Aww… poor Felicity….
At least we have learned one thing for the scientific records – it seems that Alex is the only one who can get to Dreamland as an adult. With or without the sword.
I kinda imagined a plot where Nicole would come to Dreamland, then be abducted by the creatures from the Nightmare Realm and wouldn’t wake up in the real world and then Alex and the others would have had to save her for Dan and overtake the ruler of the Nightmare Realm in the act of doing so… ah, well…
So, after this surprise, I wonder how the plot develops from here. 🙂
Wait a second. That armor CANNOT fit both Alex AND Nicole. So… is Nicole standing there in hilariously oversized (for her) armor?
Thus we see that while today’s page will indeed be the one we were waiting for when we look back at it, until tomorrow (or even a few days later?), we still have no idea how this all worked out.
Agh. I just related this comic to “Who Are You” by the Who, and now it’s gonna be stuck in my head all tomorrow.
Ouch.
Guess this is a day later, then. No dice, probably some/a lot of heaving the morning after.

But the question still is: did something happen to Nicole while she is wearing the necklace? She isn`t in Dreamland, but I hope she isn`t somewhere else….
My theory is that Nicole comes to Dreamland in Alex’s Dreamland Body. =) Or does that only happen in Anime?
I see one of two possibilities:
1. Nicole showed up, in Alex’s armor. It either molded itself to fit, or she’s really uncomfortable right now.
2. Alex showed up, without the sword.
you can’t tell who it is just by te boot… you can’t even tell the scale of the boot due to the weird angle.

Seems to me that this is still not specific as to who showed up. Magical dream armor can theoretically take the shape of whomever wears it so this could be Nicole in the armor. Felicity’s “No….” is also pretty vague, its not a “no it didn’t work” and the look of shock that she’s wearing could be joy or disappointed. Seems we’re just going to have to wait another 24ish hours to know for sure.
I can think of 3 possibilities:
1)Alex without the sword
2)Nicole in Alex’s armour (unlikely because of “No”)
3)Nicole in Alex’s body (unlikely because it doesn’t fit this comic much)

this might be a guess… but I think that in the next picture we see that she DID show up… wearing the armor!
She’s there, in the armour. Pretty short foot for that to be Alex. ‘No’ doesn’t have to be a statement of her not being there, could just be a cut off no way, or any of a plethora of expletives that don’t get finished. And the look on her face is more surprised then “screw this she ain’t showing”.
ok so it is obvious that the armor is involved one way or the other. Guessing armor and the sword go hand in hand. I’m also guessing if we the viewing audience were able to see the full armor that the face shield is active right now hiding who is actually in the armor (thus causing a reaction like she is having). Alas we won’t know for certain until the next installment.
Agreed. Scott, please explain. We are lost here. There are so many things she could be saying no about. Ranging from the fact that Nicole might appear where Alex showed up first in several years, to the fact that Felicity has given up hope, to Felicity is thinking on a tangent that hasn’t been explained before now, and so on. Throw us a life line please.

Doesn’t seem like a day has passed. In fact… it doesn’t seem like an hour has passed.
Backing that theory up as well is the fact that I doubt Arthur and Alex have the same body shape. One has a hardened body in both worlds due to regular strain in one form or another (Excalibur isn’t going to wield its self after all). The other while probably in pretty good physical condition likely does not have the same measure of muscle, which would affect the fit of the armor in regards to a skinny guy in a fat guys suit of armor is a jangling mass of metal around the legs of a skinny guy.
Angle and distance applies in Dreamland. Most basic laws of physics apply in Dreamland. Then again, Alex can fly in a suit of armor unaided by any sort of propulsion beyond his own will and children can do the same with out thinking about it, and more, so yeah. Also, shock is an extremely hard to read expression, it covers every form of surprise possible and even allows some one to smile and joke on what all of a sudden is their death bed. Good luck applying positive emotions to that bit of logic, despite it being mostly true for humans, and thus I assume cat like hominids. Then again, it could be as you said.
Well, if it is Alex, he’s not doing a very good job of staying awake observing Nicole while she sleeps.

My bet (or rather:hope) is that Felicity is baffled because Nicole showed-up in a rather spiffy variation of Alex’ armour.
Orrr..it is Alex, who has fallen asleep out of boredom, buit is very closely followed by Nicole… making a mess of dreamlands’ ‘no grown-ups’ equilibrium.
If it all didn’t work-out? Well.. that would be rather cruel, but hey, “life sucks ,and then ‘ya die”
No, I am a total optimist: It’s Niocole in Alex’ armour, now moulded to her frame. The armour seems to be keyed to the sword, so it seems there’s no way of wearing the sword without the armour.
Either that, or we are going to spend the next part of the story finding a way to get Dan&Nicole to dreamland. 😐
It’s either Alex telling her Nicole couldn’t sleep with them all watching, or something is going on. Cliffhanger reactions are evil.
My thoughts too. Feli seems more like completely flummoxed than disappointed, tho’ it is a bit hard to see, even when zooming in.
Nicole wearing armour could look rather baffling. (or sexy, if Nasti’s armour is any way to go by.. 😛 )
To those wondering about how big the armor is, the page below heavily implies that it can magically resize itself, though this page makes it sound more like it resizes itself only when the wearer is meant to wear it. But we can still say that it should resize itself if that is Nicole…

Hmmm. The sword did say its purpose was to preserve wisdom for the kings of Dreamland. It never claimed to be the means by which each king could reach Dreamland. We (the readers) just assumed that since Alex couldn’t get there again until he wore the sword necklace.
Plus I can totally see Alex getting bored of watching Nicole sleep and nodding off himself. I strongly suspect we’ll see Alex in tomorrow’s update. I suspect he’ll be carrying the sword since it is still near him in the waking world.
Now that I think of it, Arthur was trapped between world when the sword was placed in the dias very near him (Sword tip less than a foot away?). Nick never claimed that the sword had to stick through him or anything. It didn’t have to touch his skin.

That’s what I’m suspecting. The suit of armor has appeared, the top of Nicole’s head barely visible through the neck hole, arms stuck out to the side (because, with her narrower shoulders and frame, that’s the only way her arms can fit inside), and she’s shrieking because she’s getting an Armor Wedgie. And Felicity has dropped her flowers and is about to dash across the square to come to her friend’s aid…
Or I might be wrong. It might be Alex, or the armor might have resized to Nicole and she’s standing there stunned looking really impressive, or it might be just the empty suit of armor. We will see. I hope. ^_^
(Zooms in as much as possible on Fel’s face) Hm, hard to read her expression. She’s round eyed over SOMETHING, but whether that’s joy or horror or just surprise, I can’t tell…
so true, if Nicole does/did make it back to dreamland, will/did she return to the exact spot she was last at or since she was trying to use Alex’s sword, to the last spot he was at?

It’s pretty well established (by 8+ years experience) that Alex can’t get to Dreamland without the sword. So . . . I’m betting on Nicole.
And I suspect she’s as overwhelmed as Felicity.
Or Scott’s being a giant tease about the whole thing. We’ll just have to see tomorrow.
The long wait is all Dan and Alex’s fault, Felicity: if they hadn’t been watching Nicole try to get to sleep, she would have drifted off earlier, and she would have arrived a couple of days ago!
I’m pretty sure that’s Nicole in Alex’s armor. Alex is awake, so I don’t see how it could be him. The armor would morph to fit the wearer, in which case, even with the face shield down, the body would pretty obviously be female. The reaction of “No” is a bit odd if that is Nicole, though. Unless it’s more of a “No way…it worked!” reaction.
Time will tell. 🙂
Also, the fact that Felicity drops the flowers and is running toward the person is more of a Nicole-arrival reaction. If it was Alex, I think we’d just see disappointment and probably no jumping up and running.

Personally, I think it’s just Nicole in Alex armor and Felicity wasn’t expecting the armor and the sword to come with Nicole too, since she isn’t the king.
A lot of discussion though. Frankly I can’t see how Nicodemus would be in Alex’s armor. Are you guys crazy?

It’s a bedknobs and broomsticks replay.
Considering all the fighting and exercising and training that went on in armor, and the inability to wash it–I wouldn’t be in the least surprised that a suit of armor could stand in the corner by itself.
Or be seen walking around the city. With people giving it lots of room.
Since the armor can come up with a faceplate/visor at need, I don’t doubt that it can resize itself to fit its wearer. Still, it would make a funny picture, Nichole trying to walk in heavy, oversize armor.

It took me a while to figure out what had happened…then I saw the boot. LOL!
Alex cannot go to dreamland without his necklace, so it possibly can’t be him. Or maybe the necklace needs to be worn by SOMEBODY so that the King can go to dreamland…
But I think Nicole is wearing the armor with the helmet on, so she “looks” like Alex for now
Or OOH OOH! Alex’s brother (too excited to recall name) got worried and slipped off the necklace, put it on Alex.

On tn the subject of the Nightmare realm, they do appear to be able to move between the dreaming and waking worlds freely. Could that possibly mean that a person from the Waking Realm could travel through the Nightmare Realm to get to Dreamland?
