UAHAHAHAHA ! Nicodemus is definitely a badass ! (No real badass can go away without a terrific joke … and his expression in panel 4 is simply irresistible. Great Work Tracy)
Not until after Dan has defeated the Dreamer and stopped Abaddon from taking over Dreamland. That’s his focus, after all. Until he can resume his dictatorship of Dreamland, he’ll endure Daniel as a necessary evil. To be removed the moment he’s NOT necessary.
Just one problem with this. Nicodemus needs Dan’s help to save Dreamland and probably himself as well which is the whole reason he lifted the spell keeping Dan out. It’s in his best interests to make sure that Dan doesn’t die until Abaddon is defeated. Out of self-preservation, he probably should have warned Dan
Logically there should be a way to ‘depose’ a King or Queen of Dreamland who goes mad, becomes power hungry, or – like Arthur – starts doing dangerous things. Nic knows the magic the underlies Dreamland, he may be able to make such a change if he wants. He didn’t do that with Arthur because he needed Arthur alive but in a coma to block any other human from assuming rulership of Dreamland so he could rule, himself, with the Nightmare Realm’s backing. There’s no such barrier to getting rid of Dan…
The question is, what prevents Dan from beheading the lizard.
I, for one, don’t see one single reason to keep the thing alive. Probably Dan does, but it’s got to be one more of his True King super powers that so far haven’t done Dreamland any good at all.
We have to realize Nic has willingly worked under a human king before. I think he’s not so much against human kings as he is incompetent human kings. Dan is likely building Nic’s respect with every step they take toward their goal.
Here’s a thought: Nicodemus dropped earlier that he is mortally wounded. He knows that unless he can get healed, Dreamland would be without a King. Unorganized, it might fall to enemies. So it could be he’s testing to see if Dan qualifies. When Nic believes he’s found a suitable replacement for himself, likely he’ll get behind Dan 100% until his own wounds overcome him. He’s a scoundrel to be sure… but with a good motive: to protect Dreamland.
There are good reasons Dan keeps Nicodemus around.
* He’s a dragon. Dan already admitted being impressed by that. They’re rare. Very rare.
* Nic has intricate knowledge of Dreamland– experience and wisdom that Dan needs.
* Dan isn’t a killer. If he was, a whole lot of Asmodeus would be missing at this point. Dan is interested in peace, not more bloodshed.
* Nic has been fairly respectful to Dan. They have the same goal: to save Dreamland without destroying the Nightmare world in the process.
* Despite his faults Nicodemus does love Dreamland. His past actions are inexcusable… but maybe Dan sees potential for redemption. If he can turn Nic back around to the path of good then hey… good dragon. Pretty useful thing to have around.
there have been bad kings for dreamland we don’t hear much about the time they ruled in dreamland but they were people like Julius Caesar and other warlords of our world.
Nick moved because he can still get hurt, not warning Dan due to ‘curiosity’ is a bit misplaced since he saw Dan withstand a mob attack, and change his clothes willingly and also was present when Dan said about having training his dream self for hours and knowing none of them can hurt him.
So, they are throwing stuff on him…. FOR SCIENCE!!!

How long before Nicodemus reveals his true colors and banishes Dan from Dreamland?
After he just unbanished him?
“He was the kind of man that people would follow into battle, just to see what would happen…”

Abaddon: “Run away!” “Flee!” “Let’s get a bigger statue!”
It’s possible he can’t. He no longer has Arthur for blocking …
YUSS
a good question for Nicodemus to ask would have been WHY should he have warned him? *tell me your weaknessessssss*

Dragon. Draaagon. Not lizard. He doesn’t do that tongue thing. *flicks tongue*
Wait, were Nic’s wings always partially transparent?

Not Asmodeus… Abaddon. I get my cliche evil character names confused.
Yes, they were always translucent. See page 24 at http://www.thedreamlandchronicles.com/comic/page-24 for the first good look at his wings.
Yep.
Yes! and Tracy is doing so a great job, that i forgot how it was before!thanks Scott, that you have found her.

Still, it would be polite to advise him of the gravity of the situation.
