Page 1150…
Happy Monday all!
I’ll hopefully be on a five day a week schedule. Fingers crossed.
🙂
I wanted you all to know I’ve pulled our books from IDW.
We’re no longer publishing with them.
This means that Book 4 and Magic Carpet are going to be self published.
Sorry again for the delays…but I’ll let you all know when we’re ready to print up more books.
Also…I have a new DONATION desktop up.
“Bonk” for the win. I love it!
You will notice that Dan is a bit jealous here of what Alex has that he doesn’t.
I suppose that whole “Should we go to war or not?” thing is what is bothering him.
Is it just me or is that desktop rather odd looking? I mean it looks like he grabbing her chin in an odd way.
I suppose the armor chafes?
He’s kinda skipping over the whole “about to potentially send millions to their deaths by going to war” thing, huh…
Yes, this looks like Alex trying to avoid responsibility. He still has some growing up to do.
well, in this case I can see why he would want to avoid responsibility. that’s one big chunk and someone as young as him, with as little preparation as he had, is allowed to be overwhelmed/scared by what’s lying in front of him.
and the good thing about this: as long as he’s doubting himself, he as least won’t make any decision lightly and it may just help him to stay grounded. the last thing dreamland needs is another being that’s been corrupted by the power they possess. as long as he doesn’t let his fear choke him, he should be fine. 🙂
This is a huge decision he has to make; send people to war, rule dreamland, have Nastajia by his side. I think, if I were in his shoes, I’d be the same way; completely freaked out, not knowing what to do… I just hope Dan can help him out with this thing.
i would love to see added..
Dan you dont understand i just want the woman not the kingship and besides you’re supposed to be king.
me i am just supposed to fall in love with the elf chick

Dan is being rather cavalier about this, isn’t he? Especially since the shiny armor, big castle, loyal subjects and the magical talking sword were all supposed to be his. Although the fact he doesn’t have to be the one to decide between the fate of aforementioned subjects is a plus.
bah forums made me double post sorry about that
I can see how, on first glance, it is completely attractive to be King, but as Alex knows (and I’m sure Dan will find out soon enough) of the responsibility of having lives in balance.
I love the “Bonk” sound effect as well .
Dan is smarter and would make a better king… wait did he say big castle, shiny armor and a princess ?
I don’t think Dan gets it just yet.
Alex may have been something of a slacker (and may still be), but I think what is worrying Alex now is that he is afraid he’s not up to the challenge facing him – because it’s not just about him. It’s about all the people who will be depending on him, and what will happen if he fails.
Don’t forget, the first time he went up against Nicodemus in a deliberate attack, he missed, went down in flames, and was unable to do anything as he saw Nicodemus turn to attack Nastajia – and then woke up not knowing if she was okay. Only Paddington jumping in saved her and he didn’t find that out until he came back to Dreamland.
If he goes to war against Nicodemus, the possibility of something like that happening is going to be what he faces again and again. I don’t think Dan has grasped this yet – but Nicole might, because she now remembers seeing her friend Felicity captured by Nicodemus and being totally helpless to rescue her.
Leave it to Dan to see the silver lining on any cloud. Of course, the silver lining on this one is nice, thick, and super shiny…it’s just that the cloud is, huge, dark, ominous, and oddly shaped like a dragon trying to om-nom Alex’s head.
lol! The “bonk” so made my Monday morning too!
Alex is so cute when he’s stressed out… and remember Dan has no idea yet that he’s supposed to be King. That ought to be interesting. O_o What will Nicole think?
I love Dan. This is is why. I also love that new Desktop!!!! Best of luck post-IDW.
Scott: I suppose you are still in the process of changing the whole publishing thing, but I wanted to remind you that the fourth book is still in Amazon’s listings (as not released yet). I guess you should either change the publisher name or remove that entry and create a new one, if you’re still planning to sell it on Amazon in the end.
When you scroll down the page a little fast, is nice to see Dan’s dialogue animated.
That was actually funnier the second time I read it, lol!
With great power comes . . . nah, I won’t say it, but you know what I mean.
for all his simplicity, it’s good to see Alex has some sense.
“It’s good to be da’ King!”
(with regards to Mel Brooks)
Same here! Hehehheh!
Yep. I don’t blame him. That is Alex’s counter point though. Give it about three minutes and Dan will either be in shock or start explaining why Alex has to go to war.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah…. 😉
Actually, I think it’s going to take both twins to make one king…
Plus the whole “Oh, and I don’t know how to go to war.” Arthur was raised on war for peace, Alex on the other hand knew nothing but peace until he returned to Dreamland. Even then, the best that he could do at the time was run from Nightmare realm pirates, get his butt saved by Nastajia, and then taken to the Elven kingdom with the sword too find a nice suit of armor. Then he proceeded to get his butt occasionally kicked by Nicodemus. Then they met up with the centaurs after saving Felicity from getting deep fried and dropped off a cliff. Then Nic shows up again and starts causing problems. Then he wakes up.
Thanks Lora!
🙂
That’s up to IDW. But I’ll let them know.
Thank you.
Oh…I forgot to mention…
You can see Felicity and Orion somewhere in Alexander’s reflection in the Donation art.
Those of you who’ve donated and got the desktop…hope you found them.
🙂
I think deep down, Alex knows, but it won’t form itself in words, or he’s afraid to tell Dan that war has been declared and these are definitely not “real fictional people in real fictional danger,” but real people in real danger. Not only are his close friends’ lives at stake, but other Dreamlanders with close human friends, as well as the gateway between the two worlds.
Sucks about IDW, but this is getting ridiculous, waiting around for these books. I’ll definitely try to buy from the site’s store when I get a job.
He’s 20 years old and isn’t the son of some general or president. Knowing that people could die by his order really bothers him. He doesn’t have the life experience yet to truly be at peace with declaring war and knowing people will die.
Plus, Alex made a good point before he left. King Arthur had a lifetime of experience as a SUCCESSFUL warrior to rely on. Alex has a few weeks of training with a centaur shaman and a few hectic fights (with decidedly mixed results).
Didn’t see a link to the Voting thing so here:
http://topwebcomics.com/vote/4274/default.aspx
There really ought to be a permanent link to that somewhere on the site so folks don’t have to hunt back through old comments or wait for Tekserver to post it in order to vote for the comic.
This very much reminds me of a song… I can’t find the full lyrics online, so I’ll have to quote my own post from another forum.
“It isn’t easy being king
No matter what you’re all thinking
Somebody threatening our borders;
Somebody disobeying orders;
It isn’t easy being king!
From a movie that’s a David and Goliath musical, don’t know what the movie is called.”
For the record, I now remember the movie being from a series called ‘Liken the Scriptures.’ I also remember a verse that goes like this:
‘Oh what I’d give to lose this headache…
Always having to look out for number one!
Am I cheered or am I booed?
Is there poison in my food?
I’m telling you, it’s really not that fun.’
Not to mention the whole ‘diplomacy’ thing, which Alex would fail at. Then there’s the ‘looking out for the wellbeing of the kingdom’ thing that Arthur had trouble with…
Whoa. What kind of mousse does Alex use on his hair…? xD
Let’s see.
Heavy, sweaty Armor to wear every day,
A whole castle to keep under control,
Whiny subjects who probably won’t let you do what you want,
Problems you have to solve by talking it over with your sword…
Oh… and a whole kingdom to keep from going completely bonkers with a hot headed elf fallowing you around.
Yeah. I can see why that would be unattractive.
lol. loved the part where alex slammed his head on the table. bonk!
hahahaha. I thought that too.
gotta remember thought, that Dan just had a “first kiss” with Nicole, so he’s pretty cool without the armor clad “hot headed” elf, as the TheeNightmareQueen said.
I say stick to 3 a week and build up an even bigger buffer. That way, when more of the other business comes back into full swing, you stand a much better chance of keeping a consistent 3 a week schedule devoid of unnecessary guilt.
Hm…I may consider that.
Thanks.
Hey All…
I DO have a page for Tuesday…but need to letter it.
Had a very late meeting (movie stuff)…so will upload the new page by noon.
Thanks
Liken the Scriptures! 😀 Those are the cheesiest movies ever, but they’re so much fun to watch. (I’d have to say my favorites are the first two, but they’re all fun to watch) And in this case, that song really does fit well here. And I think another thing to remember is that in Alex’s (our) world, kings don’t usually have to lead others out into battle. The most likely case here is that Alex and his friends will be not only commanding an army, but leading them out as well. While it’s a danger to others safety, it’s also a danger to those that Alex cares most about.
Haha! ^.^ Through your shoe at him alex!!! Haha, j/k.
Oh my gosh, I was JUST head-desking, just now, because classes started today and there’s already about 12 million things that I need to do that I’d really just rather not do. I totally sympathise with poor Alex, here. Totally, 100% sympathise.
I thought you said mouse
I found Felicity, but not Orion. Where is he?
Heheh *BONK*
Dan is so incredibly patient with his brother. He doesn’t seem jealous or anything that Alex gets all the adventure.
And by that, you surely mean Go Vote! for Dreamland, cause we oughta be in First place!
And by the way, Go Vote! for Dreamland, cause we oughta be in First place!
I love you. 🙂 <3
The reflection is on his fingers (the ones on her shoulder)
