I’m going to take Thanskgiving and Friday off if that’s OK with you guys.
We have family visiting…and I don’t want to rush tomorrow’s page out to you.

For once, I have to agree with Alex. Nicole was pretty psychotic about details right then.
She scares me sometimes.
It seems to me that Nicole is incapable of not being entrenched in her opinion of something. She also seems like the type of woman that wants everything to happen just like she wants them too…
I’m feeling extremely sorry for Alex right now. Is that woman always extreme?

If Nicole was a guy, and Alex a girl, and the guy grabbed the girl like that, and demanded her way, and followed up with more demands before slamming door, would that be abusive?

I think you guys are missing the point.
Recall the Robert A Heinlein quote “Little girls, like butterflies, need no excuse”
Nicole is just getting in touch with the little girl inside her again.
If you’re a guy in a relationship with a girl, and she doesn’t go just a bit bonkers on you every once in a while, she’s not being emotionally honest around you. . . . . at least that’s what my wife tells me. . . .
Scott- you’ve earned it! Don’t spend your time on us at the expense of your family! Keep the priorities straight, my friend (which it sounds like you’re doing). I think that we would rather see quality over rushed, and I don’t know anyone here- from what I’ve seen, at least- who is so selfish that they would actually criticize you for not putting your family first.
OK. Think of it this way. Nicole has stated how much this contact with Felicity means to her. This has the potential to restore a part of Nicole’s personality that she feels has been lost. Maybe it’s the part of her that can spontaneously feel joy. This may rank above her relationship with Dan, even above her career.
Do you understand now how much this means to her now?
And with the direct communication link to Felicity being severed, now she’s completely dependent upon the most undependable, lazy, uninspiring males she has ever met (in her opinion). Will she want to motivate him as forcefully as possible, since he has shown no evidence of self-motivation to date?
Darn tootin’.
I think this was quite in character for Nicole here, especially after Alex’s glib insensitivity to her admission of her own vulnerability.

No! Of Course you cannot take a national holiday off to spend time with your family and friends! I don’t care if I will be reading your comic while I am laughing at my grandfather’s jokes, you better not fail me!!

Exactly what I was thinking. Reconnecting makes Nicole feel vulnerable. It is something she tried to prevent in the past, at least, she seems to be that sort of person.
This IS important to her, and Alex should be a bit more considerate towards her. His arrogant smirk on the preceeding page would drive anyone -that is passionate about something- nuts.
Scott: Enjoy your family. Having lost both parents in a short span of time, I know how important family is!

Be interesting to see what Alex thinks the definition of “detail” is. I can so see her stalkerish at his house waiting with his brother for Alex at his place and then grilling him for details of Felicity.

Hint for a juicy turkey… cook it breast down. The juices sink into the breast making it very delicious! If you still like the browned top of the turkey turn it toward the end of the cooking for 15-20 minutes. It’s simple, but everyone that’s had dried out bland turkey breast will love you and may even ask you what your secret is. 😉

I’ve noticed that Nicole also never does things half-way… she’s always passionate whether it’s her belief in only science or her 180 degree turn & total belief in Dreamland.

Oh, it’s completely in character for Nicole, for all the reasons you’ve stated. She’s still psycho. But, that’s what makes her a realistic character – that little bit of a flaw. The characterization in this story is phenomenal. Keep up the good work 🙂

Besides, it’s different when the one grabbing is stronger and using force to get his or her way. It’s not always true, but in most cases the woman is being abused, and cannot resist effectively except by running; the man can resist more effectively.

I agree with Alex hear as well, saying I want the details doesn’t help Nicole either. While I agree with what JakesDad said, she still seems to have lost some of her mind, which is a good thing in my opinion :D.

Yeah actually when I was in high school there was a case in my home town where a guy called 911 on his wife a few times because she was abusing by striking him with objects etc.. It wasn’t until the 3rd time the police looked at his bruised body before they realized she was lying about him being the abuser when they had shown up the previous times. Think about it.. if you love someone you going to keep hoping they change.. even if you are physically stronger you may take abuse because of this hope. Sad but true and I think David has an excellent point. Nicole has always come across this way.. I kind of have been hoping that dream land was going to break into the shell around her heart and be more interested in the people around her vs. trying to fix them.
Well, this is all very inconsiderate for your non-north-american fans – not only do we not have a day off for Thangsgiving, but on top of it we will have to go through an entire workday knowing that you are off and without the moral support of a Dreamland page.
This will be a sorry day indeed :'(

Another good secret- if you can get your hands on it (some parts of the country can’t) is to use Vernors as your baste and take the turkey out from time to time and make sure and pour some of the Vernors on it (Vernors is a type of ginger ale, but it’s way better than Canada Dry). Coca-Cola works well for this, too, but I like the flavor the Vernors puts in it, better.

What keeps someone from materializing inside another thing in dreamland? It seems that someone materializes in dreamland in the general area they left dreamland in. This is okay for someone visiting every night, but what if someone was like Alex, say Nicole, was to visit dreamland again a decade or more later, and where they left from is now in the heart of a massive 20 meter thick wall around nicodemus’ castle or something?
Maybe that’s how people die in their sleep… They revisit dreamland and their dreambody dies in a materialization mishap… o.O
And further, if there was some sort of maximum distance from where you last were that you can materialize within, could Nicodemus, if he had known, backfilled the hall chamber and built up that cliffside to be in excess of that distance – thus killing or keeping the swordbearer from returning to dreamland?

Hello people, it’s Thanksgiving Day! I’m enjoying my extra day off, and I am planning to make something fun that’ll probably involve a car trip and seeing something new in Norristown I haven’t seen yet.

Anybody notice how defensive Daniel got? The boy is smitten, I tell you. Alex just truned the tables on Nicole, when at first *she* was the one to ridicule such behavior.

So, I just thought I’d let ya’ll know that I’m typing this in with a USB keyboard plugged into my Wii. DLC is officially in my Wii favorites pages (along with the voting link).
I would also like to point out that only 32 votes have been made since I voted at 11:30 yesterday morning (11/28/09). Scott’s comic has gone from 2nd to 7th place on Topwebcomics since he’s hit page 1,000. I find it rather sad that we (and I include myself here as I was not very faithful in voting until about a month ago) can’t vote without Scott giving us an incentive to do so. Surely we are better than the children this comic is intended for in thinking about others outside of the holidayseason?

Also – I feel silly to say this right after well-wishing, but in the last panel – is that supposed to be an alarm clock on the left side of the nightstand? It’s got a pretty cool image going, but not telling time – Maybe it’s a techno lava lamp?
Man! I just saw the fireworks for the first time today. And i just had to say; Please don’t ever take them down! They look great! The balloons look nice, but the fireworks are epic!
That is an alarm clock. It has an analog display!
As near as I can tell, the time displayed in it is a few minutes after 3:00, though of course I can’t tell whether that’s AM or PM. Given that the lamp is on and there’s no visible light coming from what little we can see of the window, we might assume that it’s 3 AM. But that wouldn’t be a safe assumption, because if memory serves we had a couple of beautiful shots of that window a while back with morning sunshine blazing through it – which means it’s a roughly east-facing window, and wouldn’t get much direct sunlight at 3 PM.
Either way, it’s a bit of an odd time for him to be bedding down …

Don’t sweat it. It helps when you’re looking at the comic on a 37″ Vizio HDTV, and optionally magnify the image beyond that with one of those extra mouse buttons no one ever uses …
