Mighty looking wings. 🙂
Holy second push goal Batman!! 🙂 I hope we make it! I really wanted to hit the Nicodemus plushie goal, but this will suffice. 😛
I never really noticed how long Felicity’s fingers were until now… O_O
Since when did everyone’s hands get so freakishly HUGE?
I think it’s a trick of perspective in the last panel: Alex’s and Felicity’s arms are extended out a bit.
So that’s what Alex’s Dragoon form looks like 😉
Alex got wings. I have a bad feeling about it.

Why do I have a feeling Felicity will do something to really piss off Nastajia when she says goodbye?
I am probably one of the few people who would immediately get that reference. So playing LOD tomorrow (day off)
I don’t quite understand the need for wings. I mean…I do know that Alex couldn’t have flown to this level from the ground, but now that he’s at this height, shouldn’t he be able to fly from here without wings?
The last panel here feels weird to me. Alex looks REALLY stiff like a default pose and seems to be reading Kiwi’s bubble, not looking at her .. maybe it’s just me and I’m dumb or something (which is a legit possibility). Felicity also seems to have that same stiff, default pose that Alex has …
Meh, it’s probably me. *goes to corner and flogs himself*
In Dreamland maybe there are limitations as to where humans can use their powers.
That’s a very good question. I puzzled over it for a bit, and came up with a plausible justification. Perhaps the magic of Dreamland – particularly that bit that enables flight – fades the farther you get from Dreamland, especially vertically. Thus, at the great height of Seraphopolis, there is not enough Dreamland magic to support Alex. (I specified “Dreamland magic” because it’s already been established that the Seraphopolitans use magic of their own; I am positing that their magic is subtly different than the native Dreamland magic and will not support unaided flight.)
Alex could still fall from this height – going down is always easier than going up – and, if he kept his wits about him, could do so with style, resuming wingless flight once he got closer to the ground. But to actually fly at this height, ya gotta have the wings.
Not canon, of course, unless Scott confirms this, but it seems like a nice, tasteful filling for that potential plot hole.
“My love has wings
Slender feathered things,
with grace in upswept curve
and tapered tip…”
And that’s a quote some may remember.
There is also the possibility that they will be in the Nightmare Realm long enough that Alex may need to wake up at some point, and Nastajia will still need to be able to fly.
Also, if they both have wings, it will be still obvious that they came from Seraphopolis, but will be less obvious that he is who he is – Alex Carter, King of Dreamland, the only adult human able to be there and able to fly… So any attacking force may end up underestimating them, which would give them one more chance to gain the upper hand, which they may not have had, had the enemy suspected they faced a powerful foe.
There is a slight chance that with this strong a sunlight, we are unable to properly distinguish where the hand ends and where the fingers begin, giving the impression that the fingers are longer than they actually are.
What Kiwi said made me realize that Alex and Nastajia might NOT be coming back?!?! 🙁
What will become of Felicity?
Well, considering he is the only adult human, thus the king, is kinda a giveaway. That and the shadow spies have been watching them all along, plus still wearing the same armour he always has. Not like he’s gonna fool anyone about his identity.
i know me too. poor kiwi.
I thought the early chapters said something about children not being able to fly in the nightmare realm?
Thanks, everyone! All good explanations. 🙂
Every time I see the wings I am reminded of a PS1 game I never got a chance to finish due to a break in.
I get the feeling that these people aren’t exactly who they say they are. Could they be working with the nightmare realm, trying to send these heroes to their deaths?
