I think Nic is not alive. I think it is all a nightmare, that Alex is taking in, because of he believes it. And the sword is not gone, he believes its gone because he believes in the nightmare.
Well, I guess everybody’s going to be happy-happy now that the True King has been restored upon his throne. Never mind the invasion, no one’s gonna notice much difference. Actually, some folks may start to feel better when told it’s officially a nightmare they live in. Does it cheer you up, bro? I thought it wouldn’t. Well, at least I’ve tried… 🙁
Alex is handling this better than I expected. I feared he’d try to get the necklace from Dan before realizing physical possession of it meant nothing. But being almost King appears to have actually made him wiser. If still a bit thick.
I wonder what they’re going to do next. If they could get Alex to Egypt and through the Portal, with Excalibur, before Dan has to sleep…
Ahem, “As king of Dreamland, I do hereby name you my champion. go, and wield Excalibur in my name!”
I don’t get why things are so bleak when there’s such a simple workaround. and then there’s the portal, so the tensions been pretty undercut on the whole “never go to dreamland again.” schtick.
The only problem with that theory is that Daniel is now wearing the Sword of Kings…which we saw happen before Alex woke up…so we know that the Sword had officially changed hands. 🙁
Unless you’re suggesting that this is still a dream/nightmare…in which case I hope you’re wrong, because that would be adding an unnecessary layer of confusion in a story that is intended to be read and enjoyed by audiences as young at 7 (or potentially younger I suppose).
Yeah I was thinking about that… It seems like the portal is the great answer to our problems, but it’s in Egypt!
Getting our heroes there will be interesting…not to mention a possible layover in France to see about the tree that Merlin is supposed to be encased in (since it’s just his “dream” self that the Seraphopolians, or whatever they call themselves, are guarding)…it’s just a bit hard to figure out how they will make this all work.
I’m trying not to feel defeated yet (since I have a lot of faith in Dan’s brilliance), but this will be tricky.
Alright…time for Dan to exercise that wonderful mind of his and come up with a plan to address all of the different layers of concern here. I hope… o_O
Any explaining Alex will do will always come back to him not being able to stop Nic from doing this. There really wasn’t much Alex could have done to stop him from casting the spell, right? If the king and queen don’t understand why Alex couldn’t stop him, then it sure ain’t Alex’s fault…
There’s no way this is all some nightmare. That would be a convoluted cop-out. As its been constantly mentioned in the past, Alex doesn’t belong in Dreamland by right of blood, and now that has been fulfilled. (I hate you, Nick) This is just a game-changing plot twist.
The king and queen probably got here via some portal, and for some reason they can’t just jump back in and take it back to Dreamland. My guess is, at some point in the future, the portal will be fixed, and Alex will follow them back to Dreamland and give up his life on earth.
And there’s the problem the Nightmare Realm creatures are apparently about to start coming THOUGH that Portal to invade Earth. Alex (and Oberon and Titania) would have to get through to Dreamland before the invasion started or fight their way in through the hordes coming out, then destroy the Portal from the Dreamland side, THEN fight clear of the invasion forces that hadn’t gone through yet!
If he’d realized what Nic was doing in time he might had managed to gut him or slash off an arm. But the only experience Alex has with magical spells being cast – aside from the mer-kiss – is from watching Niviene, and I think she uses a different system. I believe he simply didn’t know what was happening until too late.
Dan:” Wait, what – Nicodemus is ALIVE?!”
(El premio – 1st!)
Just as the parents enter…

Its all but a dream…

It sounds like troubles are incoming… 😛
Ooh, dad’s not going to be happy.

Whooo hoooo! Funny how the King & Queen just happened to be walking by … lol.
Really enjoying the plot twists!

I guess the Elven royals have never heard of knocking.
Aleeeexxxx, you got some ‘splainin’ to do……
Yeah, my thoughts exactly. “Simple, there’s a portal.” I suppose they will need some kind of strategy though.
LOL !!! 🙂

The portal’s in Egypt though…not exactly as simple as Dan waving his hands and making Alex able to reappear in Dreamland. 🙁
Alright…time for Dan to exercise that wonderful mind of his and come up with a plan to address all of the different layers of concern here. I hope… o_O
Now then with the king and queen of elves just walking in, how would Alex tell them of their daughter’s fate?
“Nicodemus told me that she…she’s dead!” Queen Titania breaks down sobbing!
If Nastajia is indeed dead, the king and queen would commission a statue of her with Alex erected in the plaza of Ashendel.
OK at least he’s smart enough not to believe Nic.
Yeah, nothing like making a good first impression on the future in-laws…
hasn’t heared him, more likely.

Either Alex or Dan has some good taste in music. I have a signed copy of the TAB for that album.
🙂
I named my company “Blue Dream Studios” after Joe’s next album.
Love him.

I’m not sure it’s smart to use a copyrighted artwork, inside your own cartoon.
It’s blurred, but it’s pretty recognizable.
And there’s the problem the Nightmare Realm creatures are apparently about to start coming THOUGH that Portal to invade Earth. They better skip their coffee break. 🙂

Poignant. I love the first panel.
SCOTT!!! Is that one of “your” paintings in the background on the wall?
That is one heck of an Easter Egg.
Is it possible to go through Niviene’s pool? I can’t remember.
They seem like very reasonable people. No one can blame Alex for what happened.
Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
And it does not seem that they packed any night clothes for the trip.
No. That’s just a photo of Arwen from Lord of the Rings.
“Alex, why do you have some OTHER elvish princess on your wall?” “I can explain! Okay, wait, no, I can’t.”
Can’t see this being a problem. Should be fair use.
