LOL Poor Alex, always being reminded how his brother is theoretically the better king. Hopefully he proves himself in battle, and thwarts whatever sabotage plans the wraiths came up with.
Thanks finals, for making me stay up so late to enjoy the page early.
To be honest Alex is probably the better fighter, so as long as Dan keeps sending messages accross they are gonna be pretty much untoppable, How are the wraiths getting across anyway?
“Well, we’ve developed the knowledge-pig… You look into its rectum and, if you do not die from exposure in the process, you are endowed with great knowledge.”
“So many children have come to Dreamland, why have we not heard of this?!”
“Well, only people with a lot of Xbox achievement points can trade them in for a knowledge-pig token, that’s what you pay the pig with to look into its rectum, and probably most of the kids don’t want to talk about it as that would mean they’d have to admit they suck at Xbox.”
“You come from a strange and wondrous world, Alexander… Strange and wondrous indeed.”
Personally, I think they’re exactly where they need to be. Alex is very Arthurian in his nature (read the once and future king, you’ll see what I mean) with Dan making the perfect Merlin. As far as king and adviser, they’re perfectly set up.
In ancient Sparta they had two kings. One for strategy/politics/civilian matters and one for Battle/police/soldier matters.
I can see the brothers pulling this sort of thing
At some point, I hope we get a chance to see a blatant character flaw in Dan. Perhaps leaving someone behind to save himself, or cowardice, or just not able to accept being beaten in something. So much potential. I hope we see a lot more of Dan’s development in later chapters.

“How is someone so young, so knowledgeable?”
“Books.
History.
Study.
… RTS and RPG games … ”
😉
Amen! 😀
… and some geekitude (geek-attitude) 😀
Oh you know…
Internet.
And hopefully a lot of TvTropes, especially bits about Xanatos Gambits and enemies that can live in shadows, with a healthy allowance for Alex being the Xanatos Gilligan.
Wikipedia, I’ll bet.
Gotta love wiseguy fans! =)
Those and a lack of social life and you’ll be amazed at tyhe things you can learn.
Saw and immediately thought Fairly Oddparents…
Dad: Young man, where did you get all these nice things?
Timmy: Uh…Internet?
XD
im back from….. how many pages ago????? awesome!!!!!!!!!!! pages
Why do I get the feeling the lizard men from before already know whats on that note and plan to thwart this whole thing? o.o
Again, I love the environment! Cool “fog of war” feeling going on here!
Oh yeeeeeah… Do NOT neglect “Beyond The Fourth Wall”! http://4thwall.240gl.org/index.php
Welcome back, Sophia!
I like to think that Dan knew about the wraiths and thought ahead to make different plans that they wouldn’t see.
It’s equally possible that he didn’t, of course, but maybe I’m an optimist.
Dan got all the brains of the family, no question. Let’s hope Alex got as much of the brawn as he’s now gonna need.
Certainly a better advisor–but depending on how good he is at the diplomatic and the on-the-spot leading and generalship…
OK, Dan is very likely the better king. But Alex should be good enough, especially if Dan is there to think things through.

He could have messed with Orion though.

“How is someone so young, so knowledgable?”
“Dan got the official Prima strategy guide to Dreamland.”
Because even raging morons get it right sometimes.
“Everything I needed to know I learned on Wikipedia…and RuneScape. VERY informative it was!”

Turn-based strategy helped too.
