Shakespeare, Hamlet. And most scientists agree: science is, by it’s nature, limited. Expanding, but always limited.
I strongly disagree. Any fragment of mathematically proven truth raises alot more questions than it answers. Without any indication of such a trend declining, there is no limit to science. And that’s a statistical (scientific) approach, not a philisophical (abstract).
I think its kind of an inherent contradiction for her to say everything can be proven through science and then say that thinking otherwise is simple-minded.
Even scientific belief is predicated by a particular bias of faith- She has faith that science can find the answers, whereas Alex has faith that philosophy, religion, and experience hold the answers to their “dilemma.”
Oh, and I looked at the final panel wrong, and the image somehow, to me, looked as though Alex had his hand on her chest and was holding Dan’s collar. xD
We’ve got two horrific cases of straw-manning here…
But as for Dan’s opening statement? That is the single most idiotic thing he has said thus far, and thus far almost everything that has breached his lips has been inane drivel.
Thinking scientifically is ALL about seeking the most consistent explanation for the workings of the universe so as to proxy the idea of objective truth. NOT thinking scientifically is almost guaranteed to give lesser results.
O’course claiming everything can be proven scientifically is way too much of a sweeping statement for a member of a race that hasn’t even visited the next nearest star yet.
Your realy good at this computer designing thing you do keep up the good work!!!
Her response is… AWESOME!!!! “No…I believe it’s been an ONGOING problem…but that’s just my INITIAL DEDUCTION.”
Opposites attract. 😛
Yggdrasil: ongoing for the few sentences they’ve been exchanging and initial because they’ve just met.

Science has limitations. 😐
Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”
I knew there was a reason I didn’t like Nicole. D:

but that’s the nature of a limit, to stop a trend suddenly without notice.
It’s a shame he had to break it up, but I guess it makes sense. He could go on FOREVER if it continued.
Alex being the voice of reason and restraint just seems so wrong.
“Everything can be proven scientifically.” Isn’t that a logical fallacy in and of itself? That statement itself is a philosophical one.

He didn’t make it that far, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was thinking “OMG I’m touching a girl” in that last panel.
Aww, look. They’re flirting!
I think love is in the air. 😀
So… when is the wedding?
