Page 1032…
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Obviously the “monologuing” is over. As fun as it is…the time now is for action.
I hope you enjoy this week. It’s a good one.
Also…
I’m preparing Book 4 to go to IDW.
I thought I’d see if you all would like to take a quick run through of the pages and point out any typos, weird panels, plot holes, etc.
Anything you might find. I may not be able to get to them all…but I could always use another set of eyes.
Just head over to the Facebook Page and join in the discussion with any notes.
Thanks in advance. And see you all tomorrow.
Scott
Scott,
Remind us which Chapters you want us to review? I don’t recall which is the first for Book 4.
Oh, and do you want the typos, etc. e-mailed to you or posted in the discussions?
Seems (to me) like Nic was planning for her to destroy the amulet the whole time. Why would he be fidgeting with it so openly? It’s possible that he had no more use for it and wanted to deny its use to anyone else.
He was provoking them to get out in the open. He couldn’t expect that Nastajia would destroy it, destroy a keepsake from her parents. In short, he didn’t know that they had Orion with them. After all, every single one of them is gnat to him.
Postscript: Indeed which chapters are book 4?
Hay Nastaj! Nice shot! ^.^
After thought: And about the pupils… They look good the way they are on this page. 😀
holy cow! @_@ that was awesome. it was all like woosh and nick was like wth?! how did that happen. yeah ^_^ im hyper. *sigh* now i wish i could be apart of this adventure. lucky alex ;3
im liking how my pic changes from the nick anger pic to felicity’s eyes xD
see it changed back now – O
Forgive you? For protecting Dreamland’s past and future?
First time (I think) that I’ve felt like commenting…
I love the first two pannels – her face beautifully captures the regret at what she’s about to do in the first and then her acceptance of her decision in the second. Just perfect!
called it, made sense why she shot the amulet
Mmmm … I don’t get it. Now noone will be able to track down the other tablets … maybe it was not so important now that they know the truth about Nick …
Ah, but they have clues… and someone in each of the races with a tablet must know where is the damn thing…
Nastajia: “Forgive me father, for I have not yet sinned. It has been six months since my last demolition…”
Noooo, she was suppose to go for the eye. :'( You -always- go for the eye. Ahh well. Understandable why she went for the amulet instead tho.
and now they go on a merry amulet shard hunt… *gets shot*
Heeeey, I think I called that one on Friday. Neato. I’m never right about those kinds of things.
I love the look on Nick’s face, myself.
About Nastajia’s bow,did the author happen to recall an animated series in the 1980s called Dungeons & Dragons? Which one had that energy bow?
Ha! I was right. Nice shot, Nastajia. And Scott, I love the lighting and Nastajia’s whole facial expression in the second panel. No pout, no sadness, no anger–just calm cool determination, eyes on the target.
Silverwolf, nice line! =)
It’s all in the Facebook Discussions.
Everything you need to know.
Recall that show? It was my inspiration!
🙂
Loved it.
She doesnt need forgiveness …. she ought to get a MEDAL for shooting that evil #@$% dragon!!
just saying …
Uh-oh Nicodemus is gonna be maaad!
Yesh!! That was my first thought as well. Dungeons & Dragons the animated series was one of my all time favorite Saturday morning cartoons! 😀
I too was thinking Nastajia was going to shoot the amulet. Seemed like the best answer.
I don’t know about his deliberately provoking them but now that the shot is off, I certainly wouldn’t hang out in a gaggle. Freakin’ RUN!
OH NO SHE DIDN’T!!! xD go Staj
That was…. unexpected.
Good morning everyone! Beautiful page today, Scott. I love the subtle effect of the glowing arrow on the play of light and shadow on Nastajia’s face.
Don’t forget to VOTE, everyone! http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
nice choice on the pupil dilation. Looks good as is. Nice shot too!
How was she holding the bowstring?
Ooh! Xanatos Gambit FTW.
Those arrows remind me of Pit in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Orion knew where the centuar’s tablet was, maybe the rock giants and Guardians know where theirs are. Well I’m confident the Guardians would know where theirs are.
Nicky looks pissed in the fourth panel. *evil grin*
Now comes the typical Scooby-Doo chase scene.
Cool! Took me by surprise! I was trying to figure out how she would keep him from getting it if she just shot it out of his hand. The main point is for him to not have it at all! Great strategy, Scott!
ZOINKS!
Is it just for me, or she’s holding the arrow’s edge and the bow’s string a whole wrong way? Well, not entirely wrong, it’s almost perpendicular to the good one. I know, nitpicking…
And destroying the amulet is indeed a wise solution. Nice update!
I loved that show! It’s what formed my love for the genre “Fantasy”. Man, I was so little back then. I think I was -1 or something.
I am Nicodemus. You destroyed my shiny amulet. Prepare to die.
My first reaction?
“Nastajia watch out for that pointy ear! You don’t want to catch it with the string!!!!’
Ha!!!
Agree with the previous comment, her eyes look great!!
I prefer “Benny Hill” myself. No way to beat the accompanying music!
LOVE nastajia’s eyes
I thought that this might happen (didn’t post a comment about it so I have no proof) and… wow, even though it’s must be a painful decision for Nastajia, it will take care of a lot of problems later on. I LOVE her expression in the first panel!
Aye, that’s what I was thinking.
So maybe I missed something, but is there some reason why Nastajia couldn’t have just shot Nicodemus instead of the amulet?
You didn’t miss anything.
My thoughts were this…
1) Can her shots penetrate his skin?
2) What good would it have done? Just a flesh wound?
3) Orion said a few pages back that Nicodemus musn’t remain in possession of the amulet. This seemed the most logical way of making sure that happens.
I’m sure hindsight will point out a better way…but this is the best solution I felt they had at the time.
“Forgive me, father…. I shouldn’t enjoy this as much as I do!”
That’s what it looks like, and it’s funny that way! XD Great page!
The tablets, at least as I recall from what I’ve seen thus far, are important because they teach the Dreamlanders the truth about their land’s history- a history that Nicodemus has been in the process of remaking through forgery and deception. The true history of Dreamland was placed on to these tablets and spread throughout the races (and hidden) so that Nicodemus wouldn’t be able to find them and destroy them; and so that the races would know their true roots and who should be the true king of Dreamland (i.e.- NOT Nicodemus).
Everyone else: I am correct in my understanding of this, yes?
Somehow, of all the cartoons I didn’t miss, that was one I did.
I was kind of thinking the same page some 400 pages back, but I hadn’t said anything on that regard up to this point. Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so (which, btw, is a compliment, personal opinion).
And that was my response on Friday to whatever would happen today. Let the music (and chase) begin!!
Especially since we watched Nicodemus shattter one of Nastajia’s arrows some time ago, it would be a fair assumption that a direct shot would amount to little more than a scratch.
Destroying the amulet is a strategic move because, aside from the Centaurs’ tablet, Nicodemus has only destroyed tablets whose contents have already been revealed. If they able to get help from the rock people, guardians, chances are they would be able o find the other two/three before less-than-jolly old Nic
*squee* Oh, much happiness! That was quite excellent and I must concur with everyone else’s statements on the well-done-ness of the eyes.
I wish I could shoot like that with my eyes shut.
Panel 2 = all time favorite dreamland chronicles panel of all time.
ohhh! not the perfect solution, but a solution nonetheless
But she doesn’t have six fingers on her right hand ;P
Okay, cool. Love the second panel! Really nice.
The last time this was mentioned, I couldn’t get the song out of my head for the remainder of the chapter!
I have to say that for me, Nastajia in panel 2 looks almost…smug, I think is the word? Judging by how many other people adore it though, it looking odd is probably just a bit of weirdness on my part. Her eyes are fantastic – personally I didn’t mind the glowing effect they had going on in previous panels, but now they look like real-world eyes in color and reflection and…
Okay, so eyes have been an awesomely strong suit for you over the past couple of pages, Scott (I’ve been adoring Nic’s, personally.)
If she could hit the amulet she could hit the eye. Could she blind him in one eye? Could she reach his brain? Can dragons regrow eyes that have been shot out?
If she has time for a second shot we might find out….
oo exciting! Thanks for making the archive more accessible and able to click on indivdual pages not just chapters.
SPOILER! 🙁 I know I’m slow … but still …. : ‘ (
I’m desperately attempting to catch up on the Chronicles after almost 3 years of not reading it. In doing so, I have come to remember how much “Nastajia” sounds like “nostalgia” in my head.
