Before they discuss that, shouldn’t they make sure the Nightmare beast is dead (or at least far away). I’d hate for them to discuss their plans, and have the beast’s unconscious ears hear, and have Abaddon know their plans as a result.
Dan’s already used disinformation once. Worked just fine.
Still, there’s a question of what kind of communication Abbadon uses to pass knowledge and commands from Wakeworld to Dreamland and back. The attack came mere seconds after the threat. Messenger Wraiths? Hive mind?
And anyway, I’d probably use a rope to make sure nobody’s gonna have to break another lamp.
Mom may not mind the lamp, but no matter what they do with the beast – leave, kill, bind – that’s gonna be awkward.
Speaking of riddles – why does Dan restrict his application of “mind power” in Dreamland? As I understand, he’s as powerful as he believes himself to be.
With his preparation, analysis and, well, awareness of physics, etc, AND understanding that they’re rather optional, he’s done no more than what we’ve seen?
Dreamer-containing-Abaddon can sustainin life of dying creatures. Why not try healing Nic?
Dreamer is not a Dreamland entity, and is thus the only part of Abaddon that Dan has no control over – the rest, I think, is like the use of The Force – the limitations are all in your mind.
As a part of Abaddon, Dreamer, despite millenia of experience, has displayed little that Dan should fear. Perhaps he’s spread himself too thin? Or is weaker while sleeping in Dreamland? Or is just the threat some fear?
Either way, I think Abaddon IS actually vulnerable to Dan, who could perhaps try to disrupt whatever binds thr hosts – it could be expected to yield at least *some* benefit.
re: rope: And then mom comes in. “Uh… okay. I count at least three… is that a guy? Four… kinks there. Good for you, sweetie, but please lock your door next time.”
The Abaddon (Abaddons?) that Oberon and Titania killed when they rescued Dan and Nicole before: Did their bodies fade away after they died, or are there a whole bunch of monster corpses around the Pond? If the former, then that Wolfie here is still here suggests Nicole didn’t swing hard enough.
There IS also the worry there might be more creatures in the house, ready to pounce…
And shouldn’t Nicolre be a mite upset? She DID just bash the skull of a living thing, even if a monster who was trying to kill her boyfriend. Although she might be tougher than that.
“… but what I did see was AWESOME! I was like a GOD to them! They cowered in fear! Even that dopey dragon Alex made such a stink about was afraid of me! Muhuhahaha! MUHUHAHAHAHA!”
“You’re doing the super-villain laugh. And steepling your fingers like Mr. Burns.”
“Soon! Soon all of humanities dreams and nightmares shall be mine to comm— what? Oh, sorry. Got carried away with PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER! MUHUHAHAHA! Suck it, Alex!”
Now you’ve done it. You got me thinking. Calamity is sure to follow.
The Gates were built with the intention of changing people in the waking world. If Dan put his mind to the same task… with the help of his girlfriend, too…
Many scenarios lead to apotheosis. Dreamland has an influence on young minds. There exist multiple other methods of interaction between the worlds. If he could get the faith thing to work in ours…

When a Nerd is in doubt, the first thing he does is to boot up his laptop. Of course, if the beast wakes up he can always hit it with the laptop!

Is he perhaps not as clever as he thinks?
nah. the beast is a footrest.
Does this riddle have anything to do with the Dreamer/Abbadon?
So if a Jock is doubt, what’s the first thing he’s going to do?

Jump in a lake?
and also, there’s this giant unconscious monster that just tried to choke me to death. Maybe we should talk about that too.
See there’s there’s this new Maguffin, a powerful Ring, and I have to win it from a deformed river dweller in a battle of riddles.

Good one! 🙂
“Not to mention, I only got to see the Nightmare Realm!”
