Page 1724…
Dan’s little question to himself is thanks to one of your comments. I HONESTLY hadn’t thought that this would be a shock to them.
So thank you for bringing it up.
In a little more than a week… I will be a guest at
I hope to see some of you there!
Please come visit!
Scott
Well… let’s hope the True King’s super powers would work as advertised.
And now I’m waiting for it to hit Alexander that Nastajia’s parents are alive AND standing there in his living room. Somehow.
Oh he already knew. 🙂 Remember a while back when they told him that he needed to give the Sword of Kings to Daniel who is the rightful heir? And Alex asked them to give him a chance to prove he deserved to be in Dreamland because he loved their daughter? And Oberon made him swear he’d get Nastajia out of the Nightmare Realm immediately after he went to sleep and then they’d discuss things? 🙂
It’s been a while, so sometimes it’s hard to keep all of the pieces of the story straight. That’s why I occasionally will go back and do a full read through from the beginning. It’s interesting to see what little important pieces of information I end up finding that I’d previously forgotten. 🙂
Yay for reader input making the story better! 😀
I’m sooo very interested in where things will go from here. 🙂 Well done Scott! You’ve made a fascinating story even more gripping somehow.
Also, is it bad that I heard Oberon say, “Where is she?” in Christian Bale’s Batman voice? Because I did.
It’s not so much about him knowing, but more about him realising the implications that if Nastajia’s parents are with him in the waking world. Could they have a different method for him to go to dreamland?
Possibility: The queen fainted.
Dan: “But if he is alive, then…” He sees the queen “He? Ehhh, guys, the queen…..?”
She really looks like ‘Oh my goodness, i’m gonna faint! My daughter is in danger!”
Also possible:
Daniel: “Well, i’m gonna sleep, and Alex, take a plane to Egypt!”
Alex: “But what will Mommy say about it?”
Nicole: “She was already in shock because of the elves, so don’t worry”
Yeah… I was wondering, myself, how they would manage to keep the Elves’ existence a secret from their parents… especially with the Elves sleeping in the living room…
Did their parents go away for the weekend, or something?
I thought Dan told their parents about Dreamland and everything else.
I saw Dan’s comment and I thought ahhhh yeah where have you been?
I didn’t think anyone would be surprised either.
yeah, i kinda did too. I imagined Oberon bursting in with a very intimidating “WHERE IS SHE?”
Were the King and Queen not sleeping? Doors the King sleep in his armor?
Alex should explain that Nicodemus “rebooted” everything and he can’t go back to the Nightmare Realm and Nastajia is as good as dead! (Prompting harsh stares from those assembled.)
I got a feeling that some fan artist should do a rendering of that infamous cover of DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths #7(remember that one?)
A sobbing Alexander in his Dreamland armor holding a dead Nastajia…
I think Alex knows about the portal.
Well, Alex did scream himself awake. I think that would wake the neighbors, not to mention anyone in the house. 🙂 as for the King’s armor, it costs a lot of $$ and time to create and render new clothes for the characters, so I believe Scott is just leaving them as is.
You don’t have much faith in Nastajia, do you?
Scott, way back when they defeated Nicodemus, i remember wondering where you would take the story after that…what possible obstacle could be bigger than Nicodemus for our heros to overcome. Never did I imagine this fantastic plot twist with the sword being switched. I have no idea how they will overcome and I can’t wait for the story to unfold. You’re an amazing writer! Well done. 🙂
🙂
Thank you Nicole!
I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.
Thanks Julie!
Oh I have faith, but her reaction to seeing Dan,instead of Alex! 🙂 😉
Haha, seems like Staj’s parents aren’t too thrilled about this True King business now that their daughter is in danger.
It’s going to be a heck of a shock!
Nope, not at all!
Don’t forget, they’re a step behind here. They came in AFTER the part where Alex explained that Nic had transferred the Sword to Dan. We’ll have to see, next update, how they feel about things now.
Hey, Daniel. Don’t you think it’s past your bedtime now?
How much you want to bet that when Dan catches up with Nastajia in Dreamland that she’s doing just fine on her own, with a trail of bodies behind her?
*Happy contributor* 😀
My money was not on if Nic would come back, it was on that when he came back, he would have been some undead draco-lich fueled by all the power of the nightmare realm. That he would be also possessed by Abaddon and try to fight against the possession, thus giving Alex the moment of weakness to defeat both Nic and the nightmare realm once and for all.
Should something like this happen to me, I’d probably be unable to sleep for a couple of days. Medic!
But did their parents believe in Dreamland? Or do they think its al just a big fantasy game they’re playing?
(didn’t Alex tell their mother about Dreamland – when she gave him his favorite food? She asked him what happend that Dan and Nicole are in love, or am I wrong?)
I think they explained it a little, but the question is: Do their parents believe the story, or do they think it is al just a fantasy of grown up children?
It might be possible:
If the king puts of his armor, it might be thieft in ‘our’ world. And he is in this world for a while, maybe he is already used to sleeping in his armor?
Maybe Dreamlanders don’t naturally sleep? The only one I recall we’ve ever seen sleeping is Felicity, when she was out cold after being hit by Nicodemus.
Alex, with that attitude, you will NEVER EVER go to Dreamland again. Was Orion’s training for nothing? It never said Adults were banned from Dreamland, it’s stated that when they grow up they lose that sense of childlike wonder, which in effect causes them not to believe in Fairies, elves Dragons etc. That’s what bars adults from Dreamland. You may not have the sword, but your Talisman (Nastajia) that allows you to tap into your Dreamland abilities is in Dreamland, so technically Alex should be able to still access Dreamland, but that’s just me.
According to Nicodemus, adults are barred from Dreamland not because they can’t believe enough to get there, but because Dreamlanders aren’t allowing it. In order to appease the Nightmare Realm and other races of Dreamland, only one adult is permitted to enter Dreamland. It’s probable that whatever magic created the Sword of Kings was also capable of creating and enforcing this magical rule that keeps adults out. Only the Native Americans–and through their tutelage, Merlin–have been able to somehow breach this barrier through dream-quests.
Still I’m sure someone here will remember that Crisis on Infinite Earths cover I mentioned… 😉
Is it just me, or does the shadow in the last panel look like a head facing to the left?
See, this is why I always wait to read strips in chunks instead of one at a time as they are released. It’s easy to forget important details like that when you have to wait a week between strips…
