I seem to remember him saying something about “Impervious to attacks”
So with that in mind wouldn’t the gargoyle just break into pieces over Dan?
Just a bit curious on that one.
It may be that he’s made himself impervious to physical harm, but that doesn’t change his mass, his leverage or the durability of the road beneath him. Both have an effect on whether he’d be moved by that.
You probably imagined it as an indestructible metal spike sticking out of the ground that can’t be budged. He’s more like that same indestructable spike, only it’s just kind of standing on up by balance more then anything else. Rock falls and it knocks it over because there’s nothing holding the spike as it stands, and he’s not increasing his relative mass to compensate and make him harder to move.
He is super strong, true, but that is where the ground beneath comes into play. Your footing is only ever as strong as the footing on the ground. It’s why a lot of super strength characters tend to have flight, so their footing can be determined by the strength of their power rather then the muuuuch flimsier earth they’re standing on. (Relatively flimsier at least.)
In the end it’d take a lot of mass or leverage on his part and ground at least sturdy enough to withstand the force of that gargoyle falling down too have it split on his head without budging him.
Dan, don’t be absurd. Of COURSE they’re going to keep trying to kill you, you’re a tremendous threat! What you wanted to say was, “Will you please stop being so INEPT at trying to kill me?!”
He shouldn’t give them the satisfaction of being annoyed. He should instead act like he finds it funny. Don’t go “cut it out” and “please stop”, but “lol” and “nice try” and “hey, it nearly tickled this time”.
Or even go full reverse psychology and roleplay as a big weirdo who’s getting off of it. “Yes, yes, more arrows! a bigger statue now! I’m nearly there!” that should embarrass the nightmare beasties into stopping, out of sheer awkwardness.
I think mental preparation is a big part of it. The bites had no effect because he kept in mind that they weren’t like non-dream creature bites, but the falling gargoyle took him by surprise.
he still wasn’t hurt in it, it only took him by surprise cause he didn’t think they’d keep trying to kill him after the mass mauling him failed. Lol he also only studied so hard and trained his dream self because Nick took power had Nick been like “Arthur died, next king please” Dan wouldn’t be nearly as badass as he is now x3
I agree with the laughing it off part trying to get them to stop cause that would be funny. Haha but the ‘weirdo who’s getting off to it’ part couldn’t be part of it because DreamLand Chronicles was created as a PG/family comic (Scott even said he has intentions to make it a movie one day) and will stay as such because Scott’s twins are also helping him with it. Also the term for enjoying pain (most often in a sexual way) is masochist. That brings me to something else the Abbadon seem to enjoy causing pain or fright to others making them sadistic so they would just try hurting him more if he kept saying ‘oh yes more arrows’ kind of stuff. They seem to have ability to think about things so maybe they would back off but who knows lol.
I just checked back on the Dreamland Chronicles after a very long time, just to see… and am very pleased to see its return. Unable to control myself, I swallowed down the whole update in one morning. Yum.
The new format is different and entertaining. Artwork is excellent. I do miss the original 3D, but this artwork is a fine replacement. My congratulations and thanks on returning this excellent graphic novel to the web… and best wishes with its future development.
I do enjoy the turn both Dan and Nic have taken. I find myself actually liking the dragon, discovering his arrogance and meanness wasn’t self-realized. Now that he perhaps he is understanding there were different methods, his manners will be better finished by newfound respect for a Dreamland King who knows what he’s doing.
I do believe I know who The Dreamer is, but shall not reveal lest spoilers. The storyline rawks. Keep on with this fine tale.
The likely candidate for the Dreamer is Arthur, whose soul was trapped in Dreamland for centuries, but Scott could have chosen another candidate from the past.
That’s one MAD king right there 🙂
And to get his point across, how about Daniel fling the statue back at the rooftop demons like an airborne bowling ball?
First time poster here, long time reader.

I love his reaction in that last panel by the way.

I love how nonchalantly Nick moved to the side in the last strip and now just sits there, eating popcorn.

I hope those nightmare beasts get the message or try something different…?
what? they’re just playing, jeez.
Well, Nicodemus is finding it funny.
Ah, that makes alot of sense actually.

Always something to be Lear-y of.

Yep, he’s pissed now.

“Enough is enough! I have HAD it with these mutha-lovin’ Abbadon in this mutha-lovin’ Dreamland!”
Seriously. It’s so annoying when other keep trying to kill you. Ugh.
Yet he still has the decency to say “please”.
You win the internets.
I mean, really?
The likely candidate for the Dreamer is Arthur, whose soul was trapped in Dreamland for centuries, but Scott could have chosen another candidate from the past.
Dan does have a point, because he realizes, he can’t die in Dreamland unless he WANTS to, and that’s totally not happening.
I absolutely love Nicodemus’s total lack of f***s over this.
I prefer he said “DAN SMASH!!” 😀
I love the last panel, it made me laugh and I love Dan’s expression. Well done.
Am I the only one that wanted to see Dan raise signs of exclaimation (actual signs a la Wile E Coyote) as the the statue was falling on him?
Arthur got trapped in Limbo between worlds because the Nightmare realm tricked Nick into believing that Arthur was doing wrong for Dreamland.
and then the wraiths also killed the centaur shaman and tried to kill Merlin also, hence making Arthur stuck between worlds.
They’re trying to make him the fall guy?
And he’s polite about it!
Maybe he’s trying to Ham-let it up.
