Page 1712…
Happy Friday!
So, thank you to all who let me know that it HAS indeed been a while since I explained that the Dwarves worked with Nicodemus to create the airships for the Nightmare Realm.
For those of you who don’t remember… here’s a little flashback…
It HAS been 4 years. So I guess it’s totally understandable that we might forget.
Right?
Anyways, have a wonderful weekend!
And see you on Monday for more!
Scott
Actually, that’s exactly the image you want to portray when trying to broker peace.
“We come in peace, but mess with us, and we’ll mess you up.”
Actually, I had envisioned something stronger than “mess”, but this is a family comic.
Yeah, that ship screams “We come in awesome!!! Don’t make us use these!”
In other words, exactly what this situation needs.
Shut it. It’s awesome, and you’re using it.
Besides, they need means of self-defense.
In one-on-one or whole-nation disputes, history has proven time and again that peace is generally achieved when one combatant loses either the will or the ability to do battle. Given the nightmare realm’s reputation such a ship might suit very well to demonstrate the “willing and able” part of the alternative to peace. And it’s likely to come in handy too, seeing as how they don’t know what’s underway over there yet.
we come in peace. You leave in pieces.
Gee… that was only 900 pages ago…. why shouldn’t we remember? 😛 (Thanks for the linkback, Scott!)
I looked up a quote.
Theodore Roosevelt’s foreign policy: “speak softly, and carry a big stick.”
And that’s one big stick those dwarves have crafted.
You know what that reminds me of….. this:
We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill.

Gunboat diplomacy,eh!?
Dangit, beat me to it!
Hey, folks, there’s a new TWC animation. And it absolutely rocks.
Need not tell you if you remember to vote, of course.
Mr Centaur-Dude and Mr Ton-of-Rocks need to study classical Latin a bit: “Si vis pacem, para bellum”.
Does anyone else think that the page’s effect would be much better if panels one and two were switched over?
It just seems better to me if Orion says that the ship is hardly the image for peace after the cannons are noticed rather than before…
Sorry, I just love how that reminds me of this.
What image DO you want to portray, Orion? “We come as prey”? 😉
You call this a diplomatic solution?
I call this aggressive negotiations!
Should have gone with the original clay animation instead of this Flintstone version. 😉
We come in peace, shoot to kill.
Reminds me more of Babylon 5. The Minbari had their gun ports open to show their full weapons capability. However, it was misinterpreted as an act of hostility. A misunderstanding did start the Earth/Minbar war.
