Ok…
So…theoretically…
IF…we were to do an animated feature…
Who would you like for voices for the Dreamland Chronicles movie?
We’re getting very close to signing contracts for our movies. And I thought I’d just put this out there.
Who would you pick?
Also…
We are over 30% funded for Book Four.
I’d LOVE to get us funded sooner rather than later.
We NEED to get the order in as soon as possible to have a chance to get everyone books by Christmas-time.
So if you’re planning on ordering books. Please do so soon.
Thanks!
And don’t forget to vote for us…
No, I am pulling you leg. This is a scheme to steal all the chocolate nougats from the cafe…. Those nougats will be mine! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I’m willing to try my hand at voice-acting, if need be.
let me be a fairy in the movie! please! please!!!:p
dan is planning more than good for him I think!
Would love to lend my voice.
That would be kind of awesome, Scott!
Alexander – Wil Wheaton
Nastajia – Kirsti Alley
Kiwi – Drew Barrymore
Passdington – Jaden Smith
Nicodemus – James Earl Jones
Nicole – Haley Berry
Daniel – Mark Hamil
Felicity – Milla Jovovich
Mer-King – Sean Connery
I think Nastajia should be voiced by the woman who plays Leela on Futurama.
Paddington should be voiced by Patrick Warburton or Brad Garrett.
I think Mark Hamill would be a good choice as well – but I’d make him do a bad guy voice. Just because he’s so damn good at it!
Oh noes, now they know the plan too…. bad mojo bad mojo!
Alexander – Chris Pine
Nastajia – Milla Jovovich
Kiwi – Zooey Deschanel
Paddington – (I wish Andre the Giant were still alive to do this).
Nicodemus – Tim Curry
Nicole – Beyonce
Daniel – That kid from Zombieland.
Felicity – Cameron Diaz
Mer-King – Sean Connery (Can’t argue with this one)
Head Dwarf – Willem Dafoe
Nicole looks skeptical!
James Earl Jones was my first thought for Nic as well!
Times like this I wish I had, or even knew an agent… If nothing else, a self-submission would have more weight if there was more than one credit on my IMDB page… >_>
Alexander – Yuri Lowenthal
Daniel – Aron Eisenberg
Nastajia – Chloë Annett
Kiwi – Drw Barrymore
Paddington – Robbie Coltrane (with a digital stone scuffing/grating sound)
Nicodemus – Ralph Fiennes
Nicole – Nona Gaye
Felicity – Lucy Liu
Arvamas – Jonathan Pryce
Oberon and Titania – Christopher Lee and Francesca Annis
Orion – Graham Green
Absolutely James Earl Jones for Nicodemus. It was the first thing that came to mind.
Leela is voiced by Katey Segal, who also played Peggy Bundy in “Married.. With Children” ((Hooray for random trivia bits?))
Voices?
That’s a big bill to fill, but promise me you’ll get chuck norris
I do voices. See my website. leethevoice.com
I think it would be great to have the voice done by fans. Might be hard to audition and get them where they can be recorded, but it would be a cost savings and an excellent tribute to you, Scott and the Chronicles.
I second Village Idiot’s recommendation. It’s hard to break into voice acting here in the midwest. :p
I’d say no-names, as long as they’ve got the right voices, but then you wouldn’t get the draw that the big names would bring as well, and I do expect you’d like to make money on the movie.
I do think, however, that, as big names go, Morgan Freeman ought to be in there somewhere, perhaps as the sword!!
Let me see….hmmm!
Alexander-Peter Fernandez(had he lived) but either Tony Oliver or Malcolm Duncan McNeil
Nastajia-Megan Fox
Orion-Don Cornelius
Daniel-Neil Patrick Harris
Nicodemus-Peter Cullen
Paddington-Matthew Lilard
Kiwi-Rebbecca Forstatd(a.k.a.Reba West-voice of Minmei from Robotech)
Nicole-Grey Deluise
Felicity-Corrine Orr
Some of these voice actors may or may not be familiar to you!
Depends on the budget we’re assuming.
Me, I’d like to do Nicodemus myself. I can do a wide range of voices but the deep-voiced badguy is one of my favorites.
It also depends on who’s available. For some reason I keep hearing Alex with Michael J. Fox’ voice, but I don’t know what his condition currently is. If we’re talking currently-working Big Names, Brendan Fraser for Alex — he knows EXACTLY how to do that kind of character. Marg Helgenberger (sp? — plays Catherine on CSI) would have a great voice for Nastajia. Morgan Freeman as the Sword is a nice idea, though I think he might do better as our Centaur friend. Christopher Lee as Nicodemus, if I can’t do him. Sarah-Michelle Gellar for our favorite Fairy — she’s got the wiseass to carry it off. Freema Agyeman for Nicole.
Sorry to go against the grain but in the interest of professionalism I am very much against fan voice acting. I’ve heard a lot of projects that had fans do the voices and it just sounds so unprofessional; you can hear background noise, hiss, the EQ is all over the shop, and the voice-acting itself is really mediocre. There is a reason why professional voice-acters are chosen for professional jobs: they’re actually good at it.
Also this project is still only being talked about, so it probably doesn’t work to pick 40-something year old voices for characters that are in their early 20s.
I would pick someone like Zac Efron as the voice of Alex, and Michael Cera as Dan.
For some reason, although various people have mentioned James Earl Jones for Nicodemus, I always imagined him having a higher voice, more like Hugo Weaving, I guess. Although Christopher Lee wouldn’t be a bad choice, either.
I also imagined King Arthur speaking with Sean Connery’s voice, but maybe that’s because of that one movie where Sean Connery played King Arthur. He needs to be voiced by -someone- from the UK, in any case, as does Merlin.Maybe Peter Firth for Arthur and Hugh Laurie for Merlin.
Lots of great choices so far, I like James Earl Jones for Nicodemus. The only other one I’d have a real preference for would be Nicole Sullivan for Felicity…she did the voice of Shego in the Kim Possible cartoon. I see Felicity as having the same smart-alecky attitude as Shego and I love Nicole Sullivan’s voice.
Okay…I’m going to second a few suggestions that I liked…
Kiwi – Drew Barrymore
Arvamas – Jonathan Pryce
Paddington – Robbie Coltrane (with appropriately altered voice to sound rocky)
Felicity – Lucy Liu
Nicole – Nona Gaye
Orion – Graham Green
Nicodemus – Peter Cullen (or Christopher Lee…that would be awesome too)
Now for a few ideas of my own… 🙂
Alexander – Mark-Paul Gosselaar (what?? Who HASN’T pictured Zack Morris as Alex?)
Nastajia – Kate Beckinsale (with her natural accent please 🙂 )
Oberon – Gabriel Byrne (pretty please???)
Titania – Jane Seymour
King Arthur – Sean Connery (heehee…someone had to say it)
Lead Wraith – Andy Serkis (he delights both with the Gollum voice, and with his own when evil like in Inkheart as Capricorn…take your pick of his talents)
Daniel – I have to admit that for this one I’m drawing a complete blank…so I’ll leave it to others to make suggestions.
The voice of the Sword = Alan Rickman
The voice of Nicodemus = Tim Curry
Alex-the guy who played Haku in Spirited Away (last name Marsden??)
Nastajia-Carrie Ann Moss
Kiwi or Felicity-Anne Hathaway
Daniel-Billy West
Paddington- Mark Hamill (imagine a VERY low pitched Joker)
Nic-Ian McCellan
I know everyone is thinking of:
Drew Barrymore for Kiwi, but the wings made me think a little more flighty and came up with Jenna Elfmann instead.
Sean Connery as the Dwarf King
Yes – Halli Berry as Nicole
Yes – James Earl Jones as Nic
Yes – Kate Beckinsale for Nastajia
Morgan Freeman as Orion
Christopher Judge as Paddington
Luke Perry as Alexander
Matthew McConaughey as Daniel
He could voice the Nightmare Realm wraiths.
Yes, his last name is Marsden. Jason Marsden. He’s done quite a bit of work with animated films and shows, actually, and I totally second this vote for him. I love his voice. ^_^
I second that vote for Kate Beckinsale as Nastajia!
I would love to see Patrick Stewart do Nicodemus. not to mention all the experience he has had as a voice actor
There is only one man who can play Nic.
Only one man who can get the /evil/ into the voice. Because he is evil incarnate.
Tim. Curry.
Ooo, pick me! Well, the only thing I have going for me is a face made for radio/animation.
And I was gonna suggest James Earl Jones for Nic, but I was beaten to it about…oh, a million times already.
Dan is working up some serious point here, I’m thinking.
i also agree on the no-names. like, mostly no-names and one or two supporting big names.
HA! Alan Rickman as the sword! much love ^_^
“Who would you like for voices for the Dreamland Chronicles movie?”
I would highly recommend not picking any big name actors to do any voices. Find good voice actors to do the voices. Actors are not voice actors. Plus, I’m relatively certain it will be both less costly and better quality.
It’s not about who would make a great (insert character name here) it’s about finding the right voice for an already fleshed out character. You’re not looking an actor to flesh-out and play a character on screen, you are looking for a voice for a character that is already fleshed out.
I would guess that a good way to do this would be to have a large picture of the character set up in a sound studio and have the auditioning voice actors come in and be hidden from view. They then provide a voice for the character in various inflections, tones, accents etc. If the voice doesn’t feel like it fits the character, keep trying.
If I remember correctly, Nancy Cartwright, who voices Bart Simpson, originally tried out for the role of Lisa’s voice. She didn’t get that part, but when she was shown a picture of Bart and asked to do a voice for him, she came up with the voice we have all been familiar with for over 20 years. The casting people heard the voice and said “That’s Bart Simpson.”
Sean Connery for King Author, and the guy who played Dumbledor for Merlin
I don’t have any REAL suggestions, but I think Felicia Day should be in there somewhere! Maybe as Kiwi or Felicity =D
And that guy who played Red Mist in Kickass should be Daniel… his voice is just the right amount of nerdy! XD ~shrug~
Alex, Alex…hmm…I always pictured him sounding like your stereotypical American jock. Who sounds like that?
Alex: Like Sea Wasp, I think Michael J Fox has the best voice for Alex.
Nastajia: Jennifer Hale doing her Shepard voice, ideally.
Titania: Ellen McLain
Oberon: Alan Rickman
Kiwi: Y’know, Drew Barrymore actually sounds like a good suggestion.
Nicodemus: Stephen Fry! STEPHEN FRY.
Sword: I have this voice in my head, but I can’t think of anyone that would fit it. Some sexy lady voice, though. Scarlett Johansson, maybe? Maybe.
Hi, long-time lurker here.
I’d strongly second Haydon’s comment. So long as the actor’s got proven voicework experience, I really don’t think it matters if they have a track-record on screen. And a good voice actor will be able to do nearly any character. For instance, Dan Castellaneta looks nothing like Homer Simpson, or the Robot Devil from Futurama, or Nordom from Planescape Torment. And judging by his voice from his appearance in Stargate, he doesn’t sound like them either… except when he chooses to.
I suspect the same will be true of most good voice actors.
I totally agree with you, I am a huge fan of voice actors and they are so much more talented than people give them credit for.
Billy West (who voices nearly half the cast of Futurama) would be a great choice for Daniel, Orion, and plenty of side-characters as well. Breckin Meyer would be a good choice for Alexander, I think. Tress Macneille is also fabulous, and would be great as Kiwi or Felicity. Nic is hard, because people with the right sort of depth and timbre in their voice to pull of a giant dragon is kind of hard! I think Frank Welker could do it, I am a huge fan of his.
Patrick Warburton should do Paddington. Nastajia…now that’s a tough voice to cast, but I think it would have to be someone with the sort of sophisticated, controlled voice like Rachel Weiz to pull it off.
You want the man who does Darth freaking Vader to do the voice of Nicodemus… You are insane. More so than me. Congratulations on achieving that.
Actually, I would suggest using a computer-generated effect for the Sword’s voice, overlaying multiple voices into one. Kind of like the Borg, but not quite so many voices (and not quite so menacing!).
Patrick Stewart is an awesome voice actor; I could see him in several of the parts, but somehow I think he would fit best as Orion.
Oo! A thought just occurred to me; I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Keifer Sutherland would make a perfect Nicodemus.
And how about Jim Dale for Arvamas? 😉
Hmm, I would also definitely consider Seth McFarlane for ALL of the supporting minor characters …
Let’s see, who else … Phil LaMarr is an excellent voice actor as well, and could handle multiple roles … I could see (well, hear) him doing Paddington.
Michael Rosenbaum (Lex in Smallville, and Flash in several animated series) might make a good choice for Alex.
I would love to recommend Nathan Fillion, but I have no idea what role he’d be suited for …
😉
I don’t have an extensive list of cast suggestions, but here are a few:
Alex: Will Friedle
Nastajia: Nancy Sullivan
Kiwi: Joan Jett
Sword: Patrick Warburton
(So I’m a fan of Kim Possible. Shoot me)
I meant Nicole Sullivan for Nastajia.
Don’t really have any idea for anyone else, but the voice of Alexander could be done well by Craig Horner, the actor from Legend of the Seeker. There’s a lot of similarities to the character, though Alexander is more immature, that I’ve naturally had Craigs voice narrating Alex’s speech for a while.
Sorry to get back to the comic, but it’s a bit “breaking the 4th wall” to see Nicole looking directly at the reader in the last panel rather than at Dan or slightly away from the reader.
Tragically, I don’t think James Earl Jones woudl be a good choice for Nic because his disembodied voice is already so familiar to everyone in the target audience as a different character.
Scott, how about your african-american friend who did the one-shot monster special for TLC a while back? He’s got the voice for Nick and his intelligence comes through it, which is essential to avoid a one-dimensional heavy.
I would like to hear John Rhys-Davies play one of the parts, personally, because he’s got a great voice. I also like the suggestions of Mark Hamill, Alan Rickman, and Morgan Freeman. That being said, it might not be as feasible to get a lot of really big Hollywood names for the movie because that might increase the budget by a lot (though a couple can help boost interest), especially when there are so many good voice actors out there. As for those: Johnny Yong Bosch, David Lodge, and Derek Stephen Price are three good voice actors as well (known for playing roles in the anime Bleach).
I’ve worked with Will before. Great guy!
Hey all!
Thanks for the great recommendations!
One thing to consider…
The studios will NOT put out a movie unless it has BIG NAMES to help sell it.
This isn’t up to me. This is how the industry works.
So keep that in mind.
OMG! Will Friedle would be a great Alex! somewhere inbetween Ron Stoppable and Terry McGuiness, i think.
I really think that many of these suggestions have been great. And a lot of big name actors have been doing voice-overs in animated movies the past few years. It’s kind of become trendy for them, I think.
That said, I think you would get a lot of good talent out of the cast of Star Trek: the next generation. All of them have fantastic talent, and a proclivity for working on projects aimed at youth.
Patrick Stewart could easily fill the roles for Orion, Arthur, the Sword, or even Nicodemus.
Brent Spiner has a great comedic voice. I could see him as Paddington, though I like the Robbie Coltrane idea a lot.
Levar Burton is a great voice, too. Maybe on a supporting role.
Michael Dorn could be Nicodemus, he has the deep, yet cultured voice to pull it off.
Anywhoo, those are my two cents
Nicodemus: Jeremy Irons (or someone else with a really sinister British accent)
Alex: Will Friedle
Paddington: Brad Garret
Nicole: Cree Summer
My pics so far are…
Nicodemus: Alan Rickman
Alexander: Ashton Kutcher
Paddington: Brad Garret
That’s all I have so far…
For Nastajia…want a british voice.
For Daniel…maybe someone like Seth Rogen
long time lurker, here, chiming in for the fun of it
Oh Will Friedle for Alexander definitely, if you could get him.
Daniel – Funny enough, I could actually hear Mark Hamill with this one, no matter how good his villains. Barring him, there’s David Kaufman.
Nastajia – Jennifer Hale. Or Grey DeLise.
Kiwi – Kristin Chenoweth! Okay this is just fan wishing.
Paddington – Kevin Michael Richardson.
Nicodemus – Michael York. He does great villains with that hint of the brutal refinement. Oh Clancy Brown would be perfect, in that respect, very deep, bass voice, bit of gravel.
But really, at the end of it, I’d rather good voice actors than just big names for the sake of having big names. Though after watching How To Train Your Dragon, I can totally hear Gerard Butler as the dwarf king xD
I dunno, I’d lean more towards Earl Boen for Nicodemus. Not quite as deep as Vader, but the man can deliver the best smug, self-satisfied villain voice you’ve ever heard.
Oooo…I LIKE that sword voice! 🙂
Tim Curry as Nic….only if his voice was altered as it was in Legend. 🙂
While I very much agree with your point, I don’t know any voice actors to suggest, so I picked actors based on how much I like their voices behind the animated faces I already know. 😛
I still say Kate Beckinsale would have a great Nastajia voice….and she’s British! Pretty please??? 🙂
Ashton Kutcher? I didn’t even think of that. He’d be great!
Well – for Nicodemus, I’d go for Christoph Waltz. Hey, that guy got an Oscar 🙂
Alexander – Shia LaBoeuf
Daniel – Daniel Radcliffe
Nicole – Cameron Diaz (gg)
Nastajia – I can’t refrain: Monica Bellucci. Especially with italian accent. ^^
Paddington – noooo idea …
Merlin – mebbe Michael Gambon (the one who did Dumbledore in the last cinema-installment of Harry Potter)
… let’s have /dev/brain rumble a bit more.
You’ll have to fit Nathan Fillion (Mal from firefly) somewhere in there.
Oh! DEFINITELY get Patrick Warburton in on this movie! He’s pretty much one of my favorite voices ever. And he’s done voice acting for a few independent animated films, so he is, I hope, a real possibility.
The sword should totally be Patrick Harris it would be so awesome!
I think real kids who are fans of the comic should do the voices for the younger kids when you see them in dreamland… I know that it’s not professional or anything, but i think it would be really cool.
I wish i could say i knew enough voice actors to suggest any, but i don’t.
I like the windchimes in the background, by the window. Never noticed them before. ^_^ I like windchimes.
I like the idea of Kate…but my wife Donna’s not a fan of her (long story).
I’m also worried that we may need to get a younger actress for Nastajia. Don’t want her sounding too old.
Can you hear age in a woman’s voice?
OOooh. Alan Rickman for Nic would be. so. so. awesome.
For Nastajia, how about Jennifer Hale? She’s not British, but she faked one heck of an accent for the Knights of the Old Republic games.
Here’s the Nickelodeon tv show pilot I did (with my buddy Mike) where we worked with Will Friedle, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Harland Williams.
They’re all wonderful people. I’d definitely work with them again.
Unfortunately…as I mentioned…the studios look for stars.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0aXTae7B3Y
I know there have already been a ton of “Me!”s, but I DO have acting experience and would absolutely LOVE to do a voice. *le sigh* I’m totally with James Earl Jones or Alan Rickman as Nic, or Morgan Freeman.
definately like alan rickman. what about lawerence fishbourn in there or maybe jada picket smith in there some where
or maybe jeremy irons
karey elwis from princess bride the guy that played wesley
Viggo Mortensen for Orion. Remember his speech at the black gate.
British voice for the Nastaja and a big name? Angelina Jolie fulfills both prerequisites, and she is very talented at voice acting (Beowolf comes to mind).
Open Auditions online and offline! I’d LOVE to put my acting skills to this! 😀
I’m not going to nail down specific voices, but a general theme. If you need big names (which you do) pick them for the supporting characters. King Arthur, Merlin, Orion, the Dwarf King, Nicodemus, stuff like that. Pick younger (and cheaper) voices for the six main characters (counting Nichole as a main character). That seems to be a standard in doing a lot of animated movies as it gets the big names in, but saves money since they aren’t in EVERY scene and such. 🙂
Chiron (is that the centaur’s name?)- William Shatner.
Mer-King- Morgan Freeman
Nicodemus-whoever played Golem (not sure of his name)
Others, maybe open to the fans with acting talents.
Mark Hammill definitely for some of the voices. Jeremy Irons for Nicodemus or perhaps King Arthur.
Patrick Stewart would make a good Arthur too I think.
I totally get wanting to put big names/famous celebrities on this project, and for the most part it would be kick-@$$. But honestly, I think having some cast members being actors prominent in the voice acting community would be fantastic. :3 I would definitely put my vote in for giving Scott McNeil a role, here’s a list of some things he’s done. He’s very versatile. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_McNeil If nothing else, he has so much range he could pretty much provide the voices for any extra you’d need in the background. XD;
I can see where people are coming from suggesting James Earl Jones providing for Nicodemus, but to be perfectly honest I always imagine him with a higher tone, something more serpent-like or reptilian sounding, maybe a bit scratchy when he speaks. Can’t really think of a good example right now, aside from maybe that villain in the old G.I. Joe cartoons. XP;
I totally think that for big names/big-ish names, I without a doubt vote for Ian McKellen being Arvamas, Christopher Lee as ANYBODY (also perhaps Pistacio or the Mer-King would be best ) and, please give this one a chance/some thought, Matthew Gray Gubler as Daniel. He’s not a HUGE big name yet, but he’s getting popular and really is a wonderful actor. Here’s his wiki page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Gray_Gubler
Anyway, those are the thoughts of one fan.
Interesting thought… Doesn’t KMR do the voice of the Joker for “The Batman”? Might be fun to have both him and Mark Hammil do roles in the same movie.
I was thinking more like Tim Curry for Nic.
ooo Forgot all about Hugo Weaving. He would be PERFECT.
I find it interesting that he thinks he can rid dreamland of the dragon. Where would our dreams take us if it was not for the nightmare?
I don’t know many voice actors. But I would suggest Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime in Transformers) for Merlin and John-Rhys Davies (Gimli and Treebeard in Lord of the Rings) for Paddington. For Nic I would suggest Brian Blessed (Boss Nass in Starwars The Phantom Menace, Emperor Augustus in I Claudius) he has the right voice for a dragon.
For the others I don’t know
Forgot to include one other suggestion yesterday.
Michael Clarke Duncan for Nicodemus.
You can definitely hear it in some voices (think of what Julie Andrews sounds like now compared to when she was younger). I personally think Kate still sounds quite young, but I’m also a fan of hers. Sad times that your wife is not. 🙁 In any event, I think it needs to be a voice very much like hers. It’s the right pitch, right accent, good tonal quality…you can go younger still, but only to a point. Somehow, thanks to Hollywood’s tendency to cast 20-somethings in teenaged roles for many films and tv shows, anyone younger sounds like a child.
I halfway thought of Catherine Zeta-Jones when I was making my list, but I decided her voice was a little too deep and earthy/sultry for Nastajia. It also has a little bit of age in it that you wouldn’t want.
As for a British voice that sounds young, you might look at going with Emma Watson, who is mainly known for Harry Potter, but is now 20 years old (so should have a young, but not too young sounding voice) and has done a role as a voice actress (The Tale of Despereaux). She is also a big name right now, especially with younger generations.
I always heard Nastajia with an accent, just don’t ask me to identify said accent. LOL Seriously though, if you could get Kate Beckinsale, I bet I’d have a MUCH easier time convincing my friends to see it since we all adore her. Tell Donna to watch Serendipity, I’d bet she’d appreciate Kate more.
Jason Marsden as Alex, WIN!!
Seconded. Tim played Doviculus in Brutal Legend and WOW, WHAT A VILLIAN!
Does anyone remember Geoffrey Holder? He did the Narration for Willy Wonka. I think he would do well as the voice of the head centaur.
Is Nicole working for the Nightmare Realm?
My first thought for Nic was more cold and less haughty- Terrence Stamp
Nicodemus – Tim Curry
Alex – James Marsden as voted above a few times
Nastajia – Kate Beckinsale
Any character voiced by Frank Oz and BIlly West would be fabulous.
Angelina Jolie would be an awesome voice for Nastajia! (I just picture her performance in Kung Fu Panda as Tigress.) Chris Pine has the perfect voice for Alex.
I personally would love Josh Keaton as Alex. I loved his work in Spectacular Spiderman and Hercules, and he’s hilarious, too!
Michael Clarke Duncan could make a good Paddington, or a city guard, etc. He does get a bit type-cast in big-guy roles because he genuinely is one. As to Nastajia, perhaps Nicole Kidman? Not sure how ‘young’ she sounds or doesn’t, but I’d say she could pull off the attitude. I’d also recommend Graham Greene or Tom Jackson as Orion, though I have no idea how available they are.
Okay, let me try a list I’ve had before:
Alexander: Shia LaBoeuf
Nastajia: Kate Beckinsdale (Agreement with prior posts…if a British accent is needed she’s got it)
Paddington: Kevin Grievieux
Kiwi: Sarah Michelle Gellar
Felicity: Jen Taylor
Nicodemus: Christopher Walken
Dan: Jay Baruchel
Bognok: Gerard Butler
Nicole: Zoe Saldana
“Mister Carter.”
* Maurice LaMarche… most people know him as Brain from “Pinky and the Brain”. He’s an incredibly versatile voice actor who adds great touches to his characters. I’d go so far as to lay the characters out for him, ask him which ones he wants to take a shot at, then listen to the results. You won’t be disappointed.
Kate Beckinsdale is an interesting choice for Staj, though I suspect there’s a bit of people thinking in conventional movie terms. If you were doing a live action movie, she’d definitely be the princess, and she’d fit like Jolie fit Lara Croft. As a voice that needs to convey gravity, sadness, depth all by itself… I’d have to hear her try.
Rickman would be complicated as Nic, because everyone hears that voice now and thinks “Snape!” I’d shy away for that reason, which is too bad because Snape is actually a very good analogue to the kind of complex villain you need. Right idea, wrong guy.
Alexander: Ashton Kutcher…. Ugh. You’re too far in the goofy direction. Try something that shades a bit more to the center.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t add at least one left field, curveball thought, so… Adam West as the dwarven king. It would step away from the now stereotyped John Rhys-Davies gravelly approach to dwarves, and the parts he’s done like “Grey Ghost” in the animated Batman series shows that he does tragic but finally heroic characters quite well.
oh wow, a movie?! that’s so cool! uhh, not really all that good with imagining how people’s voices sound like but whoever voiced Hiccup’s dad in How To Train Your Dragon could be the dwarf king’s voice for sure! x]
I’d love to work on the animation and stuff for that…not as an actual animator yet but most likely as an intern maybe x]
cool stuff 🙂
That was Gerard Butler
The most Scottish sounding viking bunch I’ve ever heard btw
(I loved the film though)
I don’t care how or who, but get Natalie Portman in there somehow. I love her. xD
Hmmm, voice actors. That’s tough…
Well, if you were going to go British for Nat, perhaps the lady who played “Young Sophie” in “Howl’s Moving Castle”? She was pretty good.
I dunno; I’d say go check out actual voice acting studios to find good actors. There are some pretty dern good ones out there!
Also, I’d be super stoked if a movie ended up being made. D:
I recommend Heath Ledger for…oh…wait…
