Hope you had a great weekend.
Couple things I’d like to talk to you about.
1) We have had a Forum for the last 4 years or so. It’s a great place to post fan art, ask questions, and just chat with fellow Dreamers.
I personally have been neglecting it. And have been wondering if the updates to the site (being able to reply to others in daily posts) have made the forum “outdated”.
Thoughts?
Brett Watson has been kind enough to host the forum all these years. And I don’t want to take advantage of his generosity if we’re not going to utilize it.

You aimed too high Felicity! Just one or so inches lower and my holidays would’ve been made! Still, I am loving this! It’s so good to see Felicity in top form.
And yeah, I used to be very active on the forum, but I’ve fallen by the wayside. I’m hoping to get back into everything soon, but I’m still an active reader!

You know, the comments section is almost a forum all its own.
I’d join the forum, I would, except that previous experience has shown that I become TOO involved in forums, so I tend to stay away from them.
I have one thought. If she’s kissing his nose, should she pout her lips more? They look a bit stiff.

Oh phooey! I should hope no one has an issue with potty humor since this is a comic that is supposed to be appreciated by kids. Heck, I’m 28, and it made me giggle.

I’ve never been much of a forum person myself. I’ve even neglected the one I’ve been involved in (Experts Exchange) in the past, primarily because of time and health issues.
I HAVE visited the Wiki a few times, and I like it, but haven’t really dedicated any major time to it as I originally intended to do. (See reasons above … )
As for the store … I’m looking forward to (hopefully) managing to squeeze enough out of the budget to make a purchase or two next year …

Comments allow comments of the current thread without continuity from day-to-day.
Forum allow better structured conversations on topics spanning several days.
But having both? Perhaps an intergation solution would be to have a sort of threaded forum on the main page (e.g. a list of threads with recent activity on the 4th Wall showed above the daily comments on thedreamlandchronicles.com).
I personally preferred the forum, until the lack of activity and RL made me sort of forget about it…

PS. Have to say this is soo how I imagined a cat-girl showing her appreciation for a close friend. Energetic, Frisky, somewhat playfully sultry, yet without malice.
I gather You reworked the face? The dimensions work more like the face of a grown-up woman. I like it. Now the only thing left to do is finding a way of getting Nicole to dreamland, or Felicity to the real world, so they can finally meet…[crossing fingers]
I agree for an integration system. I prefer the comments section to discussing the day’s page but if there’s a way to blend the two together, that would be great.
The potty jokes seem appropriate for Alex. I am so loving these pages.
Plus they don’t strike me the same way as your typical “potty humor” either.

I’ve always liked a comments section better than a forum if it is easier to use. Sadly I’ve neglected the forum here, but I’ll go take another look. (I like forums too)

Kids don’t enjoy potty humor? I don’t know too many who don’t like a good potty joke once in a while.
The ‘Goblins’ forum (no link, because it is NOT kiddy friendly, you have been warned) works well, with most pages getting a thread to themselves. Other topics provide for longer-term discussion – for instance, on character motivation, possible romances, the meanings of prophecies etc.
Something similar might work well for Dreamland, especially if the page-specific threads could be created as the page goes up. I suspect comments would have to be disabled to drive people towards the foruns, though, and that might disappoint a lot of people.
Love the page, love the interaction… And yes, that is some pure Felicity action, here…
About the forum, I visited it a while back, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I was planning to join it eventually, but wanted to have a few rescripted images done first, in order to have something to post. That, and I wanted to join at a time when I would have enough time to participate in the heavier, theological-minded threads as well.
Forums have trolls, dangerous! 😛
Personally I don’t have time for forums, but I do enjoy such comment features which feel quite well suited for reactions to a single page. Forums are probably better for longer, deeper discussions about the plot, characters and such.
So yeah, in a way comments outdate at least a part of your forum’s functionality, but I think they help make the comic more lively. You (Scott) might guess better than us which feature(s) are more beneficial to the comic in the long term?

I have to say though, of all the things this place really needs I personally think the one it needs most is a permanent Vote link somewhere on the page. It doesn’t matter all that much if it’s at the very top of the page, in the main menu bar, below the comic, off in the side bar or even at the very bottom of the page, just as long as it’s there somewhere on a permanent basis. For me I’d say the sidebar might be the best option, right below the Donation link. I keep looking for it there for some reason, even though I know it isn’t there. It just seems like a natural choice for a place to put it.
I don’t know if she’s really kissing him – it looks more like her lips are just barely grazing his nose in a friendly peck. She does it like the playful thing she is. I think it’s quite in character.
Lol no worries; it wasn’t overdone. It may have been ‘potty humour’ but ‘tastefully done’, if you can apply that term to potty humour. 😉
As for the forum, perhaps there could be a way to link the forum with these update posts? For example, when you click on the header for the message on the main page, it takes you to a thread in the forum, or perhaps you could have comments displayed on the forum somehow…. maybe not, but it would be interesting. Or perhaps you could give the forum extra relevance by commenting on anything interesting -e.g fanart, speculations, etc (maybe ask some moderators to keep an eye out for interesting topics etc so you don’t have to take too much time doing that) found there on the main page.
Just ideas. Great work, and I look forward to snatching up books three and four! Congratulations on getting to your fourth volume. 😀

you know(not to be rude) but this wasn’t really a potty joke, i mean some kids think a potty joke when you say something like duty, and they laugh and say back that you said doody, even so, i guess it would make us kids laugh XD maybe, i mean 12 years old and there was a little chuckle when i read this page XD

I can’t agree more! You should be actively promoting this, and the easiest way to get readers is through TWC – that’s how I found most of the comics I read.
I too tend to stay away from forums. The format here is nice tho.
I’m of two minds, actually. Nowadays I mainly just find her kind of cute.
I thought she was nipping his nose too, but I didn’t think anything of it because nipping him playfully fits way more than kissing him sweetly (even if it -is- on the nose!)

A forum is definitely better when you want to look back at an earlier day’s comments. To see if it yielded any response.
Here on the comment/blog page, it is so easy to just “fire and forget”. People often don’t seem to read other posts before they post their own comment. So most of what is posted here is redundant. Thus, it gets less interesting to bother reading it. And then less people read it, leading to even more redundant and uninteresting repeated messages etc etc, so basically it is a negative spiral.
Making it just a tiny bit more efforting to post, such as the forum – keeps out some 70% of the redundant posts. And it gives those 30 seconds to think-before-you-post, which cools off the worst hotspurs… 😉 I mean that word in a positive way though! 🙂

Especially challenging since we’ve never seen her with whiskers from what I recall.
