Page 1140…
Happy Monday, all!
I was able to get a buffer of 3 pages over the weekend. So no more waiting for the renders to finish like last week.
🙂
It’s also a new month. So feel free to click the link below and vote for us on Topwebcomics.
And also…another reminder. There’s still some Chapter One pages for sale.
I found a collection of unsold originals (that’s one of a kind prints with no dialog) while cleaning the other day.
So I put them up for sale at only $10 each!
That’s 80% off of the regular price of originals.
So if you’d like to pick up your favorite before they’re gone…go here to start browsing…

The rest is pretty self explanatory.
I’m going to put some Chapter Two pages up this week too.
Thanks and hope you enjoy this week.

Hm. Are the rock people backing out as pacifists, or do they maybe have a better plan?
I’m hoping for the better plan.
Not really sure what the Rock Giants are thinking here. “Eh, so the nightmare realm might be pulling strings to terrorize Dreamland, and possibly disrupt the human world as well. What’s the big deal?”
And my avatar is now Dan it would seem. Good to know.
Pacifism. Never works.
You’re right. It displays hatred and arrogant superiority towards anyone aggressive, including those who have a reason.
Ironically enough, pacifism is also a form of violence.
Augh!!! Hypnotic eyes staring into my soul!!!
So their ancestors went to the trouble of making an enchanted sword, distributing tablets over all races after fighting hunderd years of war. And then the rock giants simply want to forget that it all happened? Nono, I’d like to see some peace as well in dreamland, but that won’t only happen if the relations with the nightmare realm are restored. As long as the current ‘King’ Nic is allowing the nightmare creatures to raid dreamland, there will never be peace.
The plan is simple: Hero + Dragon = Epic Confrontation.
I’m sorry for the pacifistic rock giant, but they need to get their bums burned before the story is over.
I can see something to the Rock Giants’ pacifism. Their ancestral homelands are lost to history and they’re scattered to the wind – largely due to the repercussions on participating in conflicts. It may well be an issue of simply not wanting to make things worse since they see nothing to gain and that the Rock Giants’ population remnants are so far out on the outskirts of Dreamland that they think that they would be largely unaffected now.
I WANT MORE T_T
Rock Giant: “I say let the past be the past.”
Nastajia: “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”
The “pretend it never happened” is of course wrong but not terribly surprising given the Rock Giants’ general preferences.
The CENTAUR, now, I’d expect a little less surprise. “Why, YES, go to war with Astoria if necessary. You have a usurper and an accessory to REGICIDE on the frickin’ THRONE! Who made alliance with the Nightmare Realm and his allies apparently were going to assassinate someone on the WAKING side of the border as well! More, the current ruler has shown himself to be willing to kill just about anyone in order to keep his secret and there’s no telling what his allies are really up to!
“So, yeah, go to war. Let the whole story out, and give Nicodemus a chance for surrender and full pardon in exchange for full disclosure of everything he did AND his oath to make everything right, insofar as he can.”
Not that I like the idea of pardoning Nicodemus, but in a political and practical sense it would be the best choice. If he knows that he can “get out of jail free” — that he can avoid death or exile/imprisonment — his better half JUST MIGHT decide to do the right thing. (whether his “allies” would let him do that, we don’t know, but it’s the best tactic for long-term success)
Why does telling the truth make War a foregone conclusion? And Pacifism isn’t a “sit on your hands and do nothing in the face of tyranny and oppression” philosophy. Pacifism is the art of fighting without fighting. It’s about having the strength and wisdom to win a ‘war’ without fighting one. When Nastajia says they need a plan, I’m hoping she meant: a good one, not an easy one.

If the rock giants won’t lift a finger against the drawves destroying their home to build pirate ships for the Nightmare Realm, then it’s only natural they won’t fight for the sake of Dreamland. But perhaps like the Ents, they can be goaded into it, though I’m not sure I want to see what it would take. Considering everything Paddington has been through with the gang, we can easily count on him to join in.
The centuar, however, now he surprises me. The sword already said flat out that war was coming and neither Alex and Nastajia were prepared. Why teach him extra skills besides flying if not to prepare him for war? I know Aethos doesn’t take in any human children but Alex’s pressence certainly changes Nick’s attitude about Dreamland in general. Should Nick succeed, there’s little chance Dreamland would go back to “normal” under his rule. He might make life worse for the inhabitants.
I have to agree with everyone else, Orion’s surprise at the idea of war seems off. Wasn’t he preparing Alex for a confrontation with Nicodemus all this time? He’s only going to attack them soon, so they may as well prepare as best they can while there’s time.
i live in jerusalem. my family’s been here ten years, my sister is now in IDF basic training. pacifism is most definitely a form of violence – and it’s so tangible, you can see it, in the form of an organization called ZAKA and what they have to do to clean up after pacifists have had their way for too long. not pacifists in israel, but around the world, tying our hands from self defense. look up zaka if you have the stomach for it and you will despise pacifists with a passion. so don’t look it up because hate isn’t helping anyone either.
anyway, i agree, orion’s perspective here seems out of character, but…we have to see where he’s taking that thought. he may have more to say on this, and the rock giants, well, it’s one thing to avoid confrontation AT ALL COSTS if it’s only your own life and home on the line, but the world despises switzerland for its stance during world war two – nobody will ever say they did right staying neutral in the face of genocide. what would it take for the rock giants to go to war – i agree, i hope we don’t see it.
oh…AND the vote incentive is insane! i truly hadn’t imagined the sword like that. the details in the higher res images are so wonderful. it’s nice seeing it big!
Re: Orion…
He’s not against war. Just asking whom they’d attack.
Considering that Astoria is Dreamland’s capital…it’d be like everyone in the U.S. attacking Washington DC.
We still don’t know who the real enemy is. But we know Nicodemus needs to be outed.
But do we really go to war against our own country men?
Why not weve done it in the past. Civil War right? Every country goes through that.
Orion didn’t really say “omg no”, he’s just asking what seems like a reasonable question, I think. So I wouldn’t say it’s out of character.
Exactly, considering Nic just attacked part of his village, I doubt he’d be hesitant here. But it’s a reasonable question to wonder where this will lead and how that’s going to go.
Guys, we learned quite some time ago that the Rock people are docile and want to avoid violence. Of course they would want to back up in hearing about war, they’re afraid of it and don’t want to get hurt.
Not saying that’s a good thing, but they just don’t understand that some times to bring peace you have to bring violence upon violent people.
I don’t think that Orion is against fighting Nicodemus, he just wants to keep the majority of Dreamland safe from the conflict if possible. Civil wars are messy and something like that in Dreamland would be terrible. If they can find a way to avoid it they should at least try.
Remember Nicodemus isn’t a general that is powerless once his army is defeated. He is still a big dragon and eventually will have to be defeated individually. If they can accomplish that without first killing hundreds of Dreamlanders it would be much better than the alternative.
Orion is quite right, asking that question, I mean what does Natashia think that merry little band is going to do? Remember how the Dwarves acted before they learned that they had been tricked. Most of Dreamland thinks ol’ Nic is the rightful King. That makes our band of heros either nut jobs at best or traitors to the throne in the eyes of most of DreamLand if they talk about waging war and over thrown Nic.
Orion: “She can’t make that decision, she’s just a grunt!…oh wait she’s the princess”
Nastajia: “Kiwi, prep for dust-off”
Today’s panel was definitely a surprise. A little bit depressing, but it’s always darkest before the dawn. 🙂 I can’t wait to read more.
I see Orion as simply asking, “OK, so what’s the plan? Where do we go from here?” It’s part of the discussion. The Rock Giants are suggesting letting the current situation go on. I doubt that will be the final word.
Does anyone know how to block the project wonderful adds? On internet explorer?
everyone is focusing on what’s happening in the dreamworld.
but apparently Alexander is king.
Does that mean he’s going to run for President or something. All the previous rulers of Dreamland were very influential people.
Solomon, Caesar, King Arthur
?Alexander the Great?
I also thinking, if arthur hadn’t had all this happen, Ghengis Khan? Napoleon? Charlemagne, Queen Victoria, Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden (of the thirty years war), FDR
anyone that has had substantial control of the world.
I don’t think that’s possible in IE. (Of course, Firefox has some nice add-ons for that … )
And why would you want to block those ads anyway? That’s one of Scott’s primary means of getting paid for his hard work on this comic!
😉
It’s not necessarily waging war with Astoria, it’s waging war with Nic and the Nightmare Realm.
Can you honestly say that Switzerland did wrong by choosing not to kill more people to stop people from killing?
Switzerland and Sweden made logical foreign policy decisions by adhering to neutrality during WWII. They had no reason to enter the war in 1939 (treaties or the like). Entering from 1940 to 1944 against the Axis would have been suicide, and against the Allies morally problematic for democracies (Finland only joined the Axis due to pre-existing disagreements with the Soviets). Looking back 70 years, it is easy to ask, ‘why didn’t they do more’, but you need to keep in mind that the responsibility of the leadership of those countries was for the well-being of their citizens. Joining the Allies when surrounded by German-held lands may have benefited the Allies, but would bring much suffering to their people.
I need to stay stuff like this occasionally to justify my poli-sci minor.
