You gotta be kidding me Scott! Those are mundane, everyday facts of life in Dreamland. But how often does one get to see a glowy round circle of sky hidden deep in an underwater cave? That’s impressive!
My thinking here is the camera is further back then Alex & Nastajia and therefore we do not see what they see, our world, a way for them to be together when Alex is awake, a way for Dan (and Nichole for that matter) to experience Dreamland.
all the other things are great, but as Lunaroki pointed out, those things are common place in Dreamland… the connection between worlds is not and it is an amazing thing!!
Dr. Egon Spengler: There’s something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don’t cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I’m fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, “bad”?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That’s bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
that glowy thing is a window to man’s world and now a human is looking through it from the other side – how magnificent is that!!! what a wonderful, crazy idea scott! this is original fantasy writing! unreal. within the dreamland story, if they could resolve the issue, for nivenne and merlin, then it would also be resolved for alex/nastajia, felicty/nicole and so on…but, though surely merlin must still be alive for his magic to work, if HE couldn’t work out that trick, i suppose nobody can. i wonder how you will resolve alexander and nastajia – or dan’s curse. but for now…wow! sincerely, this whole subplot has been the best part of the entire tale to date. i hope they get a clue to nastajia’s parents’ whereabouts!
Anybody else think there should be *some* form of punctuation for Nastajia’s line at the bottom of the page? My preference would be an ellipses, but at least a period. It just seems awkward to me, at the moment.
I had visions of Dan filling the sink to shave, lathering up, and just as he is about to put Bic shaver to skin we hear Alex yell from the sink HEY, DAN!!!!!!!!”
That does make more sense. Even when Niviene did not know any magic the pool would still work for her, so it would not be unexpected to see a hazy image of the glade that contains Merlin’s tree. And it certainly would be more impressive.
…of course that could mean another multi-hourvrender.
Niviene grins, “It’s been a great place to hide the bodies of all my victim’s over the years! Nobody would think to look in another world!”
Nastajia and Alex freak out.
Niviene tries to keep a straight face and fails, falling into a bout of hysterical laughter, “The look on your faces!” She gasps, “Oh that was too funny! I can’t breathe!”
Valid point, but I would like to say that a lot of that time was probably experimentation, as I doubt merlin had a, “Pass through a magical pool into an alternate dimension” spell handy. at least when he was that young.
Huh! So what would happen to Alex if he tried to climb out of there?
lol… and shows up in Dan’s bubble bath.
Can’t wait to see what happens next….
Ha! That would be hilarious!
Hmmmm… There’s probably a pool somewhere in the city they’re searching for…
What’s funny is… with a giant elf tree, dragons, fairies, Astoria, dwarves, etc….
…how “amazing” is a big glowing circle?
Sigh….oh well. Maybe I’m overthinking it.
That IS pretty impressive!
Would we have a sleeping Alex and an awake Alex, or would they merge and be denied entrance to Dreamland again.

now I’m thinking of bringing felicity here and have her show up in Nicole’s bathtub… 😉
Oh, oh! Careful you two, don’t get too close.
Hehehehe… that’s what I was thinking XD Oohh! glowy circle!
the Bathtub thing is funny, but according to this: http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-17/page-1424/ it has to be a natural body of water…
you lucked out Dan!!!

Awwww darn.

Remember that it took Niviene months to learn the magic to pass through.
It would take Alex, what, decades? Eons? Until the Sun burns out? 🙂

I hadn’t noticed that. An exclamation point would also be appropriate.
Who you gonna call?
Dan and Nicole go skinny dipping in the college pond (natural body of water!) and Alex’s face pops up below the surface of the water between them.
Niviene grins, “It’s been a great place to hide the bodies of all my victim’s over the years! Nobody would think to look in another world!”

I agree. Magic is about the unexpected, the new–while anything can get normal after a while.
GHOST BUSTERS! Now I is gonna find my DVD of the GB 1 + 2 and have a 80s movie flashback tonight. Thank You Silverthorn74! lol
“Bazinga!”
