Awww… I’m crying happily for them, too. This is great.
And GoGoRainbow’s right, their eye colors have switched. Part of the story or technical error? If it’s part of the story that would be oddly awesome.
The sheer joy on both of their faces… My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard!!!
Regarding the eye color… that would an excellent story twist! Not that any of us are complaining or attempting to influence your work, Scott! But in terms of being an error, it created an interesting tangent.
I just noticed how Nicole is crying. It’s touching to see how she moved from “scientific” skepticism to becoming emotionally involved in what Alex was going through, to having now her own adult encounter with Dreamland, bringing back to her memory all the emotions and old friendship from her youth.
Nicely done, Scott.
I still think you’re a big meanie towards all the other Dreamlanders, of course… 😛
That’s the first thing I would have tried to do as well, reach out and touch her.
I am curious about sound apparently not being able to cross the barrier. Perhaps the sound is just very faint, or Merlin was able to project sound into Dreamland with his magic, or maybe Niviene and Merlin can both read lips!
In any case, the lack of sounds “from the other side” makes this scene very dramatic.
I foresee a possible answer to your criticism coming along with the conclusion of The Chronicles. If one brother were to rule Dreamland as King, and the other to function as a Dreamland Ambassador to the Waking World – with the Transport Bracer (Scott may use this name for it if he wishes! 😉 ) in hand – petitions could be made in either world to try and find lost dreamers, or Dreamland residents, and use the Bracer to reunite them.
I can’t believe I had gotten 20 pages and 963 comments behind here. Apparently I picked a heck of a time to get caught up, though; this has been a great reunion sequence! I cherish these happy moments you’ve given us, Scott. My life these days is mostly bereft of happy moments, so I hope you take justifiable pride in helping to keep me sane.
Welcome back! I’m sorry that things haven’t been as happy for you lately, and I hope that it picks up soon. I am glad that Scott’s comic does continue to bring you (and the rest of us) joy.
I’m guessing that you need to learn a fair bit of magic to pass through the realms, as Niviene was taught by Merlin, but she’s not had time to teach the others (or they don’t have the ability)
Let me check up on my English here:
Could Niviene’s remark not be interpreted as “Hey! Touching is not permitted! Hands off!”?
While the meaning I read into it is: “I’m very sorry that although _I_ may pass freely through the pool, you other’s cannot. My magic is not strong enough for that. So, unfortunately, you are unable to touch each other.”
The basic sense of the verb ‘can’ is ‘have physical/mental ability/capacity’. And it’s more than clear from the context provided that this is what is meant. Should Nicole have asked, ‘Can I touch her?’ and Niviene replied with, ‘No, you can’t!’ — well, that could’ve sounded a wee bit ambiguous.
(Not A Native Speaker, Known To Be Wrong. But were anything material hammered into my head as fiercely as the Dreaded Modal Verbs, it’d come outta my heel and ten feet into the ground.)
“can” vs. “may”…
“You may not touch her” means you’re not permitted
“You can not touch her” means its’ not possible.
My mother drilled this into my head when I was a kid… I’d ask dumb questions like “can I go to my friend’s house” and she’d say “you’re perfectly capable of getting there on your bike, but you’re still grounded, so you MAY not.”
No language spoken is driven by pure logic. Not while it’s humans who speak languages. So yeah, your mother was completely right, but a’ them there folks here’n’yonder still use ‘can’ instead of ‘may’ when asking for or granting permission. Hence Bezman’s question, I think.
I’m afraid I don’t foresee any such goings on in the future. This would be too much of a stopgap measure, for one thing. Also, the human would have to remember Dreamland in order to ask for a chance to see their Dreamland friends again. On the other hand, a Dreamlander could petition for meeting a human, but may not necessarily have their full name, nor where they’re from. Good luck for Dan to try to find them, convince them that the dreams they used to dream were actually real, and that their Dreamland friends want to see them again…
Not only that, but what happens after they meet, should Dan manage to find one such human? Won’t that human want to keep going back, now that he/she has reunited with their Dreamland friend? But they can’t, since the “Transport Bracer” (should they even manage to create it after all) would have to be used for the next Dreamlander/human reunion. Sure, they may be able to take turns for a while, but after enough humans would have reunited with their childhood Dreamland friends, it would be impossible to manage any kind of rotation between them.
It’s a nice thought, but alas, completely impractical. And all because of Scott, the big meanie!
😛 😉 😀
Scott,
It just keeps getting better and better.
A truly emotional meeting. I’m so glad they get to see each other again 🙂
A million smiles!
And the way Dan looks at Nicole in the last panel makes me want to melt!
Happy Tears here too Scott — nice job!
YAY!!!!! Finally the full realization of the moment I wanted to see!!!
Well done sir, well done… 😉
*doing happy dance*
Yaaay! They’ll be able to talk to each other, right?? also, did Felicity and Nicole switch eye colors in the last 2 panels?
Excuse me, but I’ve got to go re-read the chapter with Nichole and Felicity in it.
“shripp!! ” *rips open next packet of tissues* sniff…
Awww… I’m crying happily for them, too. This is great.
And GoGoRainbow’s right, their eye colors have switched. Part of the story or technical error? If it’s part of the story that would be oddly awesome.
D’aaaaawwwwwww.
I’ve.. I’ve got something in my eye.
Now You mention it.. Would be cool if Nicole’s first encounter with Dreamland, since the fateful day Felicity got kid-napped, left some sort of mark….
@ Scott: even if it’s a fluke, could You keep it?
This was a really touching moment. Awww. 😀
“I’m not cryin’! I’m sweatin’ through my eyeballs!”:D
I hope they can at least talk to each other, like Merlin and Niviene did, before she was able to go through the portal.
Oh, how I love Felicity’s excitement! And the tears… It’s so beautiful! :’3
The sheer joy on both of their faces… My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard!!!

<3 This is so sweet! I just feel like hugging them both.
Let’s hope Nick doesn’t join the reunion.

They might have to learn sign language. I’m thinking writing might be harder, especially for Felicity, who is under water.
I’m loving these pages. It’s awesome that you wrote it so Felicity could appear through the portal. 🙂 *snoopy happy dance of joy*
Blew up the pic, and it looks like the result of Nicole’s glasses reflecting on her eyeballs, hence the bleu-ish tint.
Felicity’s eyes are still ceruleum, but de-saturated throug the water. Hmm…would have been quite the twist though…
This is wonderful! A sweet reunion! We’ve all been wondering if something like this was gonna happen. 🙂
Btw, Scott, will we be seeing your awesome self at MTAC next week?
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, the sheer delight in Felicity’s face. Nicole’s completely right, besides which ‘beautiful’ sums up this moment pretty well. ^_^
aww noo they cant touch each other!! at least they can see each
Beautiful. Thanks, Scott.
Thank you.
And yes.
🙂
Nicole is now happy! How will Daniel explain the sword is his mom asks about.
Also it seems Nicole has renewed faith thanks to Felicity! 🙂
Thanks Scott, again a great page.
It may just now be sinking in, but the twins now have possession of two pretty powerful swords. Sounds like the making of an epic battle!!
Wait, wait, She can pass a sword off to Daniel, but Nicole and Felicity can’t touch each other? Waaaaaaah! I wanted to see that pounce hug so bad!

Someone have any tissues?

Just dear. Such sweet tears going down Nicole’s face. Love it. 🙂
Holy reunion Batman!
On other news: She recalled her as a tigerfish?
