Not this time… he physically entered dreamland with his body, he is just an ordinary guy.
The “superpowers” came from dreaming to enter Dreamland and projecting his mind in a kind of lucid dream.
As I said yesterday, he is in for a very> rough ride.
It wasn’t meant for the passage of entire humans. It wouldn’t surprise me to see it either fail permanently closed or fail permanently open. My money is on the first option.
At a guess, because he’s not their target. The Sibu Issahir Amelu is. It’s on the other side of the portal. And if the portal is about to cease to exist, they only have seconds to try to get through.
Besides, where is he going to go? He’s deep underwater. If he doesn’t drown, he’ll be easy to hunt down and finish later.
Problem is (ONE of the problems) that now that Alex is in Dreamland in a human and therefore vulnerable body, Abaddon will have the perfect blackmail weapon to use against Dan (“Niccccce brother you have there…. would be a pity if OUR CLAWS COULD REALLY HURT HIM”). But since Alex has always used his body more than his brain, he may be better suited to get around there now. Unless they kill him, of course.
I sure hope Alex learns at some point that his hopes and desires are not all that matters in this world. For all he knew, pulling Niviene through that portal could’ve killed her. He just doesn’t seem to care about other people. I know it will all come right in the end, but I just hope he matures at least a little.
It occurs to me that for the first time Dan and Alex are both in Dreamland at the same time. The Sword of Kings might sense this and let Dan know. Also, the merfolk can hardly miss a huge wave of nightmare creatures diving into their ocean and swimming to Nivien’s cave. The ones we see above are just the first of them arriving.
What has the human done? I again stayed up too late to check the page first thing and I’m really feeling the effects. He’s in Dreamland (for better or for worse considering the state of the portal) so I won’t have to strangle him for being stupid. Dan, Nastajia, or others will do that for me.
Is it sick of me that I still kind of hope Nastajia sees Dan first, is convinced Alex is gone from this world, and later on meets with Alex, making the reunion all that sweeter?
I think it’s based on the logical assumption that a dreamer only has those abilities because only their mind is there, so they don’t have a physical body to be constrained by laws of physics. Sorta like how people (most notably Neo) in the Matrix can do much more than what their physical bodies can do in “the real world.” So now that Alex is using his physical body, regardless of where he is, we assume that he’ll now be governed by the law of physics.
Although no one said the laws of physics in Dreamland is the same as on Earth…. maybe turns out “water” in Dreamland is breathable by normal humans. Our dream selves just made the assumption that we would drown and, in the same way that believing we could fly makes us fly in Dreamland, believing we’d drown would make us drown in dreamland… Then when your physical body is there, your body just can’t drown from that fake water…. Am I making sense to anybody? Anyone? Sorry, I’ll shut up now ^^;;
Actually, he might be alright. Yes he is now physically in dreamland with his all to vulnerable earthly body, but he brought both Excalibur AND it’s Scabbard. The scabbard was said to protect Arthur as long as he wore it. Both Excalibur and the scabbard were stolen by Morgan la Fey before the battle of Camlann. Excalibur was recovered in time for the battle but the scabbard was never found, and thus Arthur suffered a mortal wound at the battle. The legends don’t say anything about the scabbard being able to protect the wearer from drowning but Alex might have just managed to pull this one off through shear dumb luck if it does. However he manages to survive the water, Certainly the claws and teeth of Abaddon will be no match for him with both sword and scabbard.
We’ve seen it work on a number of various beings, even a stone giant. The real problem is finding any merfolk to kiss. As we know, this cave is a many hours’ swim away from where they live and is considered a very, very bad neighbourhood. Salami monsters and all that. Nobody comes near.
(Well. A certain mermaid used to live there but Alex has just added her to the Carter Theme Park staff.)
Does seem to care about other people? He fought a war to free the entirety of Dreamland from Nicodemous and from Abbadon. He went into battle to save people time and again. He worked to better himself to be able to be the King he thought they deserved.
And when it really counted, when it came down to it, he passed it to Daniel.
Even Abaddon Knows no good can come of this.
Interesting. He takes the time to tie the sword to his side, but not to make sure he can breath. Last I checked her secret cave was DEEP underwater.
eh, he’s a dreamer. He can breathe underwater if he takes a moment to realize it.
Of course, this IS Alex, and he’s not exactly known for stopping to think.

Will we find out why Alex made thee portal unstable???
Yeah. He’s 100% human now. This is not his “dream self”

Why is Abbadon letting him swim past?
At a guess, because he’s not their target. The Sibu Issahir Amelu is. It’s on the other side of the portal. And if the portal is about to cease to exist, they only have seconds to try to get through.

Well, Alex’ diving style is really strange.
Is he trying to do the superman thing or to crawl foolishly? The later thing is impossible under water…
welp, that possibly answers the question of how will Alex stay in Dreamland to be with Nastajia.
Whoops! that was meant to be it’s own comment, not a reply. Sowwy.
Oh dear. Here’s hoping he runs into some merpeople in a hurry.

How is he swimming so fast underwater? It’s really, REALLY hard to swim with shoes on.
And a heavy sword tied to your waist!

Since it hasn’t happened before so far as I know, where was it said that a non-dreamer in Dreamland doesn’t have the abilities of a dreamer?
Alex’ concern should be that the merpeople’s magic kiss works on a flesh and blood human.

Well, he *is* going *downwards*… so the extra weight is probably an asset as much as a hindrance.
I would assume the Dreamer is there in the flesh. Otherwise his body on Earth would have died long ago. Unless it’s preserved like Merlins’s.
Actually, he might be alright. Yes he is now physically in dreamland with his all to vulnerable earthly body, but he brought both Excalibur AND it’s Scabbard. I was wondering if being together in Dreamland at the same time would do untold damage and cause Dreamland to collapse???
We’ve seen it work on a number of various beings, even a stone giant. The real problem is finding any merfolk to kiss. As we know, this cave is a many hours’ swim away from where they live and is considered a very, very bad neighbourhood. Salami monsters and all that. Nobody comes near.

No, this makes sense. very interesting.

If the scabbard is said to protect whoever wears it, I bet he’s making sure to WEAR the scabbard, rather than merely carry it.
Well, at least he made it impossible for the nightmares to use the portal.
