Hi all!
My buddy Scott Hyman and his team have been preparing for this day for about a year now.
Please check out the link below to get to it.
Since I’m writing this a few days in advance (had to go to LA for more Animal Crackers meetings), the link above should take you to a page that SHOULD have a link to the Kickstarter.
I’ll post a direct link when I get back to Nashville.
Thanks
Scott
Woo! Great to see!
i think i’d rather cancel my suscription.
your rss feed updates don’t get killed by spam blockers and your comic isn’t going anywhere, apparently.
well, it was fun for a while. live long and prosper.
You couldn’t be further from the truth.
Wherever you go, I hope your free entertainment moves at a pace that you prefer.
Your comments wont be missed here.
Farewell, and happy journeys!
I’m looking forward to seeing what they do, I’m not sure if it is active just yet… can’t find the direct link [at this moment]
Hey everyone,
I’m sure when he gets out of his big-time Hollywood meetings and hobnobbing with movie stars, Scott will fix the web address above to http://www.dreamlandcardgame.com. 😉
Until then, please go to http://www.dreamlandcardgame.com to access the Kickstarter, and let me know what you’d like to see in a Dreamland video game.
Thanks,
Scott (the other one)
AW YEAH! Nick, your scaly rump is MINE! I will find your missing scale and shove the Black Arrow deep into your even blacker heart and finally put an end to you!
As I cannot find the Kickstarter link (as of yet), will this be available for PC users? I don’t have a tablet, ipad or otherwise.
Have you tried going to http://dreamlandcardgame.com ? No “wordpress”, that was Mr. Sava’s mistake. It goes right to the Kickstarter.
Sorry, though… no plans for PC just now. We’re building this to be a tablet based expeerience. The mobile version won’t start development until the tablet one is launched.
Here is the Kickstarter URL, for those looking for it:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1393317297/the-dreamland-chronicles-digital-trading-card-game?ref=kickspy
Er, my bad. Use Scott’s link, I didn’t see it. Plus, mine has a random ref from google : P.
So. If you do make the stretch goal of making an Android version, will it be for tablets only or will it work for phones as well?
Tablets first. The issue is that both the game and the card collecting experience require a good amount of screen size, and we will have to redesign the user interface for the smaller smartphone screens.
Android, however, has more varied devices than iOS, so we will determine a cutoff size and it may be available early for the larger Android phones, like the Note.
Is there going to be another comic update? If so, when?
Not for a few more months.
…and you didn’t feel this magnitude of hiatus was worth an announcement of any kind? Inconsiderate.
but… but… we haven’t gotten any new comic pages since the last kickstarter. >..<
Before I contribute, I want to see what we already contributed money for. and I haven’t.
Are you reading the blog entries below the page? I’m pretty sure it has been announced ages ago. Cba to point you at the specific post, but feel free to browse it by yourself. 🙂
@momomelon
I believe last we heard Scott was waiting on proofs from the printer for the last KS book… patience, friend. 🙂 I’ve been part of all the KS campaigns and he does indeed deliver… while Scott Hyman’s project isn’t really MY thing I think it’s pretty awesome, especially for parents wanting to introduce what looks to be a fun light-competition game to their kids in a safe manner.
I DO share your frustration over no new things… but he made it VERY clear that there was going to be a significant wait between the end of this past chapter and new pages due to the current stuff with Hollywood production.
Really? This page has been going strong for years and you start having doubts after only a few months? I can’t imagine he can pull anymore time out of his day than he already has. Just watched the proof of concept this morning for the movie. My wife, son and I can’t wait to go see it in theaters. 😀
This is a separate project unrelated to creating the web comic. If you’re interested in a digital/tablet playable card game using this world/universe, please consider checking out DreamlandCardGame.com and supporting Scott’s partner Protobird Games 🙂
They might as well change the name of this strip to The Kickstarter Chronicles…
Yeah, ’cause it’d be so much better if books and various products related to the comic were never produced. I mean things like this should stay only as free comics, each day just to satisfy the demands from rabid…er I mean faithful readers. What are the comic creators thinking daring to venture forth with new products and property that can increase the brand awareness of the characters and increase profit potential on something they have mostly given freely to the world?!
(sarcasm in case you couldn’t tell)
You mean like the major post on Jan 23 then the smaller update posts made on Feb 3, Feb 10, Feb 24, March 3, there was a big reveal on March 10, then more details on March 24 and April 1? I think I got all those dates right. Even before all that there were hints at some big other project he was working. Scott’s been great about writing updates to let readers know what’s going on. Have you just been missing them all this time? Or maybe you didn’t understand them?
You mean the book seven kickstarter? The update from March 12th indicated the proof was finally approved and the print order could go to the printer. I’d rather Scott make sure the book is good before giving the go ahead to print. It’s better the project be delayed than a shoddy print be put together. After the final printing order I don’t really know how long it takes to actually print and bind however many books, plus they have to be shipped, Scott’s gonna be signing like a madman for a few days, then packages can begin be sent out. It’ll take time. No reason to be so skeptical already.
Scott’s delivered well on every previous KS, I’ve backed each one and never been disappointed.
Besides the DL card game ks is being run by someone not Scott. At least not this Scott. It’s a separate company publishing this game. It’s not fair to hold out on them if you are interested the game because your book isn’t in your hands yet.
Plus he told us what the expected time table is on the book in update 19. Books by May or June.
I don’t have a smart phone and this sort of game probably wouldn’t be of interest to me anyway. I do wish you luck in getting it funded and made. I’ll keep an eye (haha, that’s funny because of my icon) on the progress, if it seems like you need a push near the end I might be able to chip in a couple bucks.
Wow… what’s with all the haters all of a sudden?
I have been reading from pretty much day one and have no complaints about waiting for a little while for the next update… but I guess that’s just me acting like a reasonable human being… go figure!
and as for the moaning about kickstarters, Scott has to fund his projects somehow as well as earn a living.
you’re right, I posted impulsively through my impatience for more updates. its not that I don’t trust it come, I just want them. >.< I get so exited when there is another next page, and so sad when its just another update of some sort, and most time I rationalize that the webcomic is something I should be thankful for and wait patiently- but I guess this time I acted before I rationalized.
I thought it was going to be like Yu-Gi-Oh! with those cards,or should there?!?
Captain Radar,
I’m not sure that I understand your question.
-Scott
Blame it mistyping,I meant to say:”I thought it was going to be like Yu-Gi-Oh! with those cards,or not?!?”
Thanks so much for your interest, Radar. In many ways, it is. We’ve focused a great deal on the collecting aspect of the experience, much like Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh. We feel that there should be a lot more card collecting in a CCG, and most everything out there is more a card layer on top of a different kind of game. You can see a bit about that here. http://youtu.be/x86ehSmZpF0
The game play is a bit of a cross between Magic: the Gathering and the game on the Yu-Gi-Oh television show. I hope to have a video detailing more of that tomorrow.
Feel free to ask any more questions you have here or email me directly.
So what’s with the Latin text on Alexander’s card? I assume it’s just filler text, but I’d still be interested to know what it’s supposed to mean. Google Translate says that it means “and system design, it is pain, to post a comment”. Oddly enough, the translation kept changing as I typed it in. Drop the last two words and you get “the pain and the Internet loves or pursues”. On the other hand, the first half (up to the comma) gets translated as “China police” without the comma, but changes to “China is currently” when you add the comma. Weirdest of all, when I type the words in separately, they get translated as:
Internet
it
Department
is
products
Minneapolis
Colorado
China
I have no idea what it means. It’s filler text and has since been replaced with specific information.
But, please, feel free to investigate. 🙂

Will the CCG have some type of achievement system? If it does what types of rewards could be expected.
Hi Amber,
Thanks for asking such a great question. Yes, we plan to have an achievement system and badges, too. But this hasn’t been worked out in enough detail to give a definite answer. We expect that once we begin testing, many planned achievements will change.
The next question is for you- What kind of achievements would you like to see? What should we avoid?
We’re still early enough in development to add what Dreamland fans want to see.
Titles are always good, maybe special types of cards that can only be unlocked by achievements. If youre going to have a hitpoint system then you could have where if you have certain badges then you get extra hitpoints or have extra damage or defense as a passive ability. Or so many badges unlocks special abilities during a match.
Good day! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another
platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of
a good platform.
I am sure this piece of writing has touched all the internet visitors, its really really nice post on building
up new website.
When some one searches for his vital thing, so he/she desires to
be available that in detail, therefore that thing is maintained over here.

Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I
guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say,
I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring
blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any suggestions for rookie blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.
