Fair vs Faire:
The European Renniasance took place between 1300 and 1600 (or so), while the Great Vowel Shift took place between about 1350 and 1700. So depending on the time period portrayed Fair (later) or Faire (earlier) is correct.
Just a little something I spotted: Dan’s glasses seem to just change somewhere by the third panel (I’m having a little trouble seeing their position in the second).
So Cal one is cool. In the shadow of the Tejon (?) pass. Whichever is the one going up toward Vegas. Mountains all around. But it’s a spring gathering. I miss the autumn festivals. There’s one here in Vegas this next month but not a lot of color changing trees if you know what I mean XD
Just weighing in for the spelling of “faire” with the E, if only because my spell check hates it. ^,^ Seriously though, that’s the spelling I always see, and it does give that medieval feel.
Talk about “Mit der TΓΌr ins Haus fallen (==to go like a bull at a gate)”. I’ve laughed out loud, just for the heck of it. That’s so holy-gosh-a’mighty hilarious. Oh my. “marry me”. If I ever get to utter that to a woman, I gonna think at this. And I gonna get a laughing flash. Oh my, the shame! “marry me”. *loooooooooooooooool*
Every single time I’ve ever seen it in written form, it has always been Faire with the E. Even a Google search for Ren Fair wants to correct it to Ren Faire. I’d lean towards adding the E to it.
I really like the dialog on this page. Dan’s reaction is totally in character. Nicole’s reaction to Dan is very much in character for her as well. All in all, it just fits and flows very well.
Dan’s “proposal” was in jest, and Nicole certainly knows that … but that won’t stop her from teasing him about it on occasion, I think.
In this case, Daniel. That is, if he wants Nicole to take him seriously. Black women don’t view marriage the same way as white women, but a ring is pretty universal.
First time being the first commenter! Woo! And it’s definitely Ren Faire. With the E!
lobe how his face is, you can tell he seriously in love with nicole right about now

Dude!
You have to present a ring before you ask that! π
yes, but, the Living History Centre that originally began them called them the Renaissance Pleasure Faire, with an E.

That’s my hometown btw. Every summer, baby!
“Who needs a ring when you have . . .”

“. . . EXCALIBUR!!!”

Foreshadowing?
LIKE!!! in ALL caps
I remember Novato and Vacaville. Never went to Gilroy since I was living in North Bay. Now I live in SoCal should look up the southern faire one day.

Other than that, pretty funny. π

Vote, fellow Readers!
does that mean the girl gets to keep the sword? π
Fair or Faire? I think you can use either one, unless it depends if hear back from those proper spelling freaks????
I vote Faire, but I visit a lot of them and am used to seeing it spelled that way, so personal preference.
Also, I’ll marry you, Dan! π
his glasses are still crooked in panel 1, but they were straightened on the previous page…
is it color or colour … leave both, you have Dan saying fair and Nicole saying faire !
Careful, young man. A proposal like that can have lasting consequenses.

Can you say ‘whipped’, boys and girls?
Dan’s reply was priceless. And possibly foreshadowing, at least in reference to the wedding venue, hm? =) Great page!

Forget it, Jake; it’s Ren Faire.
The E makes it nerdier.

Yeah, me, too. I’ve always seen it as Ren “Faire.”
In other news, I love this panel so much…and not just because I’m a Rennie. π
Dan is smitten. The Ren Faire memories clinch it. π
Faire. Definitely.

I like how Dan’s glasses straightened themselves. I wish I had glasses like that…

I’d vote faire with the ‘e’
oh, and i love that last panel! hilarious!
