Our son Logan has had a fever for the last 3 days…and on top of the renders taking 25 hours to finish…the errors I got from one frame…and the meetings I had…I spent some time at the pediatrician with my son as well.
Looks like he’ll be fine. But the fact that I got today’s page up at all is an accomplishment.
I hope you enjoy these pages. And I hope my boy wakes up a little better tomorrow morning so I can get Thursday’s page for you.

I’ve looked closely indeed, and in panels 4/5, just like panel 1, Felicity’s chin is cupped in one hand while she rests the other on her knee. The green spots are gems on her bracers. My opinion – Scott is keeping us on our toes and there is a garden’s worth of flowers across the street, making a banner that spells WELCOME.

Or the flowers were what were making the compiles take forever so he took them out for now and will put them in again later.

Yes, the flowers are there. And yes, the shots (though great they are for the effect being delivered) are crap for actually SEEING the flowers. if your eyesight is 20/20 and you’re about 10 inches from your screen you can make them out. Follow the hand she has on her knee upwards and to the left.
I’d probably suggest going for different colours on the flowers. Part of the problem, I think, is that they blend too well with Felicity’s fur & clothing. So at a pan that far away, they don’t stand out.
On an upside, I LOVE Felicity in panel three!

You are a TRUE HERO beyond proportions. Not only do you care for the well-being of your own children, you care for the children OF THE WORLD as well, by dedicating yourself to writing, making and putting the comic strip online for them. Children of many many countries and states. Young and old.
Your efforts outweigh the combined works of Superman, Batman, and even Spidey.
A great big THANKS to you. You know you deserve that, and a space in the history books “Hall of Fame” for authors as well.

Yes, the flowers are really hard to see… I had to look for them 3 times after reading exactly where they were!
But that’s ok, that’s why there’s the speech to bring attention to it too, so I think it’s still fine.

Felicity looks sooo cute here ,patiently waiting. You can see she’s absolutely happy to see Nicole again. Her eyes in frame 6 are totally “beaming” Happy..happy..happy..!!

Aaaand on the flowers?? I believe Felicity has made a beautiful arrangement on the other side of the street (That’s probably rendering as we speak. Flowers are murder on a renderer, all those petals ,stems, leafs etc..)

I had trouble with the flowers as well. I guess it’s the lighting or the panel focusing on all of the scene and not the flowers… I don’t know. I still love this page. Fel’s facial expressions are so beautiful!
I’m sure the flowers would be more apparent in the higher resolution print version of this page.
The only thing worse than having a sick child is when the child doesn’t recover in the expected time frame. I’m glad to hear he should be getting better soon. I’m also glad for your sake that it happened AFTER the trip to Disney World. 🙂 I’ll whisper my prayer that he gets better very soon.

Lesbians in dreamland. Very progressive. It’s efforts like these that make the world safer for everyone, and make kids feel less alone for being different. It almost justifies the racist and anti-democratic themes of this series. Well, not really, but it’s a start. After all, if a kid walks away from this thinking that native Americans are animals and it is wrong to try and question those in power who work against there will, they can at least not pick on their LGBT peers.
BTW, are you rendering these on a farm, or a stand-alone PC? Have you also considered replacing your render with one that is CUDA enabled? The leaps in speed are astounding.
Um, what comic are you reading? First off it’s a kid friendly series, there’s absolutely no chance of any sort of lesbianism in this comic. Second, they haven’t even seen each other since they looked to be what, 9? I’m going to go ahead and say said relationship didn’t exist then. They’re flowers for a friend that hasn’t been seen in 20ish years. I’d probably try to welcome my best friend from elementary school with something if I knew I was meeting up with him again after about 15 years.
Racism? Yes that’s it, the centaurs in the land they go to in their dreams, who they treat with great respect are clearly a derogatory representation of real life native americans. And of course crazy horse and sitting bull were secretly four legged.
Anti-Democracy themes? What? You mean all the talk about chosen kings, that are practically standard fare in just about every fantasy story I’ve read in my life? I’d be hard pressed to name you a fantasy story where there WASN’T a sub plot about a king returning to a throne.
I think you’re reading into things just a bit much.
I think it’s a little sad that when two people of the same gender hold a special brotherly/sisterly bond and they show affection, people around them immediately think they’re homosexual. It either shows a gutter mind or a life that’s not know true love yet. There is more than just one kind of love, you know. Don’t take it the wrong way, but I don’t think this is the comic for you if you have this kind of outlook towards it.
Blame it on Hollywood, who seem to think that the only way to express affection or love is to hop into bed. I guess they never realized that there are, as you say, so many other ways to show love.
That’d be nice to have yeah. Can’t control when some dates fall I guess, but it’d be a cool way to end the week to just have them meet up again with a hug or something. 😀
I agree with almost everything you say, however, why would it be OK to show Alex and Nastajia’s romance in a kid friendly comic, but not the same kind of relationship between two women, or even two men?
I agree that Felicity just wants to welcome her old friend back to Dreamland, I just don’t agree that lesbianism is not “kid friendly”-try telling that to all the kids who have wonderful homosexual parents.
Only comment I’ll make on this one since it made me angry:
This comic has already made a distinction between Native Americans of the real world and the Centaurs of Dreamland…because it plainly stated that the Native American people visited the Centaurs. Nowhere does this comic imply that Native Americans are animals. I, in fact, would applaud this comic for including more than just Caucasians and European-style civilization when representing the various peoples of Dreamland.
Meh, ignore him. Some people are just desperate to find something potentially negative in just about anything, even when the negatives simply aren’t there.
It’s these types of people that end up becoming members of the Tea Party…

So Felicity is waiting for Nicole. How does she know where Nicole will be when she arrives? Is is just a given that Nicole will appear near Felicity because Felicity is her purpose of going to Dreamland? And what if Felicity waits there for hours and Nicole doesn’t show up? Isn’t time kind of iffy when you’re going to dreamland? I recall Alex once being gone minutes from Dreamland, and when he got back it had been two days since the rest of the group had seen him. Shouldn’t Felicity do something else with her time, because she doesn’t know when or where Nicole will arrive? Perhaps I’ve overthought this, but I’m just curious.
Where: As far as we can tell, humans always re-enter dreamland at the same location where they left. So Felicity is waiting for Nicole at the place where she saw Nicole last, I think. Although I think Nicole mentioned that she returned several times after she parted from Felicity, I think she also said she always went back to the same location to look for Felicity, so this is a pretty good choice.
Time: I have no clue. I think Felicity is just too excited to think that far or care. If someone points it out to her, she’d probably say she’d rather wait here for years than to miss Nicole. Excited people can be quite irrational =3
