Page 2148…
Happy Monday!
So… there are THREE MORE PAGES LEFT!!!!
That’s it. No more Dreamland after this.
14 years I’ve been working on this series for my twin boys Brendan DANIEL Sava and Logan ALEXANDER Sava!
11 years I’ve been posting a page a day online here.
7 (soon to be 8) graphic novels
4 (soon to be 5) kickstarters
6 languages you’ve all begun translating the comic into
Several awards (thank you)
4 figures (Alex, Nastajia, Kiwi, Felicity)
1 Plush (Paddington, of course)
10 trading/sketch cards
And so much more…
I’ve loved seeing your fan art, reading your letters, meeting you in person, seeing your cosplays, and friending you in real life.
You’ve supported me when we couldn’t afford new computers, printing, or even food to feed the kids.
You’ve encouraged me to finish. You’ve laughed, cried, and squealed with glee with me at each turn of the page.
I’m both saddened and excited to see this endeavor come to an end.
Thank you.
With the most profound love and gratitude,
Scott
What’s next, some side stories? The wedding of Alex and Nastajia? Or a sequel to The Dreamland Chronicles???
No. I WAS thinking of asking Tracy to redo the entire series in her art style.
Thoughts?
Can’t believe it’s almost over! Thanks so much Scott (and Tracy too) for all your hard work, dedication and for the story! <3
About the page: love the swooshy cape. Isn't it supposed to spell "Ashendel?" Or have I been reading that wrong all my life?
Dear scott. Thanks for this. Found your site in 2007, in a very desperate time. Been a source of enjoyment and levity ever since.
So … having worked on something similar in effort an duration, i do know of that special feeling of bereavement and accomplishment.
I do applaud you for this marvelous story, and i shall not say ‘do not weep’ to all the fellow readers for not all tears are from evil.
Even good things do come to an end.
Stay safe, hale and healthy! Oh. And my sincere thanks to tracy for bringing it to the end in that wonderful wonderful art of hers. :))
Thanks Scott, for all the years i have read your story. It has helped me learn to read english! Is there a book coning for the last chapters?I hope so! I wish you all the good for you and your family.
Nice catch. I’ll send Tracy a stern email (virtually shakes fist at her angrily)
Thank you!
π
Thank you.
Yes. I’ll be doing a kickstarter for book 8
Scott,
I love your stories and am in awe of the effort and sacrifice it took over those years to bring them to us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work and the love you poured into Dreamland to bring it to us.
I hope to follow you in your other endeavors. May they be graced with success!
All the best to you and your family!
I can’t believe it’s almost over. For some reason I was expecting to have another few weeks left of this incredible story, which has been a daily delight for a few years now.
Thank you Scott and Tracy for bringing so much fun and excitement to all of us readers!
Jings, only three pages left? I knew the end was nigh, but not quite _that_ nigh!
*cries*
Thank you for the story, it’s been a good one π
fixed
Thank you so very much!
*hugs*
Thank you!
I thought I had more time too
π
Thank you!
π
Been following your comic for years now Scott, and it’s been a great run.
Thank you for all your hard work, and Tracy as well for helping finish it up!
Hoping that your movie is a great success!
Best wishes for the future π
I think there’s been a request for exactly that. It would help make the art very consistent.
Consider it a viable option.
Nice goal Dan. But just how are you going to do this? Sure Nightmares and Ilk have no real place in Dreamland, but you kind of need pirates. How else are kids who want to have Peter Pan like adventures going to fulfill their dreams?
Sounds expensive and a very time consuming. But the best efforts usually are.
Personally I found the CGI a bit weird, but it had grown on me.
Tracy’s art though is fantastic and really fits the comics.
If that’s your desire then by all means, I say go for it.
Only 3? darn, I was hoping for a bit more what happened after, Never been a fan of sudden endings like this.
Will you ever do anything more with this world? Or any more web comics at all?
Or is it the movie business for you now?
My thoughts exactly. This has been an epic read. Kudos to Scott and Tracy, and all the others who’ve contributed their skills, time and effort to this comic over its lifetime.
Scott, I’ve been waiting for the end of the series to start to share with my oldest twin sons (Samuel and Joshua). We will be starting next Monday. Thank you so much for this wonderful series.
I always wanted to see what happens with Felicity of course and find out how she takes to be practically being worshiped by an entire culture. Does she still go on adventures or does she eventually become a spoiled fat cat in both metephorical and literal senses.
Hi Scott,
It has been a pleasure to always read about it, and I would love to continue the story in Dutch. I still am struggling a bit since I don’t seem to get to much people on my site. And since the story might go with the new layout, I might just want to wait until either the new comics are done, or that there has been a decision made to not do it.
I would love to see some short side-story’s about Nastajia and Alexander, and all the characters in the future after this event. A sort of a pro-logue.
Same. *nods*
I wouldn’t mind seeing more stories having an ending similar to Parks and Recreation.
Where you find out what happens later in everyone’s life.
I love closure.
I think a mix of the C.G for the real world and hand drawn for dreamland would look striking. But then we would miss the amazing C.G models of Nicodemas……. tough choices!
Hey Scott,
as much as it saddens me to say (since I really enjoy this comic since I first found it and wish it would go on forever) congratulations in bringing this off!!! This is quite an achievement and you stuck to your ideas and got it through. All the awards and praise are highly deserved as this is a top notch story that one does not get tired of reading.
Really looking forward into seeing Animal Crackers. My wife and I love animated films and we’ll definitely go and see that one.
So again, congratulations and looking forward to you future endeavors. Scott Sava is a name I’ll look forward to seeing. π
Firstly, Thank you so my Ms. Sava for this comic! Congratulations of the movie and on finishing this story!
I’ve been reading this for so many years now I’m sad and excited to see it reach it’s end! I’m really hoping maybe you’ll start from page 1 again and have it update daily like it has been but from the beginning! Coming here as been part of my daily routine for many years and I’d like to keep doing it! [This is also one of the very few websites I turn my ad-blocker off for!]
That would be awesome! Though I’d be pretty happy with just re-running the comic from page 1 with the same 1 page a day schedule! I’ve been coming here for years every day and don’t want to stop now.
π
Thank you!
Thanks.
I think I’m done for now. That’s a long stretch.
Though, redoing the series with Tracy’s art should take 8 more years.
So there’s that.
And the movies.
π
Oh how cool!
I hope they love it as much as my boys did.
π
Who knows? Maybe one day.
Or maybe we leave it up to fanfiction?
Hey Caspar! I’m so sorry I’ve been missing these last couple years with the movie. Thank you for working so hard and making the translations a possibility.
You’re the best!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for everything.
π
If Tracy’s up for it, go for it π I liked the CGI when it was happening but the 2d art has really made it feel more real, tbh.
Thank you for years of a great read, it’s been quite a ride.
also I’m voting for “start posting again from the first page” so I can keep having this in my feed.
Semper Dreamlandis
Movies, definitely please do the movies. I’ve really enjoyed this story and like all really great stories you don’t want it to end, but I understand. I do hope we see something else from you though. I’m sure you have more great stories to tell and you know we would all love to experience them.
Well Scott, as any creator knows, take a break refresh your batteries and then On to the next Project!.
and Thank You for sharing Dreamland with us.
Itβs difficult to say whether itβs worth the considerable amount of work involved, but I will say that given the choice to re-read the whole story from the start in CG or in this hand-drawn art, Iβd unquestionably pick the hand-drawn version.
I love the CGI…I’d hate to see it disappear, but then again I do have the books. If Dreamland ever came to the big screen, I’d love to see it as CGI.
I can’t remember how long I have been reading The Dreamland Chronicles…years, I think. I will be sad to see it end, although I am happy that the tale has unfolded in a very unique, satisfying way. Thank you for this gift to us, and I’m glad we have been able to help you and your family out during your lean times. I wish you all joy and prosperity now that things are looking up and up for you!
I’m looking forward to seeing a Dreamland movie! π
Maybe keep the first nineteen chapters in the old CGI and the last two in the 2d style.
Also who wants to see Alex and Nastajia get married???
Thank you!
Thank you!
On one hand, it would look better. On the other, it would not be true to what this comic was. But really, you could say the CGI was a first draft that allowed the creation of the story with the resources on hand, so it would not be revisionism.
The wedding of Alex and Nastajia with Alex’s mum there with the bracelet!
Also, thanks Scott for this awesome story.
Thanks, Scott. I started reading in Chapter 2. It’s been an incredible story and I’ll be sad to see it end, but that’s fine because every story needs an ending. I have bought all four action figures, two of them signed at ComicCon from many moons ago. Missing the plushie, though… π
It’s been a true labor of love. One greatly appreciated and given praise upon praise that is so well deserved. Thank you for the years of fun and adventure.
I would also like to echo that I would adore a Dreamland movie. The whole run would make a great trilogy. Here’s hoping Animal Crackers does well and that it may harken the discussion of a Chronicles silver screen appearance.
A long as the loose end of the tablet gets tied up neatly, I’m happy. Maybe I missed it? I have been fairly busy.
I think it would be great, but allow me to be super practically minded: Once finished, the story will not be able to attract or sustain its sizeable audience a second time around, definitely not through several more years. Sooner or later, it will become financially unfeasible to keep it going, I’m afraid.
Thank you so much Scott for making this a part of my life for all these years. It has been a glorious adventure and I look forward to seeing your film and other future efforts.
I have to thank you for such a great comic! I’ve actually been reading this since 2009. I actually have books 2 and 3 (paperback) and I have enjoyed reading them on here.
Sad to see it end. I’m a bit surprised that no one has taken over as the new Nightmare King (somehow I see a new one having the voice of Robin Williams!) who just punishes bad children! Oh well we could see spin offs or side stories.
But back on topic, I think of whether to redo the all the past pages should be left up to you as I’m okay with whatever decision you make.
And let me say thank you for creating such a wonderful and amazing story for all of us to read! Thank you very much.
Thank you for everything, Scott. What a journey this has been! Thank you and everyone else involved in giving us readers hours and hours worth of fun over the last years.
As one of the translators for the German pages I appreciate everything you have given us.
Don’t be sorry, I really am looking forward to see the movie. Anything known about the movie going abroad?
Fan fiction? sounds dangerous!
If you do a movie for Dreamland you bet I’m going to go watch it!
I’ve not commented here for too long, but just to say it’s rather amazing to see you finish this off (just three pages left, EEP! O_O). I miss the CGI, but Tracy’s art is great and I totally understand the change was necessary to get here.
So, to summarise, thanks for all the wonderful years of fun and intrigue Scott! I’m so very glad I found this comic in the first instance. ^_^
P.S. I love GoT, but I have to say I’ll miss this more. π
Aw. Thanks.
So glad you’ve been around all this time.
π
I think it was. Maybe re-read when you get a chance.
Thank YOU for being a part of it as well.
π
Thank you!
It has been my pleasure.
Thank you very much!
I can’t say that enough to you. I really appreciate the hard work you put into the translations.
Personally… I really fell in love with Tracy’s art and would love to see the whole comic in her art style. For me, it just suits the comic better. That being said, I agree, that it would be a massive undertaking. I guess it all depends on Tracy and whether she’s up for it.
Aw. Thank you!
π
Nooooo don’t be stern with Tracy! π
When you do the movies, can you please get Liam Neeson to voice King Oberon? That’s how he’s sounded in my head since I met the character. I mean, like, Star Wars and Chronicles of Narnia Liam Neeson, not Taken Liam Neeson. π
I also didn’t realize we were THIS close to the end. I’ll miss checking here every day. It has been a highlight of my day for so many years. Thank you Scott and Tracy and everyone who was ever involved for a great story and beautiful art.
Funnily, another thing I will miss will be the comments section here. I’ve gotten to recognize a few of the regulars here. So many of the comments are so fun to read, from silly movie quotes to intense theorizing to serious social commentary. And everyone being so helpful every time someone can’t remember a certain scene in the comic and asks for a reference. I will miss you all.
Wishing everyone the best and looking forward to Scott’s future work!
You’re welcome!
For me, it was more fun than work, and I think the rest of the team felt the same. In any case, you are more than welcome.
I wouldn’t mind seeing it all redone in Tracy’s art. Loved the CGI, but it kinda… breaks once Tracy takes over.
But I would also love for the CGI to continue to be available, via the first page or a link at the top. It’d be especially fun to be able to compare. π
Thank you, Scott. I don’t remember when I started reading this, it was shortly after you did a Christmas special for another comic involving Felicity and a giant ball of yarn. Evidently, I didn’t post comments very much back then. π
But I have loved this comic, and will be sad to see it go. I will have to revisit, and definitely buy the books.
