I’ve been asking that myself for a while now. How often has there been a page with a panel, or several, or the whole page, that leaves you worried and concerned for the fate of the characters, and Scott’s only comment is “Happy ___day!” My guess is he’s sadistic; putting his characters into peril, knowing that in the long run they’ll make it out okay (at least I hope so), and loves watching us readers freak out.
Not the best idea, I think, considering that his rib cage must have been crashed flat by the shock wave. Let’s hope the scabbard’s magic can do some very serious surgery. I’m highly dubious anyone on board has a black helmet, a black breathing mask, and a black portable life support system. Or a medical droid to attach them the right way, for that matter.
That would probably keep him from breathing. 😛
I find the whole idea of holding a rock person’s foot to reach someone out of the water, and a rock person listening for breathing with his whole huge head on the person’s chest hilarious.
The Dwarven King is really really strong!
I suspect it is now time for medical attention by our favorite centaur.
“He’s not breathing.” … “Happy Wednesday!”
Something seems slightly off here…
Melancholic Wednesday?

Somebody give the foolish boy mouth to mouth! *attempts to leap through the screen to do it herself* Ouch!
I’m sure he’s only Mostly Dead
Throwing the ship’s anchor chain around Paddington’s foot would have been a much, much more believable way of getting him to the water.

For him to survive it will take a miracle…
Also a lot slower. When in haste, go with the most direct route.
I’m still waiting for the real purpose of the scabbard…
But Paddington doesn’t have any ears? The hell does he know if he’s breathing or not?
I would assume “cheek against chest to feel if it’s rising or not”.
Looks like Nastajia will really be heartbroken if she learns of this…!
Or am I missing something?!?!?
All that advanced life support technology, and I never understood why they do something about the noise.
Exactly! I was thinking from earlier reads that he was a healer.
A dangling Paddington really shouldn’t be so humorous.
“This is supposed to be a serious moment, Bri!”
Paddington can hear people talk just fine, why wouldn’t he be able to hear breathing?
Hopefully Orion will be able to recognize this isn’t Alex’s dream form :\
Must admit, saw the first panel and laughed out loud.
Nooooo Alex, be only mostly dead!
Have fun storming the castle!
Because it sounded like the Dark Side, I guess. Never underestimate the power of background noises.
CPR!! Do they know how to do CPR in Dreamland? Or is it just another part of the dream?
I wouldn’t give up on Alex just yet. The Centaur is a healer and by legend, the scabbard Alex is wearing has healing magic.
Yeah. Just wait until Daniel finds out where his brother’s actual body is.
“Bring out your dead!”
“I’m not dead!”
That would probably keep him from breathing. 😛

Daaaamn. Well, the kid took a beating for his rash actions. Poor thing!
I be agreeing with you, that Dwarven King must be hella strong to hold up Paddington O.o
I think it’s safe to say the remainder of Orion’s sentence would be his realization that this is Alex’s true body.
Alex needs a refund, I mean Excalibur’s scabbard kept Shiro Emiya alive from a lot worse in Fate / Stay Night.
The giant magical rock person, who is standing on a flying ship, with dwarves and faeries, and NOW you think of the logic of him not having ears?!
Sorry Maeverin. Meant to reply to the original post, not to yours.
I was thinking the same thing!
This is surprising? This is the same guy that knocked Nicodemus *through walls*. Plural. Solid stone walls. With one hand on his hammer.
I though the noise was deliberate, for intimidation factor.
Heal him with a chestnut and bellows?
