Page 1125…
Hi all!
So sorry for the delay in this page.
I’m afraid that after 4 years of consistency…I’m going to have to accept that my work schedule on the movies will not allow me to update “without fail” as I’ve done in the past.
Thank you all for your understanding.
I’ll do my best to keep you all updated. But I still believe 2-3 pages a week will be do-able if I can’t make the usual 5 days a week.
Also…
I’m redoing the lighting on these pages. I really never had a chance to work on that. So this last weekend I took some time to redo the lighting to match the original tomb scenes.
I’ll be updating the previous pages as I can until they all match today’s page.
🙂
Scott
I like Merlin’s font and the juxtoposition of scenes.
Don’t worry about it too badly. I was looking at another webcomic earlier today, and they’d just updated for the first time in 6 months.
Wonder what that writing is supposed to be that Merlin is chanting?
Awesome font! Don’t worry about updating 5 days a week, Scott.:)
I like the new lighting much better!
And the page layout is perfect to convey the magic going in two worlds – but why is the “magic” language different? I thought Merlin and the centaur had created the spell together…
Anyway, lot’s of success with the movie! We’ll be there whenever you update!
Interesting. I now see writing on the front of the tomb. There was no writing before. Was there supposed to be writing the whole time? If so, you may want to look at your previous pages and fix them.
Also, for the foreseeable future, I would have no issue at all if you shifted to a Monday-Wednesday-Friday update schedule. Many comics do that. Then you would not feel as if you are failing when you “only” get three out. 🙂
I think that the font for Merlin is cool as well, and don’t stress about us. When one thinks about it, it is AMAZING that you are able to make these pages and work on a movie at the same time! This lowly fan is happy with whatever schedule you decide.
OH! I forgot to add this, I think this will work without any trouble. The bad stuff will happen later (I think).
If they’d be babbling to me on TWO worlds at a time, I’d fall asleep as well…
PS: What font was used for Merlin”s chant? Can we transform it into readable content?
re font: it’s called Glagolitic and it’s a script devised for writing slavic languages (think of it as a strange cyrillic font, although glagolitic is in fact older than cyrillic).
nowadays it’s virtually unused, save for very ceremonial occasions. and croatia, of course.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glagolitic_alphabet
i’d expect Merlin to speak celtic, therefore have ogham bubble, but glagolitic is nice, too.
The half of the amulet in the real world in this page looks like a hovering dorito. :3
If the writing on the pedestal says something, and it is not giving away anything, there is a voting incentive for you to post.
Tyepe sye mas juyst a malksp domp…
Type sigh, mass juiced a malcusp dump…
Oh no! Merlin has fallen asleep and is mumbling a fiber product advert from the future!
Sadly, I missed a day… I voted just a little too late to make the cutoff 🙁

IIIIIIIIIIIIIII————————————————-
it’s far worse, i’m afraid.
our renowned author took _some_ liberties with Merlin, Arthur, cross-world incantations, devoted readership, you name it, it’s there.
so, transliterate the upside down myslite as ‘w’, the second (completely made-up) character in first and second words as ‘h’, the fita in the middle as a comma, the vaguely yer-like character on the end of second to last word and two words in the preceding line as ‘y’, the rest as cyrillic, and the result is:
there she was
just a walkin down
the street, singin
du wa diddy diddy
dum diddy do
no kiddin. Art’ is so… doomed
dude, today’s page with the two triangular panels, showing off the two scenes to full effect – genius!
How did Merlin know when to start the incantation? Or has he been droning away the whole time?
It’s okay about not being able to update consistently; it’ll all be worth it to see this as a movie 😀
…so how do you pronounce what Merlin’s saying? 😛
Could be worse…Merlin could be using Zapf Dingbats.
I’m amused that a moment of high drama – is watching Arthur fall asleep!
What style font is Merlin using for the incantation? Is it available online somewhere?
And the incantation is still unknown to the mere mortals of either world. Clever!
kventin posted it up higher
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glagolitic_alphabet
Or Comic Sans! That would make me stop reading these chronicles… (Just kidding, Sava. But don’t try!)
I wonder it too.
I agree on the updates for a slightly different reason. I think that is fine that you can’t make 5 updates a week, and that if you won’t be able to you should change your update schedule That way you won’t miss updates you will just be updating less often. Any extra pages can roll into your buffer so that you can get back to 5 a week sooner.
You do what you can; that’s all we should ask.
Oh man did I start giggling when I read that lmao that is great
LOL! You got me!
I thought it’d be at LEAST half a day until someone translated that.
🙂
I commend you.
Ha ha!
Hopefully they sync quicker than my iphone….
Probably goes without saying, Scott, but you can mark my vote in the column with the heading that reads: “Update when you can, and even with less than 5 days a week you’ll probably still update more often than the majority of other webcomics out there.”
(Okay, that’s a bit long for a column header, but you should get my meaning anyway … )
Speaking of voting, don’t forget to VOTE at TWC, everyone!

Thank you all for the encouragement.
My plan is to have the film set up so that you can all experience the production along with me.
From script to walking down the red carpet.
That’s several months away. But I wanted you all to know that I’m thinking of you.
🙂
ROFL
Oooh, it was so worth the time to fix the lighting! I can hardly bear to look at the others now, though – fix them right now! 😉 (Please note that was a joke Scott and take you time getting those redone – you are busy enough right now, but they will definitely benefit from the relighting)
Hey, you have a very valid reason for cutting back on your updates. Too often I’ve seen webcomics cut back simply because they lose steam on the project, but you are getting your name and work out there and a ton of revenue as well, that’s very important. Any movie you get in theatres, I’m there opening weekend for sure.
I’m with Technotreegrass, both me and my g/f will be there on opening day of any movie that you’ve helped create!
We’ve sat through and eagerly waited when you’ve had a bump in the buffer area before. We’ll gladly do it again!
Arthur might talk in his sleep.
When Alex is in the lab his brain waves look dead. Merlin could detect a variety of physical changes in Arthur’s body. If Merlin is familiar with Reiki he could just hold his palm over over the brow chakra. The change in consciousness would be distinct.
Don’t worry about the updates, Scott! You just have to take as long as you have to, to keep up with the same quality that you’ve always kept. We’ll always be around waiting for the next update to this wonderful comic. Keep up the good work!
Could we get that Merlin chant transliterated please? A translation would be ever more generous, but wouldn’t be appropriate. I imagine that we’re onlookers removed from the scene, so we should know what Merlin sounds like, even if we don’t understand it.

is willing to wait for pages, but will still be here everyday
Sounds awesome! Even more reason for us to not mind any past, present, or future delay. 😀
At first glance, it looked like centaur shaman was saying ‘Neener neener neener’ over and over. Not sure if it’s better that way or not.
Oh, and Beaver, there IS a translation of what Merlin is saying. Of course, it might not have much to do with what the chant actually means, but it IS a translation of what was typed up there. It’s on this page.
I thought you were joking until I started trying to transliterate it myself. Hilarious indeed! And it was very clever, turning the letter for ‘m’ upside down to stand in for ‘w’.
In a reply to Exxos up above, kventin has already done the translation for us. Go look. It’s quite amusing. 😀
is that Arabic?
If you cant update everyday im perfectly willing to wait a few day in between updates. As for the movie, the way you have drawn the king i still say he looks like Sean Connery and he would be perfect for both live action and voice over if you go strictly with cgi.
Clever, clever, font! XD
Looking forward to your inside scoop on the movie making process!
On an unrelated note, do you plan to do another raffle anytime soon?
Back on topic, did you know that the movie “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” STILL has not made any Net Profit? I sure hope your piece of the pie is not based on that!

I think I know the webcomic you’re talking about, I’m happy it’s updating too.
Merlin is probably in Latin, it’s always Latin
“I will still be here yesterday, just as I was here tomorrow … ”
😉
I wonder how all these “incantation” will sound in the movie.
Especially the Glagolitic one!
Maybe like this?

Long time reader, first time commentor. Keep up the great work! I’ve been hooked ever since I came across your site last year! I literally spent all day catching up! Great story, great graphics and such a pleasure to read. No worries about the every day posts. I’ll take what I can get!!
How can you make those symbols? And what is Glagolitic language??? I’m only a kid, so I don’t know that stuff…
i wonder… if you put someone to sleep in one world with a monotonous chant, and keep him asleep in the other world with yet another monotonous chant…. shouldn’t he drift off to a third world?
for a second i though the centaur said “uh-yah” . lol.
If it’s Latin, it’s not in the Latin letters. Hieroglyphs? I don’t even recognize the font…
OK, others have explained the font, and what it is saying–and it’s not Latin…
But, music is magic. Everyone knows that.
And a girl walking down the street has a certain magic too…
Read some of the earlier comments for the origin of the letters and what they say here.
Another step down in update rate? Outrageous!
Hehe, or maybe not.
But just a small request. If you do step down for a while I would appreciate if you would say to what rate, i.e. decide on 2 _or_ 3 comics per week, makes it easier for us readers and maybe also you as a writer.
Welcome fellow Dreamer!
Thanks for joining us in showing Scott your support. Don’t forget to mosey on over to TWC and vote! (Note: I only used the word “mosey” because of that … um, intriguing … Gravatar of yours … )
😉
Hey all!
Seems the update to the next page will show up Thursday night.
Just a heads up.
Now I have to go back through and see if anything else does that!
cheers!
well, i was curious, as i’m quite fond of glagolitic. and as i said i somehow expected ogham or maybe insular majuscule for a celtic feel (then again i suppose Merlin doesn’t have to be Celt).
for something a tad bit more difficult: http://ixoloxi.com/voynich/tools/evah1_1.zip
although it’s not really suitable for speech bubbles. parchment, perhaps?
And now….the cliffhanger
I figured out why his beard isn’t all white in Dreamland…. When he dreams he imagines himself younger. Not so young that he would appear inexperienced, but not admitting all the changes of age either.
OH, haha! Thanks!
The foreshortening on this page is crazy mad nuts. Arthur’s legs look like they stop at the knees…
real-world Arthur, that is.
It’s the Charm of Making!
Myrddin precedes the ascendency of Latin in Prydain.
He is probably chanting in Old Brythonic.
