“‘Cool’?” “What does that mean, human? That I am cold, is that it?” 😀
Morgana. What with Alex being a clueless hero boy, she’s about ready for the reveal.
I can’t believe I got here this early! Sweet page, Scott!
Funny.
Nastajia looks a bit peeved at Alex being, well, Alex.
Great page, thanks Scott and a very happy New Year to you and yours also.
Best wishes
Nice mirror. And odd bust, in panel 4.
I hope Alex is being careful, swinging the Sword around in an enclosed area. And I hope Niviene can figure out what a movie is. Nas probably knows enough to guess if he hasn’t told her, but Niviene, unless she’s using some sort of mystic scrying, wouldn’t know what the modern waking world is like…
This does touch on a point, though. Beyond scrying, if Niviene Is the Lady of the Lake, that means she has some way to go from Dreamland to Earth and back physically, apparently independent of the amulet. That could be very important. Especially to Nicole and Felicity.
We don’t know if it is Niviene!
I still say it’s Morgana. Isn’t Morgana’s hair traditionally red?
Also, yeah…. The same thing would be applicable. one hopes that Morgana/Niviene didn’t come here using an absolutely impossible to copy type method.
The look Nastajia is giving Alex in the last panel is priceless.
I think Nastajia’s face makes this whole scene. Brilliant! 😀
face palm, with a smile, contemplating Alex.
Nastajia: “stop talking”
Yeah, that’s what it means when my wife looks at me like that.
Once again, I’m hearing some old resonances:
[Angelic music swells… ]
King Arthur: “The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite, held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. That is why I am your king.”
Dennis the Peasant: “Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.”
Arthur: “Be quiet!”
Dennis the Peasant: “You can’t expect to wield supreme power just ’cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!”
LOL!
I was just about to post that, but it seems you beat me to the punch. Wait, a punch?! Now we see the violence inherent in the system! HELP HELP, I”M BEING REPRESSED!
Great page as usual (the mirror is very shiny, and the resulting image is a bit cloudy, but I’ve never put a mirror underwater and looked into it, so, what do I know?).
I don’t think there’s much folklore on her hair color. But while most later stories make her the enemy of her half-brother Arthur and the Round Table, originally she was a powerful magic user and semi-ally of Arthur; it was Guinevere she couldn’t stand. It is entirely possible that Niviene was both the Lady of the Lady AND Morgana, and her role split in two in the retellling of stories through the ages. We shall have to see.
That ever-so-slight downturn of the corners of her mouth . . .
Don’t be mad at him Nastajia. He just forgets that there aren’t such words here as “movie” and “cool.”
‘sigh’,
just let Alex be Alex, I guess…
I’m sure the movie that Alex is referring to is “Excalibur.” That said, I read somewhere that Monty Python’s Holy Gail kept truer to the Arthur legend than Excalibur did (go fig). Still, Alexander gave me a genuine laugh today with his boylike innocence and enthusiasm.
Their faces in the last panel. XD
Just got my books in on saturday, survived the journey ok, and they look great!
As for the comic, agreed about Nas’s look making the whole thing. 😀
*like*
I wonder if that expression is modeled on the one Scott’s wife sends him when he does something stupid… XD
So glad they came in okay.
Thank you again for your support, David!
“i saw you in a movie” yeah, that is a nice thing to say to a mermaid when she does not even what a movie is!
I didn’t even bother posting and went straight to looking for the words “watery tart.” I knew there was no way that wasn’t getting posted. Bonus points for Sava if we see “watery tart” in the dialog somewhere. 😀
very nice work, I can’t wait for the next bit. she still hasn’t answered that question …
Cognate with the Morrigan… whose association with ravens lends itself to her always having black hair… UNLESS one is considering the Morrigna in trinity, as Macha was definitely of the red-head persuasion… BUT we’re getting off the point there.
