Sorry about the delay with the page. Donna and I were in a car accident yesterday.
Donna had to go get Xrays and such. But so far…we seem to be ok.
Just thankful the boys weren’t in the car with us.

I assume that Dan would appear wherever Alex last was in Dreamland, and the only reason he might not be able to wake up is if he loses the sword.

Hmm, I guess Dan has a point. But I still hope that he at least tries.
Seriously, Scott, take it easy this weekend. Take it from someone who has been in a couple of accidents myself, backed by a “hetero-life-partner” who was an EMT for almost 20 years: the shock you’re in for the first day or two after an accident can mask pain and injuries that you won’t feel until later.
With your history with your back, I predict that at the very least you will be very sore later today or tomorrow.
So take the time you need, even if you miss an update or three next week, and take care of Donna. And be sure to let her know we’re thinking about her, and those of us that pray are praying for her (and you, of course).

Glad to hear that you’re alright Scott, do as TekServer says and relax this weekend (both you and Donna). You don’t want stress any injuries that could have been a result of the accident anymore. Take a 3-day weekend and lay down on a comfy bed for a good bit.You know your fans care more about you and your family than they do the comic!

I have to concur with shavenjesus; your post seems a bit disjointed. I’m glad health-wise it was nothing serious, but definitely take it easy this weekend. Hopefully the other driver and cars are well and good, too. 🙂

I’m glad you’re in the preliminary stages of being okay, but injuries and muscle damage can show up in the few days after the accident. I hope you’re both still okay in the days/weeks to come.

onto today’s page: i can understand Dan’s hesitance, after all, he’s never dreamt before. but ye gods, Dan, i don’t get where you’re coming up with all these “what ifs”.
and i’m a little, ok a lot, annoyed with Alex right now. how long has he had the sword necklace and he’s just NOW offering it to Dan now that there’s something he doesn’t want to do? although, to be fair, i guess there wasn’t a good opportunity to.

Really glad youre ok. My advice, rent a bunch of movies, buy snacks, order pizza or chinese, and then stay home and get on each others nerves all weekend. Me i plan on beating up imaginary monsters online. 🙂
Ahh, probably end up somewhere on Orientation Island until someone sends him a TP request or he learns how to fly and ends up on one of the home regions. Is this part of the main grid? 😛
I mostly imagine him ending up in Buttonville Heights or near Gardenia… those places seem relatively safe, like a “starting level” for the kids entering Dreamland for the first time. Still, does this mean the sword can teleport significant distances within Dreamland, or is it confined to its previous location like Alex? It may be significant in scientific studies of time travel, especially considering the temporal fluctuations that exist between both worlds.

For some silly reason, I though Alex had moved beyond his whole *breaks out the quotey fingers* “Ducking out of responsibility because it gets tough and scary” phase.
The real question is is do you want someone that dumb ruling Dreamland? Cute and well meaning versus dumb, thoughtless, clumsy, hormonal……

Yeah, I totally agree. Alex is a very cool character, but he’s right – he’s totally unsuited to lead. Dan has definite potential, though, dreamer or not…
Ideally, though, you’d like one person with the good qualities of both. Or joint rulers…
I can understand Dan’s nervousness, I have to admit. Don’t forget everyone, this will be the first time he has EVER dreamed in his whole life, if it works. And he has no way at all of knowing what on Earth to expect… He has every right to be scared.
I’d imagine Dan can’t enter Dreamland even with the sword because he’s still the firstborn.
The cliff/underwater/nightmare realm is probably out though since that would involve someone moving the sword there.

Hmmm hesitation, perhaps the Idea of Dan being king isn’t quite as obvious as it originally seemed. In order to be a leader of anything, yes you have to be able to think, but also have to “grow a pair” and take those leaps others might not. There alas is the truly trying aspect of leadership, where ever the leap leads there will be a great number following you down that path.

Right now, they both look unsuited to kingship. Right now. I think they could both be great rulers, each in their own way, in the future. Yes, I also thought Alex had overcome his insecure phase, but I guess Dreamland keeps throwing lots of stuff at you and it’s easy, even natural, to fall back to that kind of behaviour.
Oo, well put! You’re absolutely right. Whomever’s gonna end up as the king he’ll have to really grow a pair, as you said. And accept huge responsibilities…

Seems like a classic case of avoidance on Alex’s part here. He’s trying to foist off his responsibility on Dan so he doesn’t have to deal with it. Not quite sure why most people see this as his “not over-analyzing” the situation. I think he’s analyzed it pretty well. Especially when we remember Nastajia’s final words to him before he woke up, which had a serious undertone of “I am going to be SO ANGRY when you get back.”

Also, to Scott – I agree with everyone else, make sure you get checked out at the slightest sign of pain, because it can mean more serious damage than you think.

I really seem to be one of the few against Dan putting on that necklace. ‘Staj will be mad that Alex chickened out, and I can’t imagine that anyone in Dreamland, with the exception of Nic, liking the fact that their king was a coward and couldn’t face the fact that he would have to wage war. This is something Alex has to work out for himself, not run away and send in a subordinate when the going gets rough. Also, all the people there would be going “Who the heck is this guy, and why did he appear where Alex just was?” They don’t know Dan, what he looks like, who he is as a person. I think it is a very bad idea to let Dan try it now. Wait a few days, once all the action has died down, then send in Dan.
On another subject, I’m very glad you and Donna are okay. I don’t have a license yet, nor have I been in a crash, but I’ve seen enough to know how terrifying that can be. Just glad you guys are okay, but take it easy. I’d have nightmares (probably courtesy of Nic and his Nightmare Realm friends) for weeks about another car accident.

I think this kind of thinking is why it’s better that Alex is the King of Dreamland, but in reality I see these two as two sides of the same coin. Which is interesting in the nature vs nurture debate and the fact that their twins. If you could combine them into one person, they/he would be the perfect King. As it stands since only one may enter Dreamland, I think Alex will be getting lots of advice from his brother for the duration of his reign.

Take care of yourself and Donna, spend a bit of time with the kids because I’m sure they’ve had a bit of a shock over all of this, even if they weren’t in the car for the actual accident.
Then worry about the comic and us, we’ll still be here waiting patiently – family first though.

Ask yourself, ‘what is worse? To reach the end and wait a day for each new comic, or reach the end, and know that there is no more?’
Perhaps it’s the sheer probability of the fact that nearly everyone you know interacts with moving vehicles on a regular basis?
What if…. they both go to sleep with the sword-chain bound around both their wrists?
Nothing suggested it has to explicitly be around the neck, and the little pouch thing worked in the palm of the hand…. SO if they fit the chain around both their wrists, maybe they could both be DUAL KINGS!
