Page 1283…
Happy Monday, All!
Hope you had a great weekend!
We have some friends from Chicago visiting this weekend and through the end of the day today.
So, while I was able to get this page done…I MAY not have Tuesday’s page ready in time.
Fair warning.
If not…check us out on Wednesday.
Thanks…
Scott
It was awesome meeting you at MTAC and really do wish I could”ve bought one of your books and a figure. Next time definitely!
Looks like Alex came to just in time… he may have just lost his grip, but being conscious, I’m hoping he will at least be able to do something to prevent his falling to his death.
What exactly that will be, is still uncertain, at this point, as far as I’m concerned… Will he have to actually fight off Nic’s grip? Merely kick him and fly off? Fly and carry Nic with him? (And hold him prisoner afterwards?)
Can’t wait for the next instalment…
they’re falling into the Thunderdome.
TWO MEN ENTER!
oopsies!
I hope that eather a:Alex isin’t too out of it to fly or b:that it’s a short drop and that Nick makes a good cushion.
I smell waking up while falling in your dream.
That’s what you call a cliffhanger.. :S If Alexander wakes up from this situation, he will never be able to return to Dreamland or risk falling to his death!!
Nic is still ranting DESPITE being stabbed and falling to his doom(unless, he has enough strength to fly). So…now what :O?!?
Alexander accepted he could fly when Nasti was in his thoughts ,and he couldn’t fail her. Sooo..I think he will just fly with Nic’ hanging from his legs, slowly losing his grip due to bloodloss and fatigue…aaaaand…”Splosh’ inno de waterr..
Can’t Nic fly? I mean, if he can talk with a lung wound, he’s probably not all that injured (or heals really quickly). Either way, this does not bode well for Alex.
Do I see a hint of transparency in Alex’s hand in that last panel???? I sure hope so! Then Nic can fall to his doom, and Alex can recuperate from his battle wounds at home (which will be difficult to explain to the doctor…).
Interesting how he is quoting Isaiah. Has old Nic been reading the human bible?
Not quite… If you go back, you will see that at the end of chapter five/start of chapter six, Alex woke up mid-fall from the treasure room. After discussing it with Dan, they figured he could use his sword to slow down his descent once he got back to Dreamland.
In this case, he may or may not be able to do the same thing on the cliff face. But even if he can’t, he now knows how to fly, so going back to sleep, and being fully or at least partially recuperated, and in full control of his mind, he should be able to make the conscious effort to fly back up.
Meanwhile, his disappearing back into the waking world would cause Nic to plummet, having nothing to hang on to, anymore… Whether that would cause his demise, or whether he would simply hit “soft water”, is left up to Scott…
Someone made a comment, earlier, that Nic may have been injured around the muscles needed to use his wings… If that was the case, then his lungs would probably have been spared, leaving him able to rant, but not fly.
Uh oh…
in the words of nastaja “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”
Nicodemus: “And also, I shall be redundant and say the same thing in different ways over and over again.”
But Nic is a dragon. Is he that badly injured that he himself cant fly before hitting the water below? I understand he was stabbed by Nastaja, so that could come in to play too I know. But it still makes me wonder how much fight he has left.
Actually, if you look back at that chapter, if he wakes up while falling, apparently when he returns to Dreamland, no time has passed, which would mean that Nicodemus would still be there. This is evidenced by that fact that Felicity didn’t plummet to her death while he was awake.
Well, David and Solomon were former kings of Dreamland, and Nicodemus has been alive for a very long time, so he might have been alive when that was written, and thus heard it from a long time ago, and felt it appropriate to repeat now (which would show just how much of a god-complex he now has).
It is quite possible that Alex will wake up while falling this time (since he has done so in the past), and if that happens, then a couple things will come into play that might help him deal with Nicodemus for good. The first thing is that when he wakes up while falling, when he goes back to sleep he seems to return without any time having passed in Dreamland. This would mean that Nicodemus should still be there, but it will give Alex time to come up with a plan and remember that he can fly. The second thing is that when he wakes up without the sword, when he returns he automatically has the sword again, which means that when he returns to fight Nicodemus, he has his sword back, and Nicodemus is severely injured, which should make Alex able to finish him off fairly easily this time (and keep Nicodemus from being able to just fly away and return later).
Y’know, I just thought of something. Why is Borgnok the Dwarf King, Paddington Rumblebottom the Third, and Felcity, standing in the background and letting a Nastajia try and save a Alexander? Don’t you think Paddington, with his big heartedness and not wishing to see his friend gone again, would charge over and reach down to grab his arm?
Just saying…
If the sword went through his heart, the best he’s be able to do is gasp out a few words. Flying, IMO, would be impossible.
Nick quoted Julius Caesar in his original language (I’m thinking Latin but feel free to correct me.) with translation to English so I think Nick enjoys quoting the past kings, especially since no matter what their faults, he seemed to respect them. Arthur and his stupid ideas pushed him over the edge
Good point. I kind of forgot about them.
I’m not sure whether to *groan* or *snerk*.
The being redundant thing, ie saying “and also”, is a big pet peeve of mine.
That was a good one, by the way.
I think Scott wanted us to…
…they don’t seem very important right now, and their presence would kind of ruin the drama, IMO.
Fairies to the rescue!
I half-expect Nastajia to jump down there and try to do something. I don’t know why but I do. I sincerely hope the mermaids are on standby just in case something like that would happen.
It could be that Paddington, being as heavy as he is, thought it would hurt matters, rather than help them, if he ran onto a collapsing structure in order to catch somebody. Bognok probably also weighs a decent amount, and Felicity doesn’t have as much strength as Nastajia (and might still be too scared of Nicodemus to move, based on what happened last time she was near him).
Yep, waking up just in time! At least that’s what the transparent hand seems to indicate. I guess I should have realized, but I got so wrapped up in the drama, I didn’t see it coming! Cool!
RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!
I officially hate you, Nick.
who really knows the anatomy of a dragon? for all we know his heart could be in the middle of his gut
i sense alex is going to wake up now, which both be good and bad timing at this point.
Actually, if you look back further, it’s been established that Dreamland’s time is not directly proportionate in any way to Earth’s time. A few seconds could pass while Alex is awake, or a few days could pass. Anything can happen when it comes to time warp situations.
the way it looks that his spine is severed this would mean that he cant fly and only has his arms and be ably to speak so he trying to take Alexander with him as he dies hopping that he can kill him by tearing him apart with his claws before he dies from lack of blood remeber he was cut and now stabed straight thru the dead center of his upper chest he has to have some damage to his spinal cord and maybe his lungs.. so 2 things can happen
nic can bleed to death and fall to his death while bleeding with alex
or 2
nice cant fly due the internal injuries and the blade cut his spin this would make his wings and back legs inoperable to use and his healing is slowly trying to heal but wont be able to heal him by the time alex vanishes and nic falls to his death either way nic dies
Hey all!
Looks like I WILL have a page up for you on Tuesday. Just not tonight at midnight.
Please check back in the morning.
Thanks
Scott
I think we’re on the verge of a plot twist.
The comic is supposed to run for 24 chapters, and right now, we’re nearing the end of 16. It is exactly 2/3 of the way through the story. Stuff is going down, big time, and I don’t think that this fight is going to end in the way that we expect it to.
Let’s just hope that Mr. Sava doesn’t get too crazy on us and kill Alex.
ONE MAN LEAVES!!!
Luckily, she pierced the sac that creates the fire he breathes, now with this searing liquid coursing throughout him he will soon succumb to his own flame and spontaneously com-bust.
i think you might be right!
i belive you can see a bit of cloud through his hand on the las panel
Yes, drama is important. But, still, it would make more sense if his friends tried to save him, don’t you think? I mean, a sprinkle of the special fairy dust or something…. You would think they’d at least -TRY-, right?
if you look at alex hand very carfully in the last panel it seem like you can see the clouds though it.. is that a mistake, shadowing? or is alex picked now to wake up??
ooh! Nasti’s panic is terrificly well rendered..
HOWEVVVVER; This story is PG-13. Even though I went to “Sunday school” (bible studies for the young), I saw no resemblance AT ALL to the bible. I was just confused.
And as I was the only one I know of, the rest of the kids will have *no* experience at all to connect this to!
This is really weird. I really hope you have a point with this Scott, since right now, Nic could just as well be quoting a technical manual for rocket construction, it would make just as much sense to younger readers.
Nicodemus: “I shall rain down hell upon you, and all shall be laid to burnination!”
Alexander has disconnected from server.
Nicodemus: “@#%$#@$!!!”
