Ambitious plan. I like what I can see of the troop dispositions, though I think Dan may be a bit overconfident if he thinks he can devise a strategy, after a day of studying, that will surprise a dragon that has lived for hundreds (if not thousands) of years and personally known many of history’s greatest strategists …
The thing that worries me is that Dan is telling all his plans to Nicole cos he trusts her, so what if Nicole is an agent of Nic (willingly or otherwise)?
Hmm … I’m not that good with the idea revealing all battle plans to Nicole … I don’t know but I sense some sort of trouble.
I wonder if there are any wraiths around…
After all Nicole closed the door behind her, who opened it?
Let see, dark room, important details being discussed, one dragon worried about his scaly hide with access to multidimensional spies, what could possibly go wrong in this situation.

Probably irrational. But just a thought.
I agree the wraiths are around looking at all this. And here’s where the flashback creates an interesting scenario. The sword showed the wraiths in the real world during the flashback sequence. If Alex and Dan know this, then perhaps Dan is discussing all this planning on the wraiths overhearing it, because it’s all a bogus plan meant to mislead Nic.
I wonder what the wraith are plotting?

I don’t know if I trust Nicole right now. It just seems kind of out of character for her to go to Dan’s room. I agree that she might be working for Nic somehow, or that the wraiths are around. Or even both actually, Nic’s probably not to trusting a soul.
But we saw them together as young girls.
i love dan’s drawings of attack plans. lol.
Smart move not wanting us to inundate you with voice samples… perhaps when the casting calls come, if you could give us the caster’s email? 😛

I ordered all 4 books tonight – finally got my 9 year old son – also an Alex! – to start reading this comic and he didn’t want to stop when it was time for bed! Always a win when you can get your child to READ! Hope we can get them by Christmas (although if not, still OK, his birthday’s in the spring).

What if she IS nick. Or what if she has spent all of her time in the nightmare realm since her experience as a child and is like a nightmare femme fatale…. Oooh. =) lol I stopped trying to predict things with this story a long time ago because I always get it wrong. Though I could see maybe some nightmare realm dude come out of the shadows, steal the plans and Nicole getting blamed for it. Or maybe she is working for the nightmare realm. Agggh the suspense is killing me.
Do you consider Dan to be a military strategist? Many of you feel that Nicole can’t be trusted. Maybe after leaving his dorm room, Nicole’s eyes glow like the wraiths?!?
Or maybe Nicole would point out some flaws in the battle plans that’ll make Daniel say; “Great a med student AND a military strategist is there anything you CAN’T do Nicole?”
Que in the wraiths. And who said that Dan studied only a day about battles. If he half the geek we tihnk he is, he should have studied them a lot…
I don’t know there… his stats for the races are rather in-depth. =D
That and Nicodemus might not expect the attack so soon, or at night. But yeah, I have to agree with you. Chances are, Nicodemus will have the upper hand.
Finally sounds like everyone is picking up on what caught my attention days ago. the Felicity & Nichole childhood link along with a night time visit does not add up. Toss in a kiss to throw Dan off a bit and he blurbs out everything. I think Nic still has something on Felicity and that letter they’d sent back and forth to each other had something Nichole had to do to keep Felicity safe. only a theory of course (I’m not Scott after all), but sometimes though a cigar is only a cigar this kiss was not just a kiss. Good thing Dan does work for the CIA, he would have been ousted a while back. lol
Now everyone is asking about the wraiths. Didn’t anybody listen to me the past week.
I think it’s funny that everyone is questioning Nicole. What has she done to be suspicious so far (other than kissing Dan, which people seem to think is a suspicious thing)? Maybe I’m too naive, but I took this page as a scene where Dan explains things to Nicole… so we the audience could know what’s going on. Nothing less, nothing more. Personally, I hope Nicole isn’t evil. She’s a nice side character to have around in the waking world. The whole femme fatale twist seems a bit cliche… and silly, really. Why does the secondary female love interest have to turn evil, guys? Can’t Dan have a little happiness, especially since Scott threw in that “autobiographical” cute scene with her complimenting him? Just my opinion. 🙂
The wraith ideas are interesting, though – especially since the room has to be dark because Alex is sleeping. I think we all might be letting our imaginations get carried away on a few other points though… there’s a point when there are too many plot twists in a short span of time!
I don’t think Nicole is a sleeper agent, pardon the pun. 😛 She has been like most humans, accessing it as a child but being eventually shut out. The fact she has come into contact with that part of her past makes her a good ally, firmly grounded on this side but still able to understand what is going on without sticking the boys in some I-Love-Me Jackets.
But Nic has a pretty good understanding of this whole back and forth bit with Alex, so the first thing he should be doing is scouting the waking world with the wraiths, especially now that he knows the sword is back in play and giving advise, albeit in its own fashion.
Plus who is to say that the wraiths will interfere? While they are happy to let Nic run his part of the pie, if they stand aside and let Alex and Nic duke it out and then snipe off the (probably heavily damaged) winner they can take the whole thing for themselves. It would be funny if the Nightmares jumped the gun and in so doing force the Boys and Dragon to fight back to back against a common threat. But now we are just getting Machivellian. 😉
I wonder how you are reading these comments Scott. Is it like an evil mastermind going: “nope, close, nu-uh, now he has the idea” and so forth. Or more panicked as in “Damn thats a good idea why didn’t I plan it like that”.
Ooooh O_o I think You might be on to something. Sounds more plausible than “Evil Nicole” *hearing Scott vaguely snickering in the background* although..I am not the only one that raised an eyebrow about the name-correlation..Nic..Nicole..

Now if only there were computers in Dreamland. The sword could be used to record pure data as a sequence of noises, modem-style, and allow for the translation of images, video-feed and the like.

On a note unrelated to the comment I made two years ago… I’d totally have been able to do the voice of Nicodemus perfectly.
I’m pretty much an 80s cartoon villain with the added bonus feature of a (mostly) BBC English accent (with optional hints of Northern, Welsh and Cockney influence… that I can switch off if I want).
