Probably referring to when he and felicity had to jump from nicodemus’ treasure chamber and he used the sword to slow their fall. (Not so much a “cut the building in half” but it’s the only time I can remember him cutting into a building of any sort. and I just got through re-reading the archives a few days ago ^^;; )
Alex: “Cut the building in half”
Sword: “Ye-…”
Alex: “No…wait.”
Alex: “That was kinda cool.Keep that.”
Sword: “Sorry, I’ve seemed to have lost that record now.”
Alex: “…”
Alex: “I hate you now….”
i don’t think that is zooming out.
i don’t see the wood thin on the left shrinking… i don’t see any woodhting at all:)
i think it’s just one of those comic things where charaters can walk and talk really fast!
didn’t alex wake up when he was falling from that tower? Usually when he wakes up, dreamland keeps going on, thus making it a real place which would have left felicity to fall to her death, instead of remain in free fall for alex to come back to dreamland and save her…
Unless I’m missing something, maybe alex should just be a faster critical thinker or else she dies
Alex: “And that time when I ….”
Sword: “YES Alex, yes. Also that time. Geez… what part of ‘everything’ is so hard to understand?”
Alex: “So you didn’t close your eye when I…..”
Sword: “NO! And I’ll never forget that painfull experience. Now quit bugging me.”
Is this a part of a test for the sword?
At page 1162 (last panel) it seems that Dan was thinking something about the recording properties of the sword.
History records what the person writing it -wants- to. It would be rather interesting to see what our history would be if we’d had an impartial “records all” kind of observer like the sword.
According to Kiwi (pg 76 in Chapter 2), Alex is sometimes gone for seconds and sometimes for hours when he wakes up. It seems that time can be variable between Dreamland and the real world.
Alex jumped in to fight them with Kiwi while Paddington holds the sword and watches. Then the scene cuts away and the next time we see him is being dragged into the throne room by the guards. So either he gave up or they beat him up. While we didn’t see it the sword would have.
Scott has said that this is an extremely useful plot device. He can make as much time pass in Dreamland as necessary to make the story go where he needs it to go.
Alex you are going to have to learn that no matter what you do the sword is going to record it… even if you end up not lookin heroic in it. but your still our favorite king so keep slogging on
YESSSSS. 🙂
Sorry, Alex–you don’t get to choose. It all stays, like it or not.
… I seem to have forgotten the building cutting to which he speaks…
Which seems odd, as I imagine I’d agree with Alex on this point.

Yes. He’s exaggerating a bit.
🙂
Ah, Alex. Good kid, but… ^_-

He was beat up by pirates, not guards.
The sword wasn’t with him when the castle guards carted him off to the dungeon, and they didn’t beat him up.

btw, either Alex walks really, really fast or they talk really really slow lol
History records all, forgets none; it is men who forget, or at least try to.
actually i think he’s in the same spot and it’s just zooming out, if you noticed the wood thing to the left is shrinking with him
LOL, poor sword. He watched Arthur’s stupidity get himself killed and set a usurper on the throne and now Alex is dictating to him like a secretary.
Lol.
If the sword didn’t record mistakes, how could future kings learn from them hmmm?
{I’m sorry, Alex. I can’t do that.}
Oh, Alex. You crazy kid.
Scott, I love how your website changes from day to night. Such a nice touch. 🙂
lol

wait a sec…

oh and also he’s definitely walking away from us here

He’s just pausing between questions. Ask question, walk 10 steps while thinking, ask another question, and so on.
Why is Alex not asking about Real Life events, now that it is more than established that it records all Dreamland events.

Do you think he would like some cheese with that whine?

That’s EXACTLY what I was thinkin’, DD. Right down to the ^_-

Indeed.
“History is written by the victors.” – Winston Churchill
So if you know anybody named Victor, be really nice to him.

Hi everyone, don’t forget to vote!

Dreamland should be in the top 10, not stagnating in the 30’s! 😉
Yeah! I keep being disappointed when I scroll all the way down to 34 on top 100 comics to find Dreamland. It deserves to be higher!
Well… he DID cut all the way through a big ol’ boulder right before he met Nastajia again.
