Page 1435…
Happy Monday, All!
I think I’m over the worst of this cold…yuck.
And I’ve worked all weekend through it to make sure there’s no repeat of last week.
I have 3 days worth of pages rendered. So we should be good for all week.
π
So…how about that Niviene…huh?
Such and impulsive mermaid…
Niviene is cute, but Merlin is WAY CUTIER <3
I was thinking what a wet kiss that must be when I also realised, ..Merlin is about to get fins. ^_^
I saw this coming… not that I blame her. Merlin is pretty good lookin’
..and then it occurred to me that Nastajia’s parents COULD be on Earth! ..except I doubt it without knowing why, for certain.
Bow Chicka Bow WOW! ^_^ lol Niviene has caught herself a wizard! And Merlin is about to be a fish outta water. Yep I went there…*Splash*
Glug Glug mister fishboy….;)
Where’s the proverbial catch. Magic that links two worlds together can warp and twist those that use it. Something bad is going to happen. This just seems too….. easy.
Wet sloppy kiss. Merlin had no chance.
You people! Such dirty minds! She’s just inviting him for a swim!
Actually, serves Merlin right, asking an open-ended question like that…
I mean, goodness, Merlin. The lady is young, and has not had any male companionship for months! What did you expect the answer to be? See! Even the wisest of wizards is just as clueless as any other guy! π
Now that I look more carefully, Niviene in the second panel does look like a hunter that has cornered its prey!
Once you go Land,
All others are bland π
Not bad for a girl trying frantically to stand upright on her fish tail.
Yeah….but she makes up lots of ground for being EXOTIC!
and I am left asking the obvious question of how her make-up stays viable under water for so long…
just one word: sweeeeet. ^^
I like that her eyes match her face in brightness. Or may it’s the eyelash color that contrasts against her eyes, making them stand out more.
And I agree that Merlin’s quite a looker! π
Hmmmm… somethingΒ΄s fishy here.
I’m guessing tomorrow will show if her mermaid “kissing magic” works in our world.
Magic! π
So cute <3 I don't know if we're supposed to read this in a romantic sense or not (since kissing is a greeting for mermaids) but I'm totally going to read it that way and nobody is gonna change my mind XD
based on her comment that she was young and impetuous I am going out on a limb and assume it was a at the very least lust based action on her part if not outright romantic…
Whoa! I never expected that!?! I suppose the same would hold true for Nastajia and Alex.
Great stuff Scott! You can tell exactly what’s coming by the look on her face. Priceless.
Came from work tonight and squealed when I saw this page, I love it!
I didn’t expect the kiss would come so fast. But at least we don’t loose time with silly romance.
LOVE that girl. I’d do the same thing.
A wizard did it π
It might reverse things and give her legs!
She’s not wearing makeup, that’s her natural coloration? π
Of Course There Was Going To Be A Kiss Today! But will Merlin embrace her or continue to be stunned?
Will the magic of Dreamland (Merlin becomes fishy) or Middle Earth prevail (she get legs)!
I was going to say she looks rather china doll like in the 2nd panel. Like one of those really old ones that you’d be paranoid about certain people (*cough cough*) holding onto for long because you just know they’d accidently drop it on something like concrete, and break it.
yes indeedy π
Love it!
Also Scott, I just want to give you a totally unrelated story.
I went to church and the sermon was about Nicodemus the pharisee. So I got to spend fifteen minutes imagining Jesus having a conversation with a dragon and replaced about every connotation they had in the sermon to the conversation with Dreamland references.
Thank you for an epic 15 minutes.
Those eyes…
Oh my gosh, I love how your brain works. π
N-no… m-must n-n-not… s-say it… c-can’t help m-m-myself…
AWWWWWWWW!!
dagnabbit…
well, they are on Earth. Maybe it depends on where you are? home turf and all that? huh. I guess we’ll find out.
*tips hat* that sounds awesome.
The look in her eyes in the second panel is so adorable. This page is brilliant. ^_^ And I’m glad you’re getting better from your cold.
is this a kissing book?
And everyone’s been saying Merlin’s so hot and Niviene’s so cute and all that. Tbh, I didn’t really feel the same way all along. But these 1st 2 panels completely changed my views~ they ARE really really cute ^___^
Smart thinking — I missed the whole kiss=fins connection!
Ha! I love it!
Not to nitpick or anything, but this has been bothering me for a bit:
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-15/page-1117/
in the second panel Merlin says that he knows NOTHING of Deamland, and yet it would seem that he would have gained quite an extensive amount of knowlege from his interaction with Niviene. so is Merlin simply hiding the fact that he knew from Arthur, or will something else crop up to explain it….
Oh, my goodness! LOVE the image!
I like your thinking eee! π That would be awesome!
@Jason – I think Merlin is holding something back, at least the details of his “encounter” with Niviene, though it’s still true he may know nothing about Dreamland itself as Niviene was an outcast, as you’d recall from a few pages back, and so wasn’t able to just tour Merlin around Dreamland. As there’s still details of this part of the story to be told, I’m sure we’ll soon know the full meaning behind those words, and great catch on that little plot twist.
Two things:
1. Merlin must be pretty buff to hold her up off the ground like that (she has no legs)
2. Dramatic irony! We readers know that this kiss is only intended to allow Merlin to breathe underwater. (… right? :p)
Ooh! That’s a GOOD one!
I knew I’d eventually run afoul of my own past in this story.
Hm… Now I need to find a way to justify this.
THINK! THINK! THINK!
Is Merlin going to lose contact with Niviene in the near future? Maybe after he lost contact with her, he starts to wonder if it happened at all… Then as he got older, he convinced himself that he had just imagined it all, so he forgot about it? Sorta like how Nicole forgot about Felicity and Dreamland until Alex brought it up?
or maybe she learned enough magic to do a memory wipe since adults aren’t allowed in Dreamland?
or or or!
having re-read that page in the handy dandy link, Merlin could be speaking bitterly how he knows nothing of Dreamland, suggesting a rift of some kind between him and Niviene.
Maybe something happened that causes Merlin to have to distance himself from his knowledge for the protection of Dreamland and Niviene! Since Nicodemus is “Dead”, there must be something bigger and darker this all could be linked too! Since Ol’ Nick kept saying that he had to be king for the protection of Dreamland, maybe we can found out a deeper reason behind that then him just not trusting humans to do the job. π
Already have the device there he emphasizes NOTHING, and THIS world. Course not knowing where you are going with the arc i cant say for sure, but since it seems the lady of the lake can come to our world, it would seem logical that merlin could go to dreamland. Which sets up the stage for a “choose which world is yours” and he chose ours not dreamland.
Not to mention just the way that conversation went it sounded more like, “I know nothing about dreamland’s politics”
Little do we know that waterproof make-up was not invented, but discovered. Also, if T.H. White’s telling of Merlyn’s story is to be believed, Merlyn is close to perishing at this point of his life. This is also one of the last days he has with Niviene.
By the way, how is her name pronounced?
hehe
“what you like to do first?”
“make sweet love to you.”
but but but… if he wanted to rid himself of Dreamland for its protection, why would he agree to Arthur making a pendant for free travel btwn the worlds???
+1
i like the “choose your world” idea! Though I’m not sure that’d justify him saying he *knows nothing* about dreamland =/
Well, it could mean he doesn’t know about the political situation in Dreamland, or wishes to discount it rather than “not knowing Dreamland exists” since he has clearly accepted that Dreamland *is* at that point (having sent the letter). the “I do not know about X” construction would seem to indicate that he isn’t taking X (Dreamland) into consideration when making the argument that follows. Maybe I’m strange, but that seems the simple reading in hindsight.
I thought number 2 also: I hate to think what will happen to Merlin the next time he takes a bath!
Brown chicken brown cow! ;D
Scott, …then again, this could also be used a vehicle for whatever you are planning for later in the story…. (or why Merlin was a bit against the creation of Arthur’s Pendant) π
One of the best lines from the movie The Matrix was when Neo tried to tell Morpheus what the Oracle thought about him being “the one”, and Morpheus cuts him off, “She told you exactly what you needed to hear, that’s all.”
By saying what he did Merlin kept the decision to create the bracelet Arthur’s alone.
And lets face it, a mage’s robes are made of secrets. If they didn’t have secrets they’d be naked to the world, and do you really want to see old Merlin neckid??
Oh, that’s an easy one.
At some point, Niviene will ask Merlin to keep all he knows about Dreamland and her secret. If any other Merperson, Nicodemus (then a fearsome vassal of a human king), or a Wraith spy learned about her activities, then she and potentially all other Merpeople would be in grave danger.
Merlin would be honor-bound to keep everything secret.
CALLED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Niviene!!!!!!
Merlin better grab that girl and kiss her like there’s no tomorrow, because something’s going to go wrong. I can feel it. Can they have mer-babies?
Totally sounds like a fun sermon to listen to lol especially with your mind throwing in the dreamland ideas. π What a wonderful mind you have.
I love you guys!
Unless you read Stephen Lawhead, in which Charis, an Atlantean, is called the lady of the lake by her future husband Taliesin, a druid, who then have a son, Merlin.
Very impossible. Merfolk generally distance themselves from humans. Elves on the other hand… have had relationships with merfolk in other worlds that I’ve read.
It could also be that, because he did have knowledge of Dreamland, that he knew about the wraiths (as evidenced later, when he successfully defends against them). Perhaps he was careful in what he said at all times, in case the wraiths were listening (which, in that instance, unfortunately they were), so as not to alert them that there were already other ways for adult humans to enter Dreamland.
This idea sounds great, at least to me. π
It doesn’t matter. I just realized I thought through the process backward when I made my post. It’s understandable, since T.H. White writes Merlyn as aging backward. He was born at some unstated point in the future, and lives backward from that point.
Anyway, I haven’t read much about Arthur or Merlyn. Pretty much everything I’ve read is by T.H. White. Ah, why do I have to draw out my explanations so much?
I read The Sword in the Stone, and that’s it.
idk man, i’d do him! XD
