I must say I do like the switch in tone/feel between Dreamland and the real world in your comic, makes for a nice switch of pace that some stories lack.
Also, I LOVE Nicole’s reaction, reminds me of my best friend. No matter how harsh, she always speaks her mind, and ALWAYS let’s me know if I look/sound really bad!
P.S. Shouldn’t Alex’s chest be at least a bit scarred/beaten up as well? Something odd going on methinks… unless of course he has yet to realize the full extent of the damage done.

I think his armor took the damage to his chest. He probably is bruised, but it’s hard to see with his shirt on. I hope the sword is under his shirt!

Only nitpicky people bother with details such as the time on a wall clock. But then again, it’s all in the details. This has been fun. Love the speculating with the Nightmare Realm, the Wraiths, a resurrected Nic, Dan putting on the necklace, etc.
Also applaud the fact that Alex carries with him into the real world his battle scars. The attention to detail makes a huge difference and gives us more to love. Thanks.
welp, he could ask Nicole if she has any makeup (or rather, has a friend with the same skin tone as Alex, which would be hard to explain) but that’s a LOT of concealer. it’d be easier to find paint.

I’m guessing he’s going to get a doctor’s note from Nicole, saying that the sleep experimentation has affected his energy levels. Or else, that he came down with the flu.

scott you did wonderful job on this page the red marks are exactly where person would be bruised if they was wearing a full helm that was worn in fights the cheek bones show that the helm did protect his head but still took some damage due the bumping around in the helm there not much padding in them, so the bruises show that he was wearing helm. now i betting his chest will have huge welt on it due the chest was scratched and damaged from being held by nico taking him down into the water the impact should be shown on his chest and sides due banging around in the armor.

Does this confirm that whatever kind of physical harm he gets in Dreamland will reflect upon him in the real world? If he dies in his dreams, will he die in his sleep?
Or maybe the fact that he’s all bruised and banged up here and not in his dreams proves that King Alexander from the previous pages is NOT the real Alex?!
Or maybe he kept ramming his face against the walls and Nicole and Dan are such heavy sleepers that they NEVER NOTICED??!?!?!?!

WAY back when Alex first returned to Dreamland he was cut on the chin by a pirate and later woke up with the cut, so yeah, it’s reflected in the real world. He really did put his life on the life to take down Nico.

Dan and Alex look like crap when they wake up.. Nicole on the other hand.. looking good as always!
Then again, he’s a male college student. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were several ways to come up looking like this, all of them totally acceptable to his peers. Probably, all he’d have to do is smile and wince.
Just because you don’t have your glasses on doesn’t mean you can’t see colours. She may not be able to see the fine details, but she sure as heck could see those bruises without glasses on unless she’s nearly blind without them. I can see colours fine without my glasses, but shapes get blurry after a certain point (like, farther away than my computer screen. ;D )
Is it just me or is the sword/necklace missing from his neck?
The facial bruises should be the least of his problems. Nic swung him around like a flail, smashed walls with him, stomped on him, and hit him repeatedly. Even with the armor absorbing the impact, his muscles and bones should be sore and aching. That he can move at all is a testimony to the power of youth, and he should probably need a ton of aspirin and a few days bedrest to get mobile again.
He didn’t have the facial bruises when kissing Nat — ??
