So,looks like Dan can now go to Dreamland and see what he’s been missing all those years…! Yet if Alex wants the sword necklace back,he’ll have to convince Dan to act like a coward before Nicodemus and then Nic would say,”So the true king of Dreamland is a coward?!?!?”
I’m still not ruling that conclusion out. Remember how Nicole monitored him and found he was technically brain-dead each time he entered Dreamland? This time, Alex was forcibly removed from Dreamland in a very different manner.
And on that note, having to rescue a comatose Alex would be an interesting way to give Nicole an important role in the story again.
I’m sure Dan’s thinking “Did Alex get killed?????” Dead in Dreamland is dead in real life, I seem to recall…next thing he’ll be shaking Alex awake if Alex doesn’t start to move around in a few seconds.
Hmm… What if Alex is stuck in the same place as Arthur? For that matter, what if that spell is also how Arthur was sealed? The details aren’t entirely clear. I can see Alex now having a new role in the story… trying to find him and his great-something-grandfather a way out and back into either of the worlds.
That was my first thought too. Then I considered. Alex gave the Sword to Nicole so she could go to Dreamland and visit Felicity; and it didn’t work. Clearly there’s more to this than just physical possession. We don’t know enough details, but if Nic’s spell eliminated Alex from the line of succession, even if Daniel gives him the Sword and abdicates in his favor, that wouldn’t be enough, he still couldn’t get back into Dreamland that way. But that would mean Daniel couldn’t be King, either. They may have no choice but to play it as it lays.
I’m not sure he can abdicate. What we’ve been told of the sword makes it sound like the sword chooses its own master and will not allow itself to be overruled… unless, as we’ve seen, it cannot reach its chosen master.
So will Dan appear in Dreamland where Alex (and the sword) were last or where Alex first appeared? Or is it random? Or determined by something else entirely? Tension mounting.
I imagined a little bit bigger panel when Dan realizes that he now has the sword.
Kind of like: “oh, what’s this?… Oh!… (pause)… OH!
Followed by: ocrap!ocrap!ocrap!ocrap!ocrap!ocrap!ocrap! Alexalexalexalexalex.
On another note. The curse that Nic reversed is not the one that kept Dan out, but allowed Alex in. He closed the loophole that allowed Alex in, and made sure that the true king was allowed his rightful place in Dreamland. …yeah! Now that i have that figured out, I can go to sleep.
Don’t forget about flight and Dreamland combat training Alex went through a while back, If dan is stuck as the new visitor he starts from 0.3. Knowing a little of Dreamland but is still going to be shocked and bamboozled. I think Nic shot himself in the foot overlooking who would be the most experienced warrior on his stable
What eee and Seth said. 🙂 I imagine at this point Alex is out of the line of succession since he wasn’t in the line to begin with (hence being able to visit Dreamland at all as a child)…and it’s possible there’s a child out there who has just been christened “heir to the throne” of Dreamland…and who won’t be able to dream again as a result.
Dan’s a bit more studious than that…and remember, he probably got a lot of Orion’s training by proxy through listening to Alex talk about it during the montage sequence a loooong time ago. 🙂 I think he’d be just fine.
We already know that Dan wouldn’t come between his brother and Nastajia if he has any choice in the matter. I think he’d work hard to reclaim the portal and get Alex to Dreamland. After all, Alex has already stated that Dreamland feels more like home than Earth does. 🙂
Sadly, no. Even if Dan abdicates, Alex can never wield the sword again. Orion told us this a long while back when he tried to let Nicole use the sword, and Scott has mentioned it in comments more recently.
As long as he fades to the background with Nastajia, I will be happy. However, he’s too sweet and fun a character to fade like that. I’m quite sure it will take both brothers and all their allies to save Dreamland and Earth. Dan needs Alex as much as Alex needs Dan.
After reading the whole series today, I honestly wonder if Scott’s been dropping tiny hints about what is to come or if I’m just reading too much into it. My money is on Alex and Nastajia getting back together, just not via the sword. Orion keeps saying once passed on, it can’t go back to the previous owner. But if Nastajia’s parents are on Earth and they can’t go back to Dreamland when they sleep, what if Alex follows them back through the same portal that sent them to Earth in the first place? He made it clear he doesn’t feel he belongs in our world. For all his character maturity, we still don’t know if he’s doing better in school, and even with Dan and Nastajia backing him up, he’d end the tradition of a king in Dreamland being a king on Earth. Alex could never be president. Dan, maybe.
Or maybe Nastajia will screw Dreamland and come live on Earth with her parents and Alex, who knows. All I know is I really doubt he can ever go back to Dreamland via the sword.
Wow… sudden realization. Hopefully Dan won’t disappear before Alex gets “back”
Hmmm. I wonder if Dan is now going to jump to the conclusion that Alex is dead…
I wonder: wouldn’t problem be solved if Dan just gave Alex the sword back and said “I abdicate?”
and the first memories the Sword has of the new king is he made the elven royals sleep on the couch and his girlfriend calls him dork-face. Nice.
Recorded for ALL TIME TIME time time time time time
So,looks like Dan can now go to Dreamland and see what he’s been missing all those years…! Yet if Alex wants the sword necklace back,he’ll have to convince Dan to act like a coward before Nicodemus and then Nic would say,”So the true king of Dreamland is a coward?!?!?”
does this count as a digital or an analog delay?
Yeah, take Nicole’s advice and go to sleep, so you can crap your pants standing in Nick’s presence a few seconds later.
Oh my … Dan might be many things, but Coward is none of those. ^^ He IS going to stand his ground big time. No matter, what.
Let’s look, what comes next.
That would be my first thought. Were I Dan, I’d be at Alex’s bedside immediately seeing how he was.
I wish there was a way to vote on comments that we like. 🙂
Yyyyyep. :/
I’m still not ruling that conclusion out. Remember how Nicole monitored him and found he was technically brain-dead each time he entered Dreamland? This time, Alex was forcibly removed from Dreamland in a very different manner.

That’s what I said a few days earlier!
HAH … dorkface … that’s great.
I’m sure Dan’s thinking “Did Alex get killed?????” Dead in Dreamland is dead in real life, I seem to recall…next thing he’ll be shaking Alex awake if Alex doesn’t start to move around in a few seconds.
I dunno, I think those exchanges happened just prior to the sword showing up. I’m on your side, Dan. Now, go wake up your brother.
Unfortunately for Alex, he can never have the sword back.
Panels 3 and 4 are priceless!
I think as long as he’s awake he’s okay.
Of further note: Alex has had sword training, Dan has not?
What’s Dan going to do, stick in front of him and wave it around?
It might even suffice to put the necklace back on Alex’s sleeping body.
Best Inauguration Speech Ever.
Dork-face. *snerk* Awww. I love that. Nicole’s got a pet name for him already. Psst! Hey Nicole. You just called the new king of DL a dork-face.
Imagine Dan in Dreamland and comes upon Nastajia.Would she point her energy bow at him demanding who he is and where’s Alex?
The second question is,would Dan come between his brother and the woman elf he loves?
Hmm… What if Alex is stuck in the same place as Arthur? For that matter, what if that spell is also how Arthur was sealed? The details aren’t entirely clear. According to Oberon, the True King of Dreamland will have extraordinary powers. Dan may not need the Sword to settle Nic’s hash.
So will Dan appear in Dreamland where Alex (and the sword) were last or where Alex first appeared? Or is it random? Or determined by something else entirely? Tension mounting.
Tension is indeed mounting.
“OH SNAP!”
I’m thinking that Scott is planning another epic Friday cliff hanger!
I imagined a little bit bigger panel when Dan realizes that he now has the sword.

OMG, what an awful thought! I hope not.
On another note…as a Dan fangirl, I can’t express how much it tickles me to see the sword necklace around Dan’s neck. 🙂
She already kind of met him at the pool of Auryn.
OH SNAP!
You might want to stay awake until you know what to do now Daniel
On the one hand, you bring up an interesting point about Nicole’s role in the story being a little unsatisfying these days…
On the other hand, I really don’t want Alex to be in a coma now…
And on the third hand (what? you don’t have three hands??), I would like to glomp you for havng a little chocobo avatar. 🙂
*giggles* Awesomesauce.

Yeah…that’s why you’re not supposed to unplug people willy-nilly while they’re in the Matrix…ermm…I mean Dreamland. o_O
We already know that Dan wouldn’t come between his brother and Nastajia if he has any choice in the matter. I think he’d work hard to reclaim the portal and get Alex to Dreamland. After all, Alex has already stated that Dreamland feels more like home than Earth does. 🙂
You and me both!! 😀
*bursts through the nearest wall* Oh YEAH!
Sorry…but that was honestly my first thought I had after reading today’s page. 😛

Add me to the ranks of people who fervently hope that Alex fades to the background. Long live the true King of Dreamland!
Agreed! I never thought of that–so good that he wasn’t asleep when the sword was transferred!
As long as he fades to the background with Nastajia, I will be happy. However, he’s too sweet and fun a character to fade like that. I’m quite sure it will take both brothers and all their allies to save Dreamland and Earth. Dan needs Alex as much as Alex needs Dan.

… Dan now has two oversized king-swords.
Are we going to see Dan dual-wielding royal bastardswords? ARE WE?! =D
