Page 1130…
Hi all!
Thank you for your patience while our site was hacked with malware on Wednesday.
It looks as if we were able to get rid of it. But to do that…we had to pretty much rebuild the site again.
So my apologies if some functionality is still missing.
Thanks to Phil Hofer for his help.
For anyone who ever wants to work with Comicpress….you should definitely introduce yourself to Phil.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Scott
What an intense page this is. Bravo on the lighting and dialogue.
Wow, and here Nick wasn’t looking so bad, now he’s back to being Mr. Supervillain.
What little sympathy I had for Nicodemus’ concerns has evaporated by now. The murder sealed his fate….
Wait… That wall was… And Nic is so big… And where were those shadows… Wouldn’t someone have noticed? Can Nic phase like a nightmare?
See? I’ve often said that Nicodemus had good goals, but chose poor means to get them.
AWESOME PAGE … glad you are back!
Why do I get the feeling that there’s an epic war coming up?
Some time may have elapsed.
WOW! I always said Nick knows how to make an entrance. 😀 I think this tops him pinning Little Felicity with his claw.
As much as I miss Alex and Nastajia and the gang, I hope this isn’t the last page of the flashback sequence. 🙂
I just can’t get over, how awesome these are and how good the comic looks on my new phone. Sorry if dbl post phone glitched.
Does that mean he is trapped in the cave now or can he come and go?
I’m so glad I found this comic (and finally caught up) It’s amazing ^.^ Very dramatic too. 😛
As the Centaur mentioned before, if they stopped the chant, Arthur would be trapped between the two worlds forever. Since they not only stopped, but one of them died, he’s stuck.
Awesome as always Scott! My attention remains riveted! 😀
About getting hacked… I’m rather dumbfounded as to WHY anyone would even want to do that HERE.
Usually people hack sites with malware if they don’t like the site, but this seems totally… random.
holy cow! i love the like way nic looks in the first two panels!
Back? I think we are seeing the genesis of his supervillainy.
I think someone mentioned that the wraiths might have done this on their own, and only just brought this to Nic’s attention as a fait accompli. I don’t think he started out wanting to be the villain, but he truly had the Dreamlanders’ best interests in mind. Of course, after this “betrayal” by Arthur, he probably now distrusts humans altogether, which may have lead to his reign of despotism, trying to eliminate all humans from Dreamland and bar them from ever returning (as well as destroying any indication that they were there in the first place, hence the search for the ancient tablets), which probably is what led to the treaty with the Nightmare Realm, which is probably how he’s able to seal away the dreams of children, as we have seen with young Alex and Nicole, who never dreamed again after meeting Nic. (At least, not unaided. Remember, Alex can’t dream without the sword around his neck.)
Don’t get me wrong, I still think he’s a grade-A jerk in the present, but now that we’ve seen his origins, we know he wasn’t always that way, it’s just the sting of betrayal, and the corruption of absolute power got to him.
Here’s something I always wondered: do you have to use two different models for Nic, one with the scar and one without? Or is the scar a feature on the model that you can turn on or off? Similarly, do you have to make new models when a character changes their outfit (such as Suit-of-Armor Alex vs. Jeans-and-T-Shirt Alex, or any of Dan’s witty T-shirts) or is the clothes separate enough from the model that you can just change them?
This is odd… the sword is STANDING there. I thought it contained knowledge accumulated over the course of Dreamland’s history, by all previous kings… so why doesn’t Arthur have it?
Look back a few pages. Arthur stuck it there just before they began the spell.
Not certain at all how Nick got there, but then again way back when this started, there’s the question “How did Nick arrive so quickly at the tomb when Alex first pulled out the sword?”.
Given that part of the story, there isn’t much of a problem with this part.
aww poor arthur and centaur 🙁
Wasn’t a ‘hack’ it was a malware, basically some ‘external’ script was injecting the malware into the site.
Maybe the scar is treated like clothing? I think it said somewhere in the “making of” section about about the costumes added later.
That was so….. COOL! Awesome page today, Scott.
There is a back entrance to the Tomb that Nicodemus could use to sneak in and hide up the stairs out of sight.

This is the part where Nic says: well, if THEY are playing dirty, then I’ll do so too. Fool Nic
Now that I think about it, I don’t think it helped Nicodemus much that the one human king to violate, or at least have clear motives and intentions to violate, what is probably a very ancient law in the world that contains Dreamland and the Nightmare Realm isn’t a tyrant or dictator like Julius Ceaser and others, but a human who thinks he is doing good for his people and his enemies on Earth. So it further corrupts his views on humanity and he’s convinced that humans will be the downfall of the world, as if Arthur did not tell make public his wishes nor show he is able and willing to pursue them (by discovering and showing the medicine bag), he probably would have been able to complete the ritual and might have succeeded in bringing in humans if the theory was sound.
Wow. A lot has happened since I went on vacation. *grabs a bag of popcorn and settles in for this week*
I haven’t liked Nic from the beginning. This flashback did little to change my opinion. He didn’t even try to explain things to Arthur. It seems to me as if he was just waiting for a chance.
Man, that sucks about the site getting hacked. Never a good time…
Ooh, nice page. Poor centaur.
As i predicted!
Nic came out from the shadows just as he did when Alex drew the Sword from the altar.
Now we wait to see what happens to Arthur’s body in both worlds and of course the fate of the magic bracelet.
I think He did. Only the author could tell us whether they spoke more about it than was shown here, but Nic told Arthur why it was a problem, hinted at a deal with Nightmare. So Arthur should at least have asked more question before making the amulet.
Still mostly siding with Nic here. Even if he should have interrupted the scene earlier – meaning I side with him ASSUMING he just came and was not hidden in the shadow since before the spell began.
the matte scales and muted colors certainly adds to Nic’s fearsome visage
Actually, I’m pretty sure Nicole said she went back looking for Felicity after their run-in with Big Nic, but after Felicity never returned she eventually gave up. So she did carry on coming to Dreamland even after meeting Nic.
