Who has a link for the first time she took a sword to Nicodemus?
For a moment, I thought Nick was seeing his life flash before his eyes, but I see now that Gilgamesh very conveniently knocked him through the wall separating the battery chamber from his chamber. I did not realize they were that close.
well now I really hope Nic ate the leaf off screen in yesterday’s page O_O
I never thought of it before, but what DOES he know about the kidnapped children? I’m hesitant to believe for all his wrongdoing in a twisted sense of doing right by Dreamland that he was knowingly aiding in this kind of cruelty.
In the last panel, based on the angle of motion, she could be jumping -past- Nicodemus to face Gilgamesh, whom she should also be able to see.
After all, it is the Dreamer who has captured the children and was feeding off their nightmares. Nicodemus, for all his misdeeds was, as demonstrated in yesterday’s strip, simply a lackey. Powerful, yes, but still a lackey.
The question is, has she faced Gilgamesh before? I don’t recall her facing either Nicodemus or the Dreamer before directly. She might have faced Nicodemus back in the assault on the city, but I remember Alex doing most of the attacks on the dragon there.
Comics characters are generally “good” at this, I don’t think she would win the competition. Only people capable of higher conclusion jumps that comics characters are … comics readers.
Not likely. The Dreamer was not a title they’d heard before, so Gil isn’t someone who has faced Nastajia’s blade and survived. She’s definitely going after Nic here. :/
It also makes sense for the chambers to be that close, since those kids are like a bunch of battery packs for him, so it makes sense that the power source is as close to the tank as possible.
Nic at least knew and condoned the pirates kidnapping of the children. There was a treaty, with one of the references being this page (which I found while finding the page where Nastajia stabs Nicodemus and thinks she killed him): http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/comic/page-1345/
I kind of assume that Nicodemus knew that the kids were suffering, but didn’t want to know more than he had to know. He also developed an intense hatred for all humans, thinking that they might destroy Dreamland. This only intensified after a human child gave him a scar with the Sword of Kings. As such, he might have seen the pirates kidnapping the children as a benefit to Dreamland, as it reduced the polluting of the minds of the citizens of Dreamland.
Since the Nightmare beasts prolonged his life, though were unable to cure his mortal wound, he might also have received the benefit of the life draining, though possibly without knowing the source of its power.
Based on MightyClerc’s post above, it does seem likely that Nicodemus is the target, but I’m not sure how much damage she can do with a cutlass and a common hammer.
On a side note, if there was ever a live-action version of this story, whoever they casted for Nastajia would have to be ripped. She’s wielding a warhammer with a head the size of her upper torso as if it was nothing and she does not have any Mjolnir-hefting mojo going on here, she’s just a normal elf who has worked hard to attain strength and martial skill. Couple that with her bow draw? Girl is going to be “Princess Fitness” and put Xena and Red Sonja to shame.
Abbadon throws Nicodemus through the wall and first thing Nas thinks about is Nic is responsible. Rrr…right.
– maybe it’s problem of storytelling, because in the last panel of previous page, the wall is already collapsed and Nas must have heard what Abbadon is saying…
Conclusions (my new name for Nicodemus since Nastajia is jumping to him) must have eaten the leaf since he’s looking much more aware in the last panel than the second.
SO MUCH CONCLUSION JUMPING
One word: Wow.
despite the seriousness of the moment, this is quite funny.
“I’m nearly dead, woman! leave me be!”
Should Alex try and hold her back,or will it take the others to prevent her from killing Nicodemus?

“Hail, hail, the gang’s all here!”
The chamber with the children was RIGHT NEXT DOOR?? Woo.
Nas is not thinking. Something punched Nic through that wall. She should find out what before shishkabobing him.

Literally jumping to a conclusion.
Perhaps we are the ones jumping to conclusions.

And this is when Nastajia’s parents speak up…and she has a Moment. 🙂
And Alex says, “Oh, yeah, I found your parents. Didn’t I mention that?”
Except Felicity and Nicole.
Hurry Nicole.
Lordy. Never thought I’d say this but……poor Nicodemus!
This would be the page you are looking for (with the one after it showing it to be her):

Nic’s expression in the last frame does seem to indicate he’s the target of her comment, but it’ll be interesting to see if someone intervenes.
And possibly relevant to that, given that the wall is broken now, there could be a whole host of surprised individuals very shortly. =)
Need a LOT more votes peeps. We are actually going down the ratings – number 55 now 🙁
Those shoulder pads aren’t just for show, she must need them to cover her massive shoulder muscles…

Thanks for the links. It’s amazing he survived that encounter.
I agree it does make sense for the chamber to be close.
