Love will find a way. Right? my heart is going to freaking shatter if they can’t be together in the end. personally, I don’t care who ends up King( though I like the Dan is Kind and Alex is King’s Champion deal) I just want everyone to be happy.
*crosses fingers*
I think Alex has a right to complain and defend his position, but here he sounds rather… juvenile. [sigh] :/ He may not be as smart or as skilled an orator as his brother, but surely he could find better reasons than this.
Actually, I thought these were pretty rational questions for once. Consider that Niviene and King Oberon are so strongly pushing for a return to a tradition of succession that virtually no one remembers and hasn’t been in practice for the last 1,000 years, I think it’s fair and reasonable to challenge whether or not he should personally strive to be the master of his own destiny instead. On the other hand, the reasons given for Alexander to pass the sword to Daniel have been flaky or superficial at best.
This conversation has gone on wayyyy to long. It’s time for Alex to excuse himself, saying he’ll give up the sword when he’s finished with it and leave.
YAY! Alex is FINALLY starting to question this whole situation: What the Sword is, why it has so much power, how all this has come about… Maybe he’ll think to ask the Sword some of these questions when he gets back to Dreamland. Because he’s pretty clearly not going to give the Sword up until he gets Nas out of the Nightmare Realm. And Dan wouldn’t accept it until then, either, I think.
About the story. Is it Christmas time yet? The funny thing about this story is that if I’m not mistaken, apart from the time that Alex spent retraining with Orion, this story has only lasted a few days. Even though we have been reading it for years. 🙂
My 2 cents: This idea has come up too often, and Alex is too hurt by it, for it not to have at least a halfway acceptable solution. Maybe Dan will implement Arthur’s solution and find a way to allow at least a few more adults to visit Dreamland?
What you are forgetting is that “being Master of his own destiny” as you say, he is in effect denying the citizens of dreamland their true king!
Don’t get me wrong, I understand Alex’s desire to stay if fact I can’t say I would do any different in his situation. But of course they are pushing him to give up the sword, they just got rid of one usurper for another (and since the spell is now broken, Dan is the true king).
that was my immediate reaction to the last panel. The Sword doesn’t care about love, it cares about getting the job done.
though it brings up a good point–who really rules Dreamland? the King or the Sword?
Dan really needs to speak up at this point……Alex is his brother. Yeah, he can be a pain in the rear, is rash, brash, and often foolish. But Dan is NOT about to just go along with this.
From what we have seen of Dan’s personality, he would rather abdicate and never see dreamland at all, than to destroy his own brother’s happiness. They cannot MAKE him take up the kingship. Alex has shown he has what it takes to rule, and with Dan advising him here and there, the ‘true king’ still has his hand in it.
Now, that said, he’ll still be trying to figure out a way for BOTH of them to be there…..or for Nast and the others to visit here…..or both.
What you say would be true if most of the citizens of Dreamland actually awaited a true king other than Alex. But my understanding is that most of Dreamland is currently pleased with Alex, and the only ones arguing against him are Niviene and Oberon, who have actually been isolated from the rest of Dreamland for years, if not centuries. So it’s actually reasonable to suggest there are more people pushing for Alex to be King than those pushing him to pass on that duty.
Thanks a lot for sharing this with all people

Wow! Love your paintings.
Been reading for a while, never commented, but I love his expression in the last frame. It’s all “psht you guys be crazy.”

Very nice, Scott! Love the painting of Thorin, and I like where you seem to be going with Dreamland 🙂 Keep up the good work!

So his mother in law loves him ,that is what i hear between the lines,She wil help him find a way to be whith her daughter.
So now how far will Alex’s little rant go?

Well, it really wouldn’t go over very well if he was rude to the people that may be his future in-laws, would it? 😛
They started it. That’s the way college guys act. When they realize that the parents don’t approve of them anyway, they go into “ignore mode”.
Wicked painting Scott.

Keep going, Alex! We’re with you! 😀
Although, I have to add…sweetie, life isn’t fair. The world has never been fair.
Actually the sword and Dreamland history started it. But Alex is rockin’ the boat and I think it’s going to be a good thing.

A) the portal exist as proven by the guardians.
B) has no one thought to ask how did the King & Queen of Elves come to our world?!?
About time. Now we’re seeing Alex develop into the kind of person that could be king.

Of course the sword might actually belong to the dragon and be using Alex. Then the creepy mean love twist makes perfect sense…
Is it broken? Is Old Nic TRULY dead?
I don’t remember seeing his slain corpse hacked into little tiny pieces and buried separately in all five corners of Dreamland.
I’m not so certain he’s not lurking somewhere, kept alive by the scales of his teeth and by the will of Abaddon.

If *I* went around proclaiming myself, say, Emperor just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at *me*…
