Foolish boy, foolish me for staying up for the next page when I should be asleep. Did he make it? I hope he made it. I don’t want him to drown but I don’t want to strangle him if he didn’t make it.
I’m betting he passed THROUGH the portal (which was one way) and into the lake and is looking rather surprised at the moment that he is looking at the bottom of the lake…
Niviene’s concern was that since the portal was designed for viewing and not transport, using it for the latter would lead to implosion, explosion, or maybe just plosion. She may be right and it just takes a few seconds for it to hit critical mass.
Come now, Niviene. You know what it’s like to be young and driven and full of hormones. That smooch you laid on Merlin the first time he managed to open the Portal and let you through to Earth, remember?
(She’s still got her fish tail. And her hair is still in ringlets and curls, even above the water and sopping wet. I suspect that’s a spell, though.)
I bet Alex is in Dreamland, and is also in for a very rough ride – underwater, with no air or surface nearby, and surrounded by Abaddon. Not to mention that being physically in Dreamland means he has no special powers…
Alex has to hope that either the sheath keeps him from dying or that outside forces come to his rescue. I suspect a rescue posse of merfolk and those from above who can function underwater, such as the rock folk. It is also possible that Niviene and Oberon will jump through the portal themselves to help, with Niviene first kissing Oberon then kissing Alex as soon as she emerges. Titania needs to take the potted immortality plant to Dan and fill him in.
I suppose there is also the option of Dan hearing Abbadon’s hive mind talking where he is, realizing the problem, and using his mind-fu to teleport to Niviense’s cave, but that is rather too Dan-ex-machina.
Niviene’s reaction is interesting. She’s not reacting as if Alex is going to drown–I think even she would care about that. So I think he’s either going to bounce back out of the lake or he’s going to figure out that he can choose to breathe (being in Dreamland).
The problem is, his *physical body* is now in dreamland, instead of his astral (or whatever) one. He is *not dreaming*. This should be very, very bad for him.
Well, he just did something that could destroy a difficult bit of magic, stranded her on Earth (when she’s low on strength no less), and dove into a water-logged environment where he can’t naturally breathe and won’t have dream-strength to help him…so her angry seeming response seems pretty legit. I mean, even if he was going to drown, she could be angry that he’s wasting his life. And even if he does somehow survive, she’ll definitely be pissed about being stuck in a pond for the duration. 😛

Yeah but a lot of people saw this coming!
He looks surprised when he is under the water.

She would make a great villain though…

And so it ends here 😉
the engraving on the walls behind him suggests to me that he is indeed inside Nivienne’s cave.
Wasn’t the portal supposed to do something violent if you transfer people through it?
I think you’re right, sort of. I think she passed through the portal into his world, but he just wound up in the lake. Oops.
Foolish boy indeed! Niviene should be real furious with Alex by informing her that she’s now stranded on earth, along with the king and queen of elves!
Maybe Alex ISN’T in Dreamland, then again I may be wrong!!!

Yep. Alexander has always been impulsive.

Somebody forgot about the whole “need to breath” thing, and failed to get a special kiss…
Maybe he can breathe if he kisses Abbadon? 😉
*slow clap*
the engravings in the first panel definitely look like Niviene’s side of the portal

Look at the first panel, last page. He DID kiss Niviene.
Maybe Abaddon will stop breathing if he does! 🙂
No, he didn’t. That’s her going by him as he pulls her out.

Oh right, the sheath! It should be able to do that if it follows the Arthurian lore.
Ah, you’re right! I need better glasses. ><
I wonder if the Sword or Sheath can grant water breathing. Both are highly magical, after all.
The problem is, his *physical body* is now in dreamland, instead of his astral (or whatever) one. He is *not dreaming*. This should be very, very bad for him.
Oh shut up Nivienne, no one even likes you.
It’s generally not wise to try and speak for over 7 billion people.
Merlin definitely does, doesn’t he?
Ummm…I adore Niviene. Even requested a commission piece of just her.

Gotta admit, she’s pretty when she’s mad. 😉
