I think the king and queen will be surprised to see how little care Nastajia needs. I’m not saying she doesn’t need Alex, but I’d love to see how they react to their bold, independent queen.
Well, once the real king and queen get sprung from the Nightmare Lands.
Anyone else remember the shadow players watching from the woods a ton of pages back, at the pond? The Nightmare Realm has the portal, AND they have it working. That ain’t the real king and queen. I’d bet money on it.
Alex is being sensible? He’s thinking about plans and such? What madness is this?? Is it an April Fools gag?
I’m also thinking that the king and queen we’ve been presented are fakes. It seems too convenient and timely.
I’m betting the king and queen are real. Their reactions and behavior just doesn’t match with random Nightmare Realm denizens pretending to be them. Time will tell!
I think it could go either way. Remember, they did save Dan and Nicole, and so far they haven’t really taken any opportunities to get information out of Alex. Sure, they got his and Nastajia’s general location, but then they told them to leave, and didn’t specify a location.
If they’re villains, either their plan is loony or more brilliant than I could imagine.
This is when they need to get really creative and figure out from King and Queen how to get Alex to the earth side of the portal, relinquish the sword to Dan, go through the portal, and then shut it down on both sides.
King and Queen can decide to stay on earth and help protect Dan there and continue to hunt the demons from the nightmare realm, and Dan becomes King of Dreamland (with the sword), and Alex marries Nastajia as she takes over rule of Ashendel.
The downside is that Alex loses his Dreamland abilities. And the only way for Nastajia to see her parents again is through the lake with *uuungh* Niviene.
Something else, too. I’d swear that in the panel way back when Nas first noticed Alex was gone, there was a wraith just leaving or just arriving at the railing. Something’s going on SOMEWHERE around here, I can just feel it.
An adolescent-driven Dreamland? Um…. having been a teenager once… let’s just say that a comic based on that would be quite a bit different from the comic we’ve got here

I think that somewhere, Scott is twisting his hands and gleefully chuckling at the coming plot twist.
The king and queen still think Alex is still twelve? Maybe Dreamland should’ve had a section for children in their teens?!?!?
If Dreamland Chronicles becomes a live-action movie, who would you think should be cast for Nastajia?
Milla Jovovich
or Olivia Wilde or Zooey Deschanel
Someone sounds skeptical.

Olivia Wilde would be great.
Maybe Gemma Arterton…

or Jessica Brown Findlay…

By the way, I’m loving Alex’s maturity here. Go, lad, go! 🙂
Be careful what you wish for Alex…
There’s a line in ‘Puff the Mafic Dragon that goes…
‘One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more…
And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar. ‘
Don’t grow up too much, my friend…
Eli.
Alex being responsible? April Fool’s!

Still rendering.
Will post Tuesday’s page in the morning.
Thanks for the heads up!
This almost always indicates awesome visuals. I’m excited.
Please not Zooey. Not nearly formidable enough.

Surprised it took 48 minutes for someone to come up with that, and not sooner. (Emily Blunt would also be an acceptable answer.)
