Epic page!
TIMBER!
Now would be a perfect time for him to wake up.
And for some reason when I saw the size of Nic’s foot I couldn’t help but think, “That’s a big bunny ..”
FINISH HIIIM!!
GO NICK!
I was thinking the exact same thing.. He should wake up right before he hits the ground. So when he comes back he just falls like 2 feet! 🙂
I wonder if dragons make a good cushion….
Did anybody look at this and go,
“D’aww!”
(Nick looks like he’s cuddling him)
“I love my teddy bear!”
So that falling pillar doesn’t exactly look like the safest thing for Nico + Alex. It’ll all end in tears, I just know it.
Tears indeed, “RIPPING NOISE!!!” “It’s not looking goooood” “Doooown heeeee gooooooes…”
The pillar will smack Nic in the face, knock him unconscious, forcing him to release Alex who will then fly!
Awww… Nic is holding onto his only friend in the world as he falls….
it would be an awesome twist if alex was actually killed, which thus allows dan to come into dreamland, and the next storyline is about trying to figure out a way to bring alex back into dreamland.
I thought so too.
Then I remembered they’re plummeting to their deaths
I thought it was Arthur’s death what was needed to allow Dan into Dreamland
according to Inception, and the last time Alex fell off a tower, he might very well wake up during the fall. Though quite possibly waaay above 2 feet =3 Even at 2 feet, the question is, would he still be falling at the same velocity as when he woke up?
Well, I think the deal was “the previous King’s death”? Which had been Arthur all along, but now Alex is the new King… thus he is the new person preventing Dan from coming in?
fly you fools!!! both of you!!! ><
can someone remind me again why the rest of the gang haven't recovered their flying ability yet, now that Alex appears to have regained his dreamland abilities?
Can’t quite tell in this page if Alex is transparent or not… Looking forward to seeing if Alex really is waking up! Have to admit, it does look like the story is changing to a worse villain now…
Scott, thanks for putting up another page!
Ol’ Nic looks like he is hanging on for dear life! With this arrangement, I’m betting he will break their fall. And that nice sized piece of stone is going to break something!
I agree with others, him falling asleep right now would put quite the interesting twist on things!
Since it’s his subconscious falling not his physical form the vilocity within Dreamland probably doesn’t matter. It’s more the shock factor that would wake him. He may flop off the bed, which would be hilarious, but he doesn’t physically go anywhere.
It probably is closer to Matrix where “If you dies in the Matrix ..” .. “The body can not live without the mind.”
So, if Alex DOESN’T wake, he’d be a nice, ripe veggie.
Kiwi to the rescue! ^_^
It’s true.
Alex makes a good huggie doll! 🙂
If both Nick and the pillar are in freefall, no smacking would take place.
Except for Kiwi, the others could only fly because Alex could, and pulled them along with the power of his belief. Now that he can fly again, the same situation should be in effect; but without him they STILL can’t fly…
Based on the tower fall, if Alex wakes up right now it won’t do him any good because, the moment he falls asleep again, he’ll find that no time has passed in Dreamland and he’s STILL falling, in Nic’s grasp, at the same velocity. The only option I can see is for him to not give into fear – since fear paralyzes his abilities – concentrate for all he’s worth, and FLY even if it means pulling Nic’s weight as well as his own. I’m not sure he can do it, but it’s that or splashdown.
Anyone else thinking…. “wait, both these guys can fly…”?
I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him and call him George
Actually, if memory serves.. time DOES pass, but his physical location does not. Of course, he hasn’t been moving the last few times it’s happened we don’t know if momentum vectors are retained.
But, normally, he’s with everyone, wakes up, falls back asleep to be right where he was, but everyone else has gone and he has to catch up.
So, he might wake up falling, but without a nice comfy dragon cushion to fall on.
UNLESS Nick a lesser terminal velocity, which being the pillar is made out of *stone*, and Nick can *fly* I’m guessing such is a reasonable bet.
Even if it doesn’t KO him, I’m still hoping for pillar smackage myself. =P
I think you’re right. Time continues to pass, but with the real world and Dreamland’s time streams (That sounds too technical… “speeds,” maybe?) being independent of each other, shifting around relatively.
…Or maybe I’m thinking about Narnia…
If this is true, then wouldn’t that mean Dan would be able to go to Dreamland too, now? Seeing as Arthur is not in his tomb…
^ So true, so true.
Well, Arthur didn’t exactly die, now did he?
He more or less slipped into a place between worlds. Now he’s stuck there.
For all. Eternity.
…
I think I missed something.
I agree with others, him waking up right now would put quite the interesting twist on things!
Fixed. 😉
It depends on what part you land.
It appears that, if they do indeed “land,” Alex will be hitting Nic’s soft(er?) underbelly.
So he should be okay…
By the way Scott, thanks for reminding me (us) about the Ads in the blog. I recently got a “new” computer that I fixed up and upgraded, so I hadn’t disabled AdBlock yet.
Which I just did, by the way.
Thanks, apparently I was asleep when I wrote that!
My guess is Nick is too badly hurt to fly and Alex used up all his adrenaline and is physically exhausted from Nick pounding on him so much. Come on, mermaids! Drown the dragon and save the human!
And just then, Alex dreamed the dragon into 2.8 million cotton balls and landed in a big puff of fluff.
I dun buy the die in dream die in real life thing. Got shot in the heart in one of my dreams. Woke bolt upright clutching the ‘wound’. Still woke up. Can still feel it when I think about it.
lol XD i thought that too, by the position of his arms, nick looks he is hugging alex
some how i knew this situation was going to come up sooner or later.
Ummmmm……
yeah i think flight is now improbable……
soooo i hope for alex’s sake nick makes a good pillow……
ok is it just me or dose it look like their falling into water i hope for alex’s sake they are
Why is he quoting from Isaiah?
Back during the Tower episode, Alex and Felicity jumped together
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-05/page-322/
Alex woke up and was initially relieved, but then Dan pointed out the problem…
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-06/page-328/
Alex and Dan thrashed out what to do
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-06/page-343/
And when he woke up in Dreamland again, he and Felicity were STILL together. NO time had passed at all
http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/the-dreamland-chronicles/chapter-06/page-345/
Based on this, it would appear the time differential between Dreamland and Earth is completely dependent on Alex’s situation. When he’s not essential, time passes; when he is, it doesn’t. So if Alex woke up right now, the moment he fell asleep again, he’d be back in Nic’s tender embrace, going down fast…
He probably knew Isaiah…
Nic’s coughing. Smoking cigarettes and/or getting stabbed in the lung can do that to you.
one is having spine problems and lung since nic coughed that will show that his lung is indeed filing up with blood so the blade did in fact nicked a lung and hit his spine and he looks to only have control of his arms and ably to speak as he dies..
so yeah they both cant fly due nick is crippled atm and alex is disorientated to fly
Personally I’m not really that satisfied with Nic’s grasp on Alex…I feel almost like he’s holding him like he’s a doll or action figure, something soft and gentle like that. If I remember right in the last few pages, Nic was holding Alex by the ankle. Personally I think it would look more devastating if Nic was STILL holding Alex there and Alex was a bit more in the foreground, his hand still reaching out to Nastajia with a look of fear or something. From what I can see, it seems like Nic is holding his side where his wound is, which makes sense, but from this angle it looks like he’s almost hugging Alex. Not really that bad scary evil dude “I’m taking you with me” type of thing.
Also, while I’m at it, Nastajia’s new lipstick color has been bothering me since the change, I’m not gonna lie. Maybe in a brighter landscape it would look better, but it blends in too much in the background now and looks too murky.
But MAN, I’m really enjoying how intense this whole battle has been. I doubt Alex will wake up because if he does, it might just ruin the flow of epicness, story telling-wise. I feel like he’ll probably fly and take Nic with him, and the FINAL final blow will happen sometime along that line (after all, Alex did say it was his battle–as awesome as Nastajia is, it’s not her place to do the final kill)
PS-first time commenter! 😀
So, let’s see if Alex remembers his super-strength and flying ability before they hit.
Somehow, I don’t think Nic’s armored belly would be all that much of a cushion – at that speed, hitting water in a back flop would be like hitting concrete as the water cannot get out of the way fast enough to slow (rather than stop) a falling dragon.
I can see him landing on top of Nic’s soft fleshy underbelly.. hurting him but softening the blow enough for him to survive the fall at the very least..
Also, for those paying attention there is nothing but water and rubble below.. so there is a possibility that both of them will survive the fall leading to a “water battle” or them laying there talking as they start to sink..
Wednesday’s page will go up in the morning.
See you in a few hours.
That’s weird, I could swear when I first saw this it had no dialogue… I personally prefer it that way, but maybe I”m alone in that?
Okay, this has been bothering me for the past couple of days. Who the heck is Nic quoting here?
ok, so ive noticed that lots of people are talking about alex waking up, but did anyone notice the huge stone block right by nicks head?
im thinking that the stone hits Nick in the head, and as a reaction he lets Alex go, giving Alex the oppertunity to fly off to safety
No, time didn’t pass because Felicity was still with him when he returned to Dreamland. I don’t know about when he falls without somebody else, but when he falls with somebody else it seems that no time passes (probably something in Dreamland so that if people are flying with friends and wake up their friends don’t all plummet to the ground and die).
I still think that him waking up would do him some good, though, because it would return the sword to his possession (and let him consult Dan without any time passing in Dreamland) which would allow him to deal with Nicodemus fairly easily (considering Nicodemus’ severely weakened state).
Actually, Arthur was only trapped there until Alex removed the sword (because the sword is what allows a human to be in Dreamland). At that point Arthur then passed away. The sword states that Alex is now the king, which caused Nicodemus to be quite upset (because he thought there would be no new king because he had trapped Arthur), but was told that Arthur had indeed died. The fact that Alex now has the sword means that he is king, and is the one preventing Dan from entering (though I think Alex was correct that if he had given the necklace to Dan, that Dan could have been king).
I don’t have a link handy, but it has been stated early in the story that the amount of time that passes in Dreamland while one is awake ranges from mere seconds to entire hours. It’s not a straight, nor consistent, comparison of time between the worlds.
He is quoting the prophet Isaiah (and other people have cited the exact verse, I think as early as the first day he started).
I’m still on the one man “upcoming plot twist” bandwagon made up of me…and that one other guy who thinks Scott might kill Alex.
While this may be true, different rules seem to be in place when he is falling with somebody else, which can be seen by your statement. Since time passes (albeit sometimes only a few seconds) normally, but no time passes when he is falling with somebody else (since even a few seconds would have been long enough for Felicity to have fallen and died), there appears to be a special rule.
two objects of different weight falling from the same height at the same time hit bottom at the same time.(Galileo) the pillar which seems to fallen after nic & alex (talk about a odd couple) will follow them both down to the bottom and smack whoever once they hit bottom.
Aha! With this mention of vengeance Nic has betrayed his true motivation, I think. It’s not about Dreamland.
However, that doesn’t take resistance into account. Things that are solid chunks, like the pillar, will fall faster than things that catch more air, like Nicodemus, whose wings are spread out. It is how birds can stay in the air, even when they aren’t flapping their wings. Thus, if he continues to have his wings spread out, that chunk will hit him (and since it has gathered more speed, unless Nicodemus dodges it, it might hit him anyway).
I think Nicodemus is simply referring to getting his revenge for being mortally wounded.
Isaiah 63:3, to be exact. :o)
This reminds me of when, in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Giga Bowser grabs the player character so they both fall into the pit. Hey, Bowser’s more or less a dragon.
And of course, there’s the “Fly, you fools!” moment from The Lord of the Rings.
Agreed. Apparently has no signs of life in the waking world when he’s in dreamland. So if he dies in Dreamland, I think he’d die in real life.
Well, with Alex it’s very different. Can’t really compare this to traditional depictions and expectations of dreams (such as demonstrated in Inception). This is Dreamland, not the dreamer’s mind.
But where would the comic go from there? Alex the King Ghost?
but at this moment, Alex is still there.. so they should all be able to fly….. =/
I hear ya! Bring home a win for the dragons! 😀
You can do it, Alex!
It looks like Nick’s injury is showing up.
I don’t think waking up would work well considering he doesn’t have the sword on him (if I recall correctly, this is what allows him to go to dreamland as an adult), which would mean he would never be able to back to dreamland again.
It’s been demonstrated that he doesn’t have to be holding it in Dreamland for it to reappear on him in the real world when he wakes up. For instance, when the sword was knocked out of his hands when Nic paid a little ‘visit’ to the Centaur’s village while Alex was there; Alex woke up while the sword was discarded and planted in the ground. He had it with him when he woke up and, when he went back to sleep, was able to retrieve it (with some interaction with rock giants).
“To the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell’s heart, I stab at thee; For hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.”
Bowser’s a kappa turtle technically. Calling him a dragon is a bit off.
straight to limbo with the lot of you
Just wake up already.
Welp, this looks like the perfect time to combat log…
