I detect a little teasing there… I know that Alex is shallow… But I don’t think he’s THAT shallow.
Well, yes; but it’s not just Staj. The claw marks are a visual reminder to everyone who sees him that he went toe to toe with the Great Tyrant Nicodemus, an unbeatable monster, a DRAGON for Pete’s sake… and not only survived, but won (with help). That’s past ‘cool’ and into both stunning accomplishment and major intimidation territories. Although I doubt Alex could put it into words like that. In fact, with a scantily clad nubile Elf maiden encircling him from behind, I’m surprised he can speak rationally at all at this point. Is he BLUSHING in those last three panels? If not, why isn’t he?
So long as the scratches remain on the armor every future generation will ask about them and they will hear the tale.

I think they’re pretty much the same height, but remember Alex is now barefoot and Nastajia is wearing her boots.
That’s what I was thinking. Keep the scratches, so the usurper and his tyranny will never be forgotten.
…of course I’d also be quietly thinking “Plus they look bad-ass!”

Poor Alex is so overwhelmed! The dragon marks shows all of his enemies that he survived Nick trying to open him like a can opener, making him more intimidating.
I hope you can come back to New York City sometime, Scott. It would be great to see you again.
Alex is apparently freezing his tokas off, he’s all blue-gray. Give him his armor back quick before he turns into a Alex-pop.
