When these are on of these rare moments, you think that love is a great thing.
With love , you can kill lot of monsters.
Unfortunately there’s no monsters to kill in my life, so there’s no reason to fall in love.
I think “sappy” has worked pretty well for this comic so far, and it still looks good here. While I’ve never personally felt that attached to Nastajia, I really like what she’s doing in this scene. In these last few panels, you’ve effectively utilized a small amount of lines to convey a great deal of meaning: courage, hope, pride, regality, compassion, and resolve. I look forward to seeing much more of this throughout the remaining climactic chapters.
Dunno if anyone else has this issue, but I had to borrow my brother’s old Mac to read this comic for the last two days, because Firefox on my Windows 7 is stuck “waiting for connect.facebook.net” and just shows a white screen. As happy as I am to be able to see Nastajia kicking some nightmarish butt, I would like to do so on my laptop, can anyone help with that?
Zooming in, it looks like she’s on some sort of platform or craft. It’s not clear if it’s flying on its own power and the NR beasties are guiding it, or if they’re holding it aloft. If the latter, she may be thinking if she kills enough of them the remainder will be borne down by the weight and they’ll make a soft crash landing…
A quick question, what happens if you try and use internet explorer, does the website still look blank? Also do you have any other page that does not work?
When was the last time you purged your Firefox history of everything? Are you also running Firefox 22.0? To purge your history, open Firefox Options then click on the Privacy tab and the click on the clear your recent history link. Have it clear absolutely everything. Then close down Firefox and open it back up. See if that helps load the site.
Probably the url connect.facebook.net is blocked on your pc, for privacy reason. Perhaps you installed a firefox add-on that protect privacy. Or it’s an ad blocker, that blocks more than ads. Anyways, probably firefox wait endlessly for url connect.facebook.net to load, and fail to load the remaining of page.
(Zafnak’s really onto something here, I go “Uh-oh, he/she shouldn’t have said that…” whenever someone says something in the lines of “There is NOTHING you can do to stop me now!”. Its THE most surefire way of going face-first into an unforeseen obstacle or enemy.)
Anyways, here is my REAL reason for posting.
Nobody has commented on this issue yet; That is a remarkable bunch of EVIL deeds that Nastajia is listing here! I didn’t see it coming until now that she tells it herself. Is she perhaps turning evil? Hungry for power – Ruler of all Dreamland? Or “only” being really, really angry and thirsty for revenge because of the loss of her parents? (I almost sense a “uh-oh, I gotta act fast, my parents might be back soon, and then I’m scr… uh, busted!” here…)
There are quite a few NMB’s she has knocked off, too. This is on the edge of leaving PG-13, almost.
Scott? I know you don’t want to tell us about the upcoming chapter(s), but do tell me if I’m totally wrong here?
I also have a questions:
What will happen, once Nastajia runs out of things that carry her? And where were they carrying her anyway. Since they are Abbadon, then should not have to carry here to Abbadon – and if they are carrying her to Nicodemus, aren’t they going in the wrong direction?
huh…I don’t get the sense of “evil” from her claims at all. Soaring above the fabled city of Seraphopolis isn’t evil…it’s more of a “Holy crow! Really?? Cross that off your Bucket List!” kind of thing. Fighting side by side with the King of Dreamland is also not evil. It’s just praiseworthy (or merely noteworthy)…it’s just another accomplishment that shows what gives her strength.
She’s listing off the things she’s done that show she’s strong and can achieve the unimaginable. This may be a power-trip of sorts (in that she’s trying to show her strength and capability), and it might end up with her learning that she’s got a long way to go before she can best all of the beasties in the Nightmare Realm, but it doesn’t at all come across to me as “evil” or “power hungry.” I don’t think you have anything to worry about in the coming chapters (except perhaps a battle royale between Nastajia and her parents over the whole “who should be king” issue).
Seriously? o_O I will concede that there is a trope on boasting about how “nothing can stop me” and how it’s treated as a ‘tempting fate’ thing where the plot usually demands something does suddenly stop them. However, in terms of Nastajia supposedly “turning evil”: No offense, but that’s just pure baloney.
There nothing dishonest or outright malicious or despicable in anything she’s saying:
” I am Nastajia Ashenheart! Princess of Elves! ”
” I have vanquished the Dragon Lord of Astoria! ”
” I have slain the Kraken of the deepest depths of Naroobi! ”
” I have soared above the fabled city of Seraphopolis, ”
” And I have fought side-by-side with the King of Dreamland. ”
Those are obstacles she and her allies have overcome, despite the seemingly impossible odds.
I read it more like, ” I am a WARRIOR PRINCESS, dang it! And you will not stop me because I’m a hero and I’ve overcome obstacles a lot worse than you, time and again! I can’t let you kill me here and separate me from my love. Our love is true. He is my destiny and I won’t let it end here! ”
The only thing actually not accurate here is the part where she says she “vanquished the Dragon Lord of Astoria”. And that’s only because Nicodemus is not dead yet, though Nastajia doesn’t know that.
Speaking of which, the scene where she impales Nicodemus on the Sword of Kings (see page 1279 in chapter 16) has her saying some very impressive lines that remind me a lot of this page. She’s not evil. She’s vanquishing a mortal enemy in a time of war – a murderous usurper to the legitimate throne of Astoria who has rewritten history, committed atrocities, harmed her people and her kingdom, separated her from her parents, and tried to slay her beloved (among other things). If Nick had been slain, justice would have been served. Unfortunately for Alex, he’s facing round two with the villain.
Besides, if anything, someone needs to teach this “Abaddon” some manners.
Sappy is good Scott. Don’t knock sappy. It’s just too bad that, these days, there aren’t more people who can appreciate some good sentimentalism and happy endings.
Well…in her defense, vanquish and killed aren’t necessarily the same thing… 🙂 True, he’s not nearly as vanquished as she probably assumes, but he was certainly injured and deposed…which translates to “deafeated”…and “vanquished” means “soundly defeated”…so I think she’s still technically accurate. 😛
I’m glad that I am wrong.
One thing though;
You forget that in 1690:2 and 1691:3 she is shooting enemies in the back, even such enemies that do not pose any immediate threat to her.
But since all beasts are evil, I guess you would claim that that is not an evil act either. 😉
“Have you ever killed anyone? Yeah, but they were all bad!” /Arnold in “True Lies”
I bought the entire DVD collection a while back and was dismayed to find that there is no continuity to the episodes. None at all. From the start to the end, the episodes can be watched in any order whatsoever and it makes no difference to how much sense it makes.
Unlike Thundercats… which despite each episode being mostly self-contained… DOES have an overriding continuity to the story (including a beginning and sort of an end)…
I’m sure it’s been asked, and I’ve just missed it… but what are Nastajia’s arrows made of?
I think that they are light arrows. But that’s just a theory.
She’s going to run out of nighmare minions to stand on pretty soon!
Nastajia sure is awesome. Double plus woot for strong female characters!

If you ever saw the 80’s cartoon series Dungeons and Dragons, Nastajia’s arrows are similar to Hank the Ranger’s energy arrows.

I adore Nastajia. Always have. She has this wonderful sense of dramatic imperative.
If I were Alex, I’d do whatever it took to stay with her, too.
Yikes.
I’m on Firefox and Windows 7 too.
No problems here.
Hope we can figure this out!
Completely ripped off from that actually.
🙂
I believe an enthusiastic “You Go Girl!” is the best response I can come up with. I’ll leave it at that.
Well, *I* certainly believe her! 🙂

And here I assumed a Zelda ripoff.

I think the monsters just learned a lesson in Elf and safety.
Hey everyone we’re up to 9 in the ratings – go voting!
Ahem. Well if nobody else will say it…
Famous last words……
of course they are light arrows. she could not carry many if they were heavy.
No nightmare they can conjure? Challenge accepted. They show her a nightmare of Alex falling to his death.

“… then they should not…”
How long will she drag this out?
They’re carrying her to the Chimera, to feed her to it. The way things are going it may be the Chimera that’s in danger…
I’ll second that! 😀
I think that’s the best way I’ve heard it described… “Wonderful sense of dramatic imperative” I like that! 🙂
Wow…that one was pretty good (or bad depending on how you feel about puns). 🙂 Well done sir!
Totally wrong.
🙂
This is merely a proclamation of “After what I’ve been through… there ain’t NOTHING you can do to scare me!”

Joss Whedon would be proud…….and then kill someone that you love.

As long as there are beasties to kill in order to get free. 🙂 She’s only one elf, and there are a heckuva lot of them.. 🙂
