Mercy for the kids, sure. Abaddon, the Dreamer, Nick? Let’s roast them alive for this. I don’t care if Nick is “innocent,” I want to eat barbequed dragon.
Those kids seem asleep…
What is happening to them? Are they being put in a slumber, so they cannot wake up on earth? Or are they dying someway?
It doesn’t look good…
Perhaps just as dreams allow children to visit Dreamland, in order for Abaddon to enter our world, they need the dreams/nightmares of children being held in the nightmare realm.
Sonuvagun, I was right, it IS the kids! But why? And how many millions of them are there?
(This has probably hit Nas especially hard. The Elves consider themselves the protectors of children while they’re in Dreamland, that so many were stolen and are being kept like this…)
Geeeeeeeeeeez…. I knew it was leading somewhere, but man…
I got a big worried expression and my eyes teared up… uh, in a totally manly way of course. 😉
This is pretty messed up… I demand answers to the countless questions in my head. Good for you, Scott and Tracy, for hitting me over the head with feelings.
Alex first ran into the pirates on page 126, when they tried to capture him for the bounty. He was saved by Nastajia. This was the first clue that the pirates were stealing kids.
Then on page 515 the pirates attack Gardenia, where Alex’s cousin Joey is. This is when we learn about their mass kidnapping campaign to capture kids and sell them to the Nightmare Realm. Now we finally see what happened to the captured kids.
Scott, I suggest you post a Table of Contents with links to each chapter page. This would make it a lot easier to move around in the story, now at 1852 pages. I found these by going back to the beginning and skipping 50 pages at a time looking for the pirates.
Thanks everyone, and by the way. I found the answer to my question earlier in the week about why Nastajia couldn’t simply fly out of wherever that is that she fell. Kiwi explains to Alex that only with a dreamer can most dreamlanders fly on pages 486 and 487.
Or bring back the old feature of clicking on “Chapter X” would bring up the whole chapter as thumbnails, letting the reader visually browse the pages until they found what they were looking for.
This last chapter I expect to be like explosive diarrhea for Scott. One reveal after another. And it’s just not gonna stop until we see the movie “Animal Crackers.”
Yes, the movie is not part of the book, but when this story ends, we’ll be dying for more, and THAT’S where we get more… “Animal Crackers.”
Now this…. THIS is evil.
That image made me say some words that are not appropriate for this comic. This page is powerful…and sad. Those poor children.
ooh she found the matrix

Having nightmares on earth? I cannot remembe if there was ever a reason given why they were kidnapping the kids?
This scene makes me glad the comic is being hand-drawn now. Seeing this rendered in 3D would look even more creepy.
oooo… forgot about the stolen kids…
Yeah, completely, although extended delays will do that. Still, I wouldn’t have seen that coming even without an interruption.
That…. was unexpected….
O.O I didn’t expect THAT.
Maybe that’s the place where Nightmare is powered…? :0
Whelp. I have nasty nightmare fuel for a good long while now.
whaaaat……..

Oh, this can’t be good.

After such a long lag in the story, Scott needs to chime in and tell us where we can go back and refresh our memory as to who these children are!
Oh. I wish I knew where to go back to look this up. Even I don’t remember.
🙂
BUT. Yes. I did mention that children are kidnapped in Dreamland and taken to the Nightmare Realm (Pirates are the henchmen for that).
This is where they are taken to.
I’ll explain why later…
I don’t remember about the kids being stolen BUT YOU GUYS THERE’S AN ITTY BITTY BABY DDD:
This story took a very sharp turn for the macabre.
It`s in one of the first chapters, where Joey, Alex’ and Dan`s nephew is almost kidnapped by the pirates I think.
Oh no! Are these kids having permanent nightmares!? That looks horrible!
Yikes! I was not expecting that. o_o
Are those kids the source of power for the Dreamer or the Nightmare Realm or both???
Geeeeeeeeeeez…. I knew it was leading somewhere, but man…

Thanks! now we can look it up 🙂
Chapter 9 has the kids getting kidnapped. http://thedreamlandchronicles.com/comic/page-517/
You are welcome.

The ToC would fit on the left side, under the flags.

Woah. Things just got serious.
You have been sitting on so much story/plot reveals for so long. I don’t know how you didn’t explode from all the anticipation. I probably would have.
It wasn’t easy. Still isn’t as I still have another couple hundred pages to go…
NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE

Do you know where he’s been?
toddler it seems
You had to ask, Nast. You just had to bloody ask! What horrors, indeed.
Good call, eee. Like so many of us, I had forgotten about the kidnapped kids until you mentioned them on the previous page.
DARK.
That got grim quickly.
