So Alex is the unintentional hero as usual… Saved the mermaid and caused destruction of a horde of NR creatures.
The only thing to worry about now is what will happen to Daniel and whether he won’t become the antagonist on short order.
What’s wrong with his left arm, anyway? I thought he was probably holding the sword, but here he most apparently doesn’t. Playing Flying Superman under water is pretty tiresome and pointless, especially when trying to swim as fast as possible away from a collapsing magical portal.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from reading science fiction, it’s that collapsing or damaging an interdimensional portal is the fastest way to create an unstable rupture in the fabric of space-time through which unspeakable hellspawn and demons from Beyond can terrorize the Earth.
Hope not. Water is a harsh mistress when it comes to shock waves. I’ve only experienced a pile being driven into the bottom some 300 feet away and it was one of my worst experiences ever. An explosion of such proportions would bring up a very very dead body. Let’s hope it was only light. Lethal to the Nightmare creatures if the plot depends on it, of course.
Then, he’d probably swim the way all people do when fully submerged. Takes but one stroke to figure it out. (Or typing “swimming underwater” in YouTube search and watching for about 10 seconds. Hint. Hint.)
Wow! Think of the tremendous power it would take to generate a portal between dimensions, and then the backlash of said power as said portal collapses! Okay… I am completely geeked out right now.
Oh they think Alex died? I wonder what it does to the nightmare realm creatures, is it killing them, or are they able to get through the portal?
Scot, I’m wondering, how long is it to swim from the portal to the surface? My guess is Alex can hold breath 3 to 5 minutes
Big bada boom!
It’s definitely killing them. You can clearly see skeletons in panel three. Now all we need to worry about is Alex making it to the surface.
+1 for the 5th Element reference.

Like I said earlier,if Alex is trapped in Dreamland,at least Nastajia will be there with him…!
haha, I read the last panel as the king shouting in Dad-mode
ALEXANDER CARTER WHAT HAVE YOU DONE YOUNG MAN
He tied the sword to his waist so his hands would be free
So glad it isn’t Friday, ’cause tomorrow we get to see the after-effects.
It’s never a good day when things go “boom”.
Super Green!
Alex isn’t any relation to Randolph Carter by any chance is he?

Well done, Alex.
Unless we scene-change back to Dan or the airship in Dreamland.
😀
I dunno. I have plenty of friends who think “boom-days” are the best days. 😛
You have to wonder what kind of shockwave that would create…and if it would knock Alex out or just force him the rest of the way to the surface.

His move was very deliberate; I wouldn’t call him unintentional.
