This is explained in movie “the Matrix”. People can get well or sick from just believing, they will (well, only sometimes). Also under hypnosis you can pierce someone’s hand with a needle, and they won’t feel pain or bleed.
Bah! It’s been theorized by science fiction writers long before the Matrix ever came out. Ever heard of the series called the Night Gallery? Yeah…freaky show. Freaky freaky show. One scientist killed a test subject via hypnosis…he thought he was dead, therefore he was.
The whole, “You believe you are well or dead is what makes you healthy or dead” sounds more like Scientology to me. Of course, don’t tell the guy who experiences your bad breath that you did brushed your teeth- cause then he might have to assume that bad breath had a cause outside of the mind…..
Yep the mind is a powerful thing. I have heard of a few stories where women have wanted so badly to fall pregnant, and believed that they were to the point that their body reacted accordingly- they got morning sickness, strong cravings for unusual foods, even a bit of bloating, many of the pregnancy symptoms. There was nothing growing in there of course, but your body can react to what you believe is happening to your body, if you believe it enough.
Makin yourself believe stuff like that just to trick your body is fun stuff.
I’ve actually managed to get rid of symptoms of illness before just by forcefully denying their existence.
I bet he sounds unbelievably crazy to her right now
And it’s off to the nut house :p

@kpatton: I would rather die than live in a world where you can be comitted for wierd dreams.

Nicole: “But Dreamland isn’t real.”
Alex: “My mind makes it real.”

I love the fact that he is brain dead is fine, but a cut on his face throws him for a loop!
Unpalrealled accuracy, unequivocal clarity, and undeniable importance!

You’ve got to have priorities. Based on what we’ve seen so far, is he likely to trade on his looks, or his brains?

That is how I deal with the dentist. I can actually fall asleep unless the Dentist specifically keeps me awake by asking questions or something.
