I personally think she’s scared that she’ll prove Dan’s theory. That would get her through school, but may destroy the common conventions in her known method of science. It would scare the crap out of me to realize that everything I understand and take as fact needs to be double-checked.
What she neglected to realize was that open minds are what science is all about, people who are arguing for science against religious fanatics scold them of having closed minds, so now who’s the scientist? Dan or nicole?
“But I never thought that it’d be so simple but
I found a way, I found a way.
And I always thought that it’d be too simple but
I found a way, I found a way.
If you open up your mind
(see what’s inside)
It’s gonna take some time to realize…
But if you look inside I’m sure you’ll find…”
Fits so very well with the argument they just had.
I swear… no character in this comic has anything even close to common sense.
I only hope Scott is reading my suggestions along the way and implements at least one of them. AT LEAST ONE.
A little pragmatism can go a long way.
While her approach isn’t optimal, science is about consistency.
Facts become established not because they’re 100% known to be true, but because they’re consistent with everything else around them. Such things can be wrong… BUT whatever would seek to claim them wrong has got to be MORE consistent with the span of human knowledge regarding reality in order to replace them.
she’s thinking “they’re mad, both of them”
I hope not. She’s being a terrible scientist — they’re supposed to have an open (if rational) mind.
Shes retarded
I think she’s thinking ‘he’s full of crap, but he makes a persuasive argument’.
I’m with Toraush Naull on this.
Dan is SO right.
She’s thinking, “all of a sudden, I really have to go to the bathroom.”
*Stunned*
Huzzah for character development for Nicole!
Time for some more smoochies?
To me it’s more like “omg! He scolded me, I’m gonna cry”
Then again, I suck at reading people’s expressions.
oh boy … that ws a pre- recorded class lesson for nicole… n the last thing she wud’ve wanted at this time of the day……
Scientific romance novels. They’d so be like this. “Damit Jim! I’m, strangely attracted to you!”
… Alex. For crap sake… WEAR A CAMERA TO BED.
Pics or didn’t happen.
Daniel totally looks like Harry Potter
i used to have an open mind once….but my brain kept falling out so…..
when daniel’s hair stick up it looks like horns. p.s lol to tom!
Dan’s an idiot.
She wants Dan bad know.
Dan sweet talked her. I guess it takes a nerd to know a nerd.
*applauds*

she looks like she just got slammed by many pounds of bricks
Does anyone else hear the “smoochie” music from The Sims on the last frame? She just needs some anime hearts floating around her head…
Love her expression on the last panel! :3
Nicole: “Alex! get out of the dorm! Dan! On the bed! NOW!”
“Daniel totally looks like Harry Potter” Well, he /is/ a Daniel. Just imagine his last name is Radcliffe.
ii think shes all OMG he puersuaded me.
You have convinced me, therefore, you cannot exist. Props to whoever got that.
Or how about this: ‘Open mind? Does not compute.’
omg i was just thinking xD lol
Quick edit. Doop doop.

Heard those dreaded words “Open Mind” in a sentence and her brain exploded 🙂
What she neglected to realize was that open minds are what science is all about, people who are arguing for science against religious fanatics scold them of having closed minds, so now who’s the scientist? Dan or nicole?
Last panel: Song starts:

“Nobody move! I’ve dropped me brain!”
sorry, I couldn’t help myself 😛
Her concern may be that if Dan and Alex are proved correct, that means more years of med school for her.
