.
wait, am i first?
Niviene really has something against Alex, doesn’t she?
Dan…. your Cool.
Dan should also say: “Besides, I can’t go to Dreamland…”
Maybe Niviene would ponder that and what should she say on that statement?
All Dan Needs to do is take the sword from Alex…
Would it not be possible for Dan to abdicate and let his brother rule?
Anything’s possible. It’s not up to Niviene. It’s up to the brothers.
Personally, I think Alex would make a better king and Dan would be better served as an advisor. Similar to the King Arthur/Merlin relationship.
I don’t think she has anything against Alex. She just believes that Dreamland would be best served by the king it was destined to have. It doesn’t mean she’s right or wrong. Time will tell that.
Yay, GO, Dan! Set her straight! Or at least make her think…
I would agree with this. Niviene is coming from a medieval mindset: If God or destiny has chosen you as King, you SHOULD be King. Otherwise you’re messing up the system, possibly to the harm of all. Look at Nic. He shouldn’t have been King, but he usurped the Throne and Dreamland has suffered as a result. Alex shouldn’t be King, Dan should. To her, this is pretty straightforward, and I imagine she can’t understand why anyone would think differently. Dan… might be about to expand her horizons a bit…
TWC status update.
All as I feared. One weekend, one level down.
#7: 2,421
#8: 2,359 <= us
#9: 2,108
We need votes, sibs. There are still 3 weekends to go, and with things going like that, we'll be out of Top 10 before this month is over. Vote now! And keep voting.
I think Nivienne will make Alex time in Dreamland very uncomfortable from now on…still don’t trust her ^^
I will repeat my hypothesis that Nivienne needs Dan on the throne in order to get Merlin back. It would explain her behavior so perfectly if it turns out to be true. 🙂
Why do you think so, Travis?
Agreed…now that Arthur has passed on, whoever wears the sword can go to Dreamland. Dan’s not held back any more. But Alex would never be able to return if that happened.
She definitely knows something we don’t. Hope Dan’s smart enough to ask her about this for us.
I’m in love with Dan right now.
Question and comment. Question: Why did Dan bring the sword with him? (maybe we’ll find out soon enough). Comment: …….I forgot.. (hate it when that happens)
Oh yeah! comment: Hey Scott, just a suggestion for your voting incentive: Why don’t you get a strip (comic strip) ahead and make the next day’s strip the voting incentive? Just thought it would be a good idea, It sure motivates me to vote in another comic I read (not that I don’t vote for this one as well).
To slay Niviene (or at least we can hope lol)
I tried that once. People didn’t like it. DOn’t know why.
yeah, even he thinks alex deserves to be king more then him, he knows being there in dreamland makes him happy and feels it not right to take his happiness away.
I really like seeing the issue from all the different sides, in this case Dan’s. Can’t wait to see where this goes. 😀
Maybe Dan can be Alex’s Merlin.
Aw, that’s too bad. It sounds like a neat idea. The fanbase seems vocal enough; maybe you could ask what they liked/didn’t like?
Dan is a stand up guy. Besides he has a relationship going on in the real world. I feel like he’s better suited for the tactical role too. He can be working and plotting in the days and Alex can bring his plans to fruition at night.
Unless Nevienne can pull a new rabbit out of her magic hat, this discussion is kind of moot. Only the authorized wielder of the sword in stone can come and go to Dreamland. And Dan has Excalibur, marking him as the King of the Human Realm. Usually the king was one, but since they ARE twins, the position is held by two that are as one (all hail the loophole that made the crowning of a new King possible). Though the legends about Merlin say that he will be back when Arthur is back, I believe they could be interpreted that he will be back when the King is back (Aragorn, not you). So she must be plotting something about bringing Merlin back AND in Dreamland.
I like it.
But Aragorn…… Return of the King…… 🙁
I agree that at least on the surface this is a solid justification for her– like you said, look how bad it ws with Nic trying to take things in his own hands against destiny, who’s to say Alex’s rule won’t fall apart the same way without the destined king? –But I think on a deeper level she also really wants to believe that, -needs- to believe that, to explain her own hurt. It is because of duty to righting that ‘natural’ order that she has been living in heartbreak for, what, centuries? She doesn’t want to believe these kids can just throw all that aside with the kingdom she was preserving for their return and get the happily ever after she had to sacrifice I’d bet. –This might not be a conscious hatred, but I bet at least subconsciously there’s quite a bit of hostility pointed at Alex.
