Page 1474…
As you might be able to tell…Felicity has no idea what’s going on.
For those of you who were wondering (and I DO explain this a bit later on)…
Niviene gave Alex something that would allow him to change back into a Mer-man and also Felicity (if/when he found her).
Sheย also gave him something to ward off the sea serpents (and probably something to lead him back to the cave).
She’s over 1,000 years old. So my thinking is… she gave him lots of help.
As for how he found Felicity…
My assumption was that he knew where to go (generally) and then it was just a matter of flying around until he spotted the pirate ship.
๐
A bit expected, but who cares. Yaaaaaay! ๐
One reaction down, now to wait for Felicity to look up. I was trying to figure out exactly what they were doing in the 3rd panel, but after reading the blog entry, I guess they’re just leading her into position before just telling her “ok look up.”
Bit dodgy, but I can easily forgive one moment of dodgy amongst so many moments of awesome! ๐
Sooo, what Felicity and the others saw on the pirate ship was actually Alex…? If so, that’s quite an interesting way to play with the time in the story….
Awwww! (cries)
So Felicity is currently a catfish?
let her be able to touch felicity!!
or better yet speak face to face scott!! please, please
Nope.
Wasn’t Alex earlier.
I’m curious…
Didn’t Daniel get the sword on page 1471..? Then how did it end up on the back of Alex this quick ?
(I’m teasing just a little bit ๐ )
Different sword, dude.
On a completely unrelated note, here’s a blast from the past, just because I feel like it. Dreamland motivational posters, as designed by various forum participants, back in early 2009. Enjoy!

Bit of an assumption for Alex to know where to go (generally) to find Felicity, bearing in mind previous experience of Alex going completely the wrong way to get to the battlefield :-p
But to be honest, who cares, it’s tender aaaaawwwwwwww moment time, and couldn’t come soon enough tbh.
If you would all excuse me for a moment……
*** Fangirl voiced SQEEEEEEEEEEEEE! *****
OK. Back now.
What a cool moment. Thanks for deciding they would finally see each other again, Scott.
*grabs giant tissue-box*
ooooohhh..my…. This is oneof these pivotal happenings in TDC.
Funny though, Felicity looks as if she does not dare to look up.
*pffrtttttt..*
yeah, yeah, I’m okay..just a bit of dust in my eyes.. Sniffle…
*scratching noggin’*
i guess that would be possible if Niviene held Felicity by the hand. She is a very poerful mage, thรกt much has become clear, so I wouldn’t put it beyond her that she found a way to, indeed, let dreamland people touch “real-world” people.
A tigerfish, rather.
I can’t wait to see Felicity’s reaction!
HIP-HIP-HOORAY!!!!
You can walk into a pool of water and still see what’s on the other side of the Pool? That’s interesting. Merlin tried to reach into the water and found that didn’t have any effect, but I would have thought actually entering the water might be disruptive…
Aw, I actually teared up a bit. This does leave a lot of questions about travel between worlds, though.
Why are everyone under the water so silent? Niviene and Merlin seemed to have been able to communicate just fine before they figured out what was going on and how to get Niviene out of the water. Their silence and embrace looks like they’re at a funeral or something… or maybe I’m just a dark person ^^;;
And Alex could have told Nicole not to wear jeans or whatever that material her pants are made of that looks like it’d be awfully uncomfortable when wet! Why *did* she need to walk into the water to see Felicity when Dan could see Nastajia from the shore just fine?
I would have expected Alex to do some goofy ‘Hey! Look at me, I’m in Dreamland!” pose to Dan and Nicole, but maybe he’s trying not to ruin the moment.
The reunion of a lifetime!!!
Should Nicole’s eyes widen with tears of joy, along with Felicity’s?
D’awwww. that’s… man, that’s.. excuse me, I’ve got something in my eye. *sniff* This reminds me so much of my first day of highschool, when I looked around and saw a girl who’d been my best friend in the second grade, but I hadn’t seen since.
That was beautiful, Scott.
Hey, I suddenly realize that Felicity would look really good with short hair, pixie-style.
The water makes the longer part of her hair invisible.
I love how Alex is looking up at Niviene and Nicole while Nastajia looks like she’s trying to explain to Felicity what is about to happen. I imagine that there aren’t going to be too much by way of words said between the two until Felicity makes a sarcastic, yet poignant, comment!
OMG!
I love those!
Totally forgot how great they were!
When I hear that Hello Old Friend, I think of Michael O’Hare’s amazing performance in Babylon 5. If that’s intentional, woot!
I’m good with you stretching the plot however you need to maket his work, Scott! ๐
Just teared up a bit, and I’m a middle-aged male.
Felicity can’t have visible tears underwater.
Great page today. One thing that I would do, though, is to just make the last panel a reaction shot without the bubble. I think that she wouldn’t even be able to get a gasp out. ๐ But in any case, what a beautiful moment for the entire series.
Oh yeah?

๐
Those were Great!!
This was one of the best moments in the entire story
Squee! Ah, I’m so excited! =D
Definitely got a bit emotional at this. Great work, Scott!
Wow… a LOT of assumptions made by the author… :O Still, I’m glad the reunion is happening. ๐
I just checked. It’s not tomorrow yet. Do you think I could borrow the good doctor’s Tardis? I’ll bring back a screen capture ๐
Wonder what kind of a fish tail Felicity obtained while transforming. And what ever happened to Mr. Gari… I mean, her own one.
All right, here’s the TWC report. 5th place. 11,529 votes. #4 is still far ahead with 19,873 votes. And #6 is getting closer with 10,621.
Have you voted today?
Yeah…I think some of that dust made it over here, too. *sniff sniff* Must. Not. Cry. At. Work.
Agreed. When she and Alex were falling from the tower way back when she was introduced, her wind-swept hair appeared shorter, and it was pretty cool.
Ha! I see a Bab5 fan. ๐
That must be one honking big dust cloud. It seems to have hit here on the Upper Plains too.
Who ran off with the Kleenex?
Tiger Shark.
I’m glad Alex got some magical assistance getting Felicity to the pool, given his usual problem with directions. I’d been wondering how he was going to manage the transition back to mer-man short of going back by way of their undersea city.
I had a mental image of Alex setting out to find Felicity like a Polaris missile shooting up out of the ocean – that would have been a cool scene to do.
yep, so knew it was coming.
Scott, well played!
Well drawn.
Read this at work, really lifted my spirits. Had to read it again when I got home.
Every day, it’s “I can’t wait to see what tomorrow looks like!”
I don’t think Nicole should enter the water in this scene. If the water is a portal of sorts, then wouldn’t walking into the water send her legs to Dreamland?
Niviene said that only she and Merlin could use the Pool as an actual portal; to anyone else, it’s only an image.
And soon, she’ll be asking where’s a camera when you need one…
Boy am I glad my conspiracy theory didn’t play out! Aww I can’t wait for tomorrow’s page to see Felicity’s face!
I’ll say that these last few weeks of pages, starting with Niviene peeking up through the water onward, have been exceptionally pivotal. Like, six whole years, all building up to this, the ultimate proof of “life on other realms” (or, in fact, proof of other realms, period) beyond the experiential, personal dreams of just one individual.
All the comic, up until this arc, suddenly feels like Contact (1997) after Arroway’s 18-hour/split-second journey to another galaxy and the troubled aftermath where she has to justify a whole lifetime of research before the world. But now the experience is no longer just an experience, but also a truth within grasp.
At this point, I think the question would now become more incorporative of the exact nature of that grasp. Now that it is temporarily possible for the other realm (layer?) to be seen in this world without having to dream, is there a scientific measurement of such a distance? Can it be legibly recorded for posterity? If it could be reached, how would those in the story act most responsibly with such knowledge?
I think that from here on out, nothing will be the same for Nicole and Daniel as it was previously. Everything in their own lives will be touched and affected in some way.
It will be interesting to watch what direction you will take this story next. I think I found your comic over three years ago and I have been reading it ever since, especially because the idea of dreams as parallel layers or universes fascinates me. This arc vindicates my interest in your comic. Please keep doing what you’re doing.
Keeping within the lore, I dรณ believe that Nicole is going to ponder the questions You pose.
Only problem: she’d have to start studying theorethical physics, with quantum mechanics and 11-dimensional calculus as specializations.
Nรณt something easily converted to an entertaining comic ๐ (unless one is of an extremely geeky kind)
Ps: Alternate realities รกre entirely within the realm of theorethical possibilities. It depends on the school of physics one advocates, string-theory, branes, multiple-universe-foam-bubbles, every action spawns an additional reality and whatnot, whรฌch model of reality is “real”
I am always reminded of Michio Kaku’s explanation of the carp, looking up through the surface of the pond, wondering why there sometimes stรญll is movement, despite the fact that his world ends there. Having nรณ inkling about that extra “dimension”
รr Carl Sagan’s explanation of “flatland” (yes, I juuuuust bought the entire “Cosmos” DVD-Box ๐ )
One cool thing for me, whether it’s intended or not, is that the Dreamland folks look a bit different through the ripples of the pool. It’s almost like seeing them for the first time, like Dan and Nicole are doing.
Again, that’s just how it seems to me….
Those are great! I had never seen these before!
I stand corrected. It appears that Felicity’s tears have such high salinity that they form a non-mixing border with the seawater resulting in….uh…..I guess this is just how things work in Dreamland.
Still plenty of us out in the wild. ๐
Kudos, Scott.
It is exactly what many of us loyal readers (of the first hour or of the last, doesn’t matter) were waiting for.
No more words, just let the show go on (and on and on and on …)
And all the walls of Reason shatter…completely eradicating the scientist’s mind… >:D
Share the tissues, please?
