Let us learn more of his brother… the true King. Especailly if he will be tasty with cheese dip…
Woow! Am I really the first to comment?! Moving to the other side of the planet does have its advantages.
Well then, it would seem Dan IS in for a spot of trouble.
Side note: totally mistook MILORD for MILFORD
DAMN! MISSED IT!
Go, Alex! Wake up and warn your brother!
Good thing Alex bailed on that meeting so he can get home before the wraiths show up. Yay for dodging responsibility!
Hmm. At first I didn’t get it. Why would Nic not want to just kill Dan and Alex by using the Wraiths to do so in the waking world?
But then I remembered that this would just cause a new king to arise somewhere else. Someone who is much more accustomed to power (like Solomon, Julius Ceaser, Athur, etc. were in the past). Nic is probably thinking that he can manipulate and/or neutralize Dan without taking the risk of the sword ending up in someone like Colin Powell’s hands.
Buuuuut…if Arthur has moved on, shouldn’t Daniel be able to come to Dreamland now? And if he’s really king, what does that mean for Alex? He doesn’t want to be king, but everyone’s telling him that he is…
Dear Scott Christian Sava, please start updating five times a day so we can get to the end sooner SO I CAN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.
I had thought, by Nic’s remark about Dan being the “TRUE king”, that perhaps this means that Nic might be willing to support Dan as Dreamland’s king, and thus resume the role of being the king’s adviser. But then I thought again about it and began to have some doubts…
It’s a toss up between Nic wanting to stay in control of Dreamland, or if he’s actually acknowledging someone else as being the true king (even if it’s not Alex)…
Definitely can go multiple ways with it. As always, I look forward to reading as the tale unfolds.
I wish he would just put more content in each page.
Out of all of the comics I read this one has the slowest pace, anywhere from 1 to 4 lines per page.
only 3 pages, but still a great week!!!
Any news on the latest book from IDW???
Exactly! If Arthur was the reason Dan could not dream, and Arthur now is gone, Dan should all of a sudden be able to dream and go to Dreamland. But then we have the problem of a new King: Alex. And Arthur is supposed to have passed on at the time Alex pulled the sword out of the stone, years ago.
So I guess nothing has changed. Or has it?
Why do the wraiths only NOW announce that Arthur has passed on? Hmmm!
It would be nice if Dan suddenly wound up in DL, and met with Alex, prefereably without the use of a medallion.
Milford. ::snicker:: I can just hear it. Milford Nicodemus Drakonis, did you clean up your room? =)
Watch your back, Dan!
You guys are forgetting that adults don’t go to Dreamland. Only children do. Think of Nicole…she dreamed as a child, but she doesn’t go to Dreamland anymore when she sleeps. There’s not a clause that says “Only children can visit Dreamland…except if there’s a person who was unable to visit due to a fluke in Dreamland’s rules about kings.”
Besides, isn’t that rule still technically in play? While Alex is King (which the sword said he was), no other potential kings may enter in order to prevent possible conflicts over the throne or some such?
Oh noes! Dan could be in trouble! Now I’m wondering a couple of things…
1. Is this “Meanwhile” bit simultaneous to Alex waking, or to some part of the sword’s tale of the history of Arthur? I imagine that the story took quite some time, but I don’t know how long it would take for Nic to fly to the Tomb.
2. Are the Wraiths visible when they enter the human world to spy on people? I know Merlin was able to interact with them, but he’s Merlin. Besides, even Merlin didn’t notice them when they first spied on Arthur.
As an aside, for some reason, every time I look at Nic’s purple markings on his thighs, I see spandex hair-band-rocker pants instead of lizard skin… 😛
I wonder if anyone else, besides Merlin, is able to see the shades in the “real world”?
Our boy Dan has a bit of trouble coming his way.
That’s “milord,” short for “my lord.” But it would be funny to call him Milford.
I don’t get it… Is Arthur actually gone since the Sword was taken (ca 10 years) or did it just dissapear now? This would not make sense, but fits with what the wraiths said the previous page.
Anyway I still don’t get it why the presence of a new King should somehow “solve” Arthur’s problem of being trapped – these are independant magics, the aim of Marlin’s wizardry was to have interaction with Dreamland WITHOUT sword and for OTHER people.
Me be puzzled.
I have some suspicions regarding Nicodemus’ future actions regarding Dan, but I’m going to keep them to myself for now. If they’re true, then they’re so awesome as to be worthy of avoiding spoilers …
😉
Don’t forget to go vote at TWC, everyone! http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
After his earlier declaration of trying to close the entranceway that allows human children to come into Dreamland, I have serious doubts he’d accept any kind of human king. Arthur’s betrayal and the past acts of past kings on earth have left too many scars on Nick to ever peacefully allow a new human king to take over. If Arthur wasn’t so darn insistant on not only telling Nick but showing him that his will to bring other humans to Dreamland was progressing, I bet Arthur would have succeeded and it would have probably been the worst thing that ever happened to Dreamland. Nick won’t take any chances of other human kings coming in and attempting the same thing.
Hmmm… True, the sword has acknowledged Alex as King of Dreamland, yet Nicodemus is referring to Dan as the true King of dreamland, (I’m assuming due to birthright.) The solution to this predicament would be for Dan to rule dreamland in the real world using the message bag to send his rulings and judgments. Alex would therefore rule in dreamland as Dan’s representative. That way, level headed Dan would handle the decisions of state, and Alex would have the personage to carry out Dan’s policies.
I doubt however, that is what Nic has in mind. He is probably going to try to drive a wedge between the brothers…
Scott said he’s pretty busy right now. I think he’s doing us a great favor by ensuring we have a 3-day week as opposed to updating at random, or worse, not at all.
As for “more content per page,” I rather like his four panel format as opposed to other comics with random size panels. It’s nice to have a good shot of the background as opposed to a cramped panel primarily filled with the character who’s speaking.
Oh, noes! Watch your back, Danny boy!
It sounds as if the ghoul thing is saying milord, not my lord to Nick 😀
Tekserver, there’s a comment for you 2 or 3 pages back
i think we all can at one time or another. “Someone’s watching me” feeling or you catch something out the corner of your eye but when u look u see nothing but the shadows on the ground.
Remember: Scott is writing and drawing not for the web–that’s a freebie bonus–but for the published books. There, to get more content, you just have to look at the next page. It may be frustrating here, but he’s got to do the pacing for the finished product.
The British terminology is that the sovereign (Dan) reigns while the government (Alex and his people) rule.
ruh roh,
dan going to get seeing the darkside of dreamland.
kinda guess this was going to happen since nic couldnt get the sword from alex and now knowing that he has a brother thats the true king….
he probably going to drive dan into stealing the necklace and making sure his gf is not harmed in the process
just my guess
would the sword neclace work for Dan too?
from page 1124 – quote ” If at ANY point during the process Merlin or I should stop,
you would be TRAPPED forever between worlds. ” And apparently leaving a body behind
in each world, blocking access to anyone else including the rightful heir.
But if the heir has a twin, the twin can go to dreamland. But what happens when the
dreamland body turns up missing? Why is it suddenly missing after all these years?
Is the other body still around and does it also block the heir?
Dun dun dun…. stay tuned cause only Scott knows.
Technically, Alex is now the true king, since the title passed to him after he pulled the sword from the stone. Therefore Dan is no longer the first male child of the king, because the King is now Alex.
The only way Dan could become king is if Alex were to die without issue.
That still makes Dan the next possible king, so he would still be blocked from Dreamworld…
The plot thickens…
Indeed. Dan is in trouble…
So does that make Alex the first Twin of an Heir to find the sword.
So are these supposed to be the same wraiths that served Nicodemus 600+ years. Or is there some sort of secret society of wraiths that keeps training new members to serve Nicodemus. I would have thought that Nicodemus wouldn’t tell anyone new about Arthur.
soooo…..alex is no longing going to be king?
if arthur as passed on, where did he go, back to the real world or dreamland?
I saw it; you have a reply there now …
😉
By the way, in case anyone (Sophia included) is uncomfortable with my friendly conversations with Sophia, I would like to make the following statements/reassurances:
1. I am a 38 year old adult male, and I’m making no attempt to hide that fact.
2. Although I am having friendly conversations with a young girl via the internet, I DO NOT have any of the ulterior motives normally ascribed to such a situation.
3. With all due respect, I don’t want to know where Sophia lives, nor to meet in any way other than here in Scott’s comment section. By the same token, I have no intention of revealing to Sophia (or anyone else on the internet) where I live, who I am, or any other such information.
There are definitely some crazy, sick people on the internet, and I encourage you to protect yourself from them and be smart about what information you reveal to people (so far, so good from what I’ve seen); and I hope you can trust, by my words and actions, that I’m not one of them.
(Sorry to hijack the comment section, but I felt this had to be said. It was bugging me that people might get the wrong impression … we now return to you regularly scheduled wild conjecture, random humor, strange interpretations … )
Only problem is, the medallion is what allows adults to enter Dreamland. Dan can’t enter because Alex took the sword, becoming the New King. Dreamland can not have 2 kings, so as long as one is still in rule (or at least present), the other can’t enter. The only way that Dan could possible enter is if Alex gave the medallion to Dan. Too bad though, it would be very nice for both to reside into Dreamland so that Alex and Naj could live happily ever afters!
Merlin was trained in the arts of magic. Normally, when one does that, they are allowed to see things that mortals do not normally see. This existed for many different stories and one of the most recent story is The Spiderwick Chronicles. It wasn’t until the boy was exposed to the magic could he see the things that moved in the “shadows”. Afterward, he was full aware of it, and so were they.
First Twin was Dan, thus is why he could never enter Dreamland to begin with. Alex is the second-born twin and only became King because he pulled the sword out of the stone, releasing Aurthur’s reign as King.
Okay, that was hilarious.
i think he passed away when he was separated from the sword. and that alex is now king
YES!! Had anyone else found it, they would have been the King. Now, did there happen to be twins at some time before Arthur and the younger one ended up ruling…? Probably not. In some cultures, twins were not desired because it made it difficult to pass down the birthright.
I always like your comments/questions Kaden. More thought provoking than most. More questions: Can the wraiths actually die? What are their motives/ goals? I always had a soft spot for Nic as if he had been lost to the “dark side” as did Anakin Skywalker, but his dialogue leaves little room for doubt that he really is against having adult humans in Dreamland.
Nic has the appropriate goal in mind by keeping multiple adult humans out of Dreamland to preserve a level of peace, but he has simultaneously taken away the free agency of individuals to maintain a longer presence in Dreamland. It needs to be left up to the generations of rulers to make good or bad decisions.
Dan will forever be blocked out. Alex has rightfully taken his “place” as the King of Dreamland (or will when Nic is deposed), and it’s clearly been stated that only one adult human can dwell in Dreamland, until the passing of the current or the mantle is relinquished to another person.
So….. then maybe yes, it Alex declines the role of King at one point, he will then forfeit his privileges to enter Dreamland ever again.
But he’s worked so hard for this.
Hey all!
I’m back.
I should have Monday’s page up mid-day or so.
Was gone for 5 days on business in Los Angeles. (yes..movie stuff).
Thanks for your patience.
Scott
I’m thinking the twins loophole might possibly work there too, so long as Alex gave Dan the sword. We shall see, we shall see…
No!
After three days, I’m at the end!
NOOOO!!!
Nicole says she’ll look into it.
For purely scientific reasons of course.
lol XD welcome to where the rest of us are mwahehehehehehehe jooin us 😛
*clears throat*
Bwahahaha!
Not sufficiently evil… bah!
Welcome to the wait, my fellow Dreamer 😀
Believe me, it’s well worth it.
Nicodemus: “Let us learn more of his brother…the true king. Hire a private investigator…search up his credit report…AND BRING ME HIS FACEBOOK PAGE!”
Wraith: “He is on MySpace, Milord.”
Nicodemus: “Inconcievable!”
I thought dragons preferred catsup to cheese dip. Isn’t that how the old proverb goes?
Meddle not in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.
Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with catsup.
MageBook:
*Nicodemus used his Breath weapon. Would you like to stab him back or contact him via a sending spell? *
I wish he would just put more content in each page.
Out of all of the comics I read this one has the slowest pace, anywhere from 1 to 4 lines per page.
Bow chicka.
Meh. What happens on the Internet stays on the Internet.
